It’s nice to see something other than Gr.3 and Gr.4 cars, but the problem with road cars in a race like this is that there is always an extremely clear best car, and you’re completely nerfing yourself if you use anything else. It really highlights the balance problems in this game.
I really hope they keep trying to balance it though. A competitive recurring road car class in sport mode would be fun. Hope this is not a one time thing. I really wanted to drive the Mazda but quickly realized its not even close to the bmw...

Hopefully they move forward and try to be more creative with the races. Still think we need a hour endurance race and shuffle racing lobbies.
Its a problem in all racing games. Its extremely hard to balance concise groups of cars. Even iracing gets it wrong and they update the bop multiple times a season. Even if you do get the bop right for one track it could give an unforseen advantage somewhere else. Gt does seem to balance cars by their relationship with manufacturers. Cough cough the supra being hands down the best gr.3 car for gt sport and gt7.
Well I feel like it's the same in real life. If you have the option to choose any car in one class, everyone would be driving Redbull in F1 for example. Thats why they have balance of performance races and I think those are the clear solution to this problem.

Negatives: - Not as closely balanced vehicle selection as it could be. - Slip is a bit extra strong (I would have gone with a Soft compound Sport tire instead with "Real" slip) - No liveries. I know it's not necessary, but it would be cool.

You're not the only one who had so much trouble to win this race. It's interesting but also very annoying when there are dirty players in the race. If they set the slipstream to weak or real many players with less skill wouldn't have enjoyed the race. Polyphony is trying to satisfy lower skill players since lately. I wish they added two more races in the weekly races so we can choose what kind of players we want to race against. Anyway it was both fun and stressful race. I wonder what do they have planned for the next week.

I personally love this race and it’s not over rated. It’s a refreshing race because the cars are all different but well balanced and it’s not Gr4 or Gr3 which is basically all we ever get. The diablo is great too
i used the XJ220 in this race it’s got superior top speed compared to the LFA at least but it’s super loose around the corners. a pretty tricky car that one, still hope PD improve BOP because man using meta cars is real tiring
The daily races should be one of each main group with one being random (car specific, truck, rally etc) it would bring way more variety and replay value
You know what’s not overrated? Gr.3 @ Fuji w/ rain. One race i pit early for full wets and caught the leader and won by 30 sec. The next was bone dry and i ran away since people were too busy fighting.

what is your pc set up for gt7? i have been loving the game on console and want to take it to the next level with a pc and steering wheel and pedals but have no clue where to start.
People don't care that its artificial, people do not care about the lack of car selection, people want to feel like they are racing each other and this race provides that. Every daily turns into a 1 or 2 make race, so car selection isn't really a good sticking point (I'm not saying other cars don't work, they are just less likely to work) and people want strategy that is theory crafted and optimized by Monday evening here in the US... so that isn't an argument. The race being short for a daily C is fine... but people aren't going to go "This is a great race" because of PD settings, people are going to go "This is a great race" because they are battling each other having memorable overtakes and sometimes having back and forth between 2 equally skilled drivers over multiple laps. People do not get excited about racing with fuel calculators, and tire wear statistics. Do you think we are engineers or accountants who think numbers are exciting? My favorite GT7 sport mode race was a 1x/1x daily around Watkins Glen... and we were about 2 by 2 by 2 for almost 3 laps. It was clean, it was tactical, and it was fun. Got ruined by someone who thought the leaders braking mark wasn't late enough and decided a small bump and run was enough to cause last lap chaos.
I definitily get excited about fuel calculators and tyre wear statistics. My favorite race was Interlargos where a 0 stop fuel saving strategy was about 2 secs faster over a race distance than a 1 stop strategy. It made both strategys viable and I got a real rush from both chasing down 0 stoppers and being chaced down on a 0 stop.
@@furrycannon There have been a few times where it works out that both can be viable which can be fun... but 90% of the the time you take yourself out of contention if you decide to stop and the grid doesn't and you're catching up from 12-15s back.
@@hsanrb thats the thing strategy for strategy sake doesnt work. It cant be about whether you pit on lap 5 or lap 6, its not really options. There needs to be genuinely different stategy options.
wow thought it was just me! my online experience on this game is that most races are full of dirty drivers who get no penalties for such driving and receiving weird random penalties for no obvious reasons! still more work to be done by Polyphony Digital. great result in the end for you though well done
I loved the idea of this race, but the execution was actually depressing. Don't PD have people who play and work on the balance? The fact that the only car worth choosing if you want to actually take part in the race is the M3 makes me sad. Don't get me wrong, there's nowt wrong with an M3, but it was the most boring car on the list and also the only viable one.
The buffed slipstream can be fun once in a while. What isn't fun is having 10 cars to choose from and you see the entire grid with the same car. What's even the point of having the others then?

I actually really like this race. First tried the LFA, didn't like it that much, then tried the Porsche. It was fun but understeered a bit. Picked the NSX and had a blast. Started in 5th place and ended in 5th. This track seems to isolate players. It was a solitary race for most of it. Tried the BMW yesterday but couldn't get the same times I was getting with the NSX. The BMW kept trying to oversteer and pull the back around on corner exits. Skill issue for sure.
The lfa is the best. Using it during my first race there it is miles faster on the straightaways! The BMW is good on the turns but it will lose about 3-4 tenths on the straight alone. The lfa also brakes very smoothly like a gt3 car so it's incredibly stable!
Ahhhhhh....STRONG slipstream setting. Polyphony STOLE my idea😂😂😂. We do strong slip in the Battle of Beetles for the same reason - keep the cars bunched up so ideally, no one can pull away. Artificial drama!!!

The fact there is ALWAYS a go to car in weekly races makes the game annoying to play at times. Hate it that if I don’t choose the bmw I WILL not be able to overtake consistently. Same goes for GR3 cars, hate it that I can’t use other cars that isn’t the meta for the week. It’s like they miraculously get a power boost. Last week it was the atenza that miraculously was the monster car to use. Wth
If pd did more races like this instead staying in gt3/gt4 safe space, we would have balance iron out already. My only wish is being able to use own livery, since I waste more time on them and photos than driving.
My feeling about the "custom slipstream" is that it seems just like Activision putting braindead/supergod bots into lobbies to make the match as even as possible, which is actively killing that game

And so is DRS in F1. To act like racing leagues don't artificially create close racing so a racing game shouldn't do it is dumb.

I loved this race. The slipstream kept it interesting if you’re in first or last. The LFA is more fun in this race by the way. No TCS is 👍🏻
I had some use my car as a barrier for a late brake on turn one of the other daily race on the last lap no penalty i wish some races are all ghosts
