Mark Slaughter, wrote this song about his girlfriend from Highschool who passed away. He said that when got back home from touring, he wanted to get a hold of her. And his friend called him up and told him that she passed away. And her funeral was the next day. So, he wrote this song in honor of her.

I heard she died in a plane crash. Which is why some of the video was filmed an a plane hanger and they showed a girl (which is supposed to represent her) in front of a plane. Also they show thee plane taking off and never landing. I heard that many years ago.

Absolutely heartbreaking at the time the song came out- we all were teens and has a significant other and the thought of losing them was sad, so we could relate to the song. Especially those of us who lost friends at the time this song was popular. I myself was giving birth to my first born and this was the last song I heard before he was born- so this has forever been my son's song & he's now 31! So I feel old, but this is a classic timeless song. Great honest reaction!

I had the pleasure to know lead singer Mark Slaughter prior to the group, we sang in high school choir together in Las Vegas. He is an amazing person, something some fans don't know is he sang in a barbershop quartet with myself and 2 other members of the schools men's choir and competed in All State Choir in 1981, I always loved his ballads.

The singer was asked about the origins of the Slaughter song “Fly To The Angels” to which he stated: “That song was written about a girlfriend who I went to high school with. I remember I came back from touring and couldn’t get a hold of her. So I asked a friend and he told me he hadn’t seen her. The next thing I know, he calls me back with the news that she had passed away and the funeral was the next day. It was one of those surreal moments. True story....I went to a local bar back in mid 90's and there was a band i never heard of playing. I was at bar getting a beer n I heard the band playing a Slaughter song n was like damn...they do this good. When I got a look at the stage I was like holy fk...it is Mark Slaughter. He had throat surgery n before they committed to making a new cd n tour he wanted to see how his voice would sound n hold up playing live. Everytime they took a break he would grab a beer n just hang like one of the guys. Really cool dude. I seen them a few years earlier twice. Once they opened for Tesla n next time they opened for Poison with the Bulletboys

A brother of a friend of mine committed suicide around the time when this song came out. A bunch of us got together and hung out with him that night he found out and we must have played this song over 100 times for his brother. Later that night Stevie Ray Vaughan died after a concert we didn't go to because of my friend needing us in his time of grief and we played the song a bunch more. Every time I hear it it brings me back to that confusing night of grief. Great song for grief, nice reaction.

Yep getting over someone close passing away.
Flowers bloom in your name- Flowers in front of tombstone
Stars at night shine in your name- Once again...down on the tombstone.
Implies grieving and visiting day and night if one wants to perceive it that way.
    Very good song.

Slaughter was one of the best from the third and last wave of the Glam/Hair band era…the era died in 1992 with the rise of grunge

@@thewalkershow6072 yes it was I was born in 1970 I like Tombaugh it was great binning a kid in the 70’s a teen in the 80’s and in my 20’s through the 90’s…grunge was OK but the Hard Rock/Glam era was better and has held up…Alice in Chains was the best of the lot but I was always more into partying and being upbeat than wanting to be down in a hole(except the good kind)…lol

I have seen Slaughter many times in concert and it was always a fun time. I met them once and they were cool guys. This entire album is great. Burnin' Bridges and Eye to Eye are great songs with cool lyrics. Their later stuff is good too with songs like American Pie, Real Love, Days Gone By and Can We Find A Way

Slaughter was created out of the Vinny Vincent Invasion. When Vinny Vincent lost his grip on reality and left, the remaining members just kept going without him. Named it after Mark Slaughter!
Vinny Vincent was a former Kiss guitarist after original member Ace Frehly left kiss.
I seen Slaughter in 1990, the whole "Up all night" album rocks from start to finish!
Fonts been sucking lately on thise lyric videos!

Sad song for sure. Seen them early 90's to mid at Shades night club in Orange Park Fl. they were great live, it was a small venue, and their opening band came out to our table
giving us T-shirts and stuff. I heard Slaughter came out later to greet fans, but we had a drive so we left to soon. They sounded good back then especially in a small space.
