Origin of the song in Mark Slaughter's own words. “That song was written about a girlfriend who I went to high school with. I remember I came back from touring and couldn’t get a hold of her. So I asked a friend and he told me he hadn’t seen her. The next thing I know, he calls me back with the news that she had passed away and the funeral was the next day. It was one of those surreal moments. I went to her funeral and it inspired me to write a song about letting go. There’s a real sense of composure in going through those life events that I’m always very conscious of in my music. Seeing what it does for other people is why I continue to write.”
Always could relate to this song. Played it at my wife's funeral 3 years ago. Wasn't a dry eye in the house. The song fit our lives. Was the best 35 years I could ask for. Our favorite song.
at the end of the song he whispers "divine order of his" mark slaughter always likes to put a little hidden somethin in his songs.. super love this song. so beautiful
Slaughter is one of the most underrated band of all time.
There truly is nothing like the 80s hair bands!!!!! Love seeing people going WAY back!! Thanks for sharing
The song the fans were singing at the beginning is Slaughter's biggest song, Up All Night
Imagine being in your 20's in the 1980's. Power ballads were everywhere on the radio.
Luckily, I was born in '62. Truly, the 80's were the best time for music.
I just lucked out.
One of my friends plays for Slaughter. Not only are they talented but they’re also great human beings; excellent choice!!
🎶❤️👍
One of the best bands of that time ...amazing band that I still listen to.
Wasn't this also a tribute to " Amelia Airheardt "?
Please ask your friend to tell Mark he's welcome to come and live on my farm in Maine with me, I'll knit him wool socks and roast him a chicken. ❣️😂
Mark is the best of humans! I have known him all my life.
Thanks for playing Mark slaughter HIS voice so underrated
It’s trash now
Mark Slaughter very underrated singer!! Great 80’s !!! Awesome reaction!!! Rock on!
My sister passed six years ago and this was one of the songs played at her memorial
Mark Slaughter is a natural mimic. In addition to his athletic vocal singing, he also does amazing impressions, and currently works for the Cartoon Network providing voices for many characters.
Great choice! Love his voice. You might like Kix singing Don’t close your eyes. Another amazing voice. 🤘🏻🤘🏻💙
Baltimore’s one and only Kix. God remember them and Hammerjacks.
Just heard that song on the hair nation station other day and i turned it up n blasted it. Had not heard it in long while.
I saw kix in the early 80s. I had their autographs on the album. Wow love that song
Please please please do “Don’t know what you got til it’s gone” by Cinderella!!!!! His voice is AMAZING as well
Agreed. All Cinderella is great music.
YAASS!!!
Another one of those 80s bands that had a few great songs then faded out. Glad someone is showing then some love. Try some GREAT WHITE, BULLET BOYS, WHITE LION, WINGER & DANGEROUS TOYS.
Nothing like those 70’s to early 90’s bands
Those hair medal bands didn't fade out, they were FORCED out. Same thing happened a decade earlier to the Bee Gees, one of the most talented groups of all time.
Dangerous Toys-Best of Friends
I love watching reactions to this song. When his voice changes at the pre-chorus the looks on your faces was awesome. Nobody expects that change...
blas's drum production on this is stellar... even by today's standards
Love analog recording, way better than digital. You can feel the rhythm section in 80s rock recordings. Rock on!!!
"I'LL never let you go" by Steelheart is amazing also....I'll drop the link....
Oh wait.... I just remembered you did that and Mel was absolutely amazed by his voice!!
That is a great song.
I ❤Slaughter!Slaughter rocks!
And to think Mark used to give guitar lessons before someone heard him sing and ended up bein the singer for The Vinnie Vincent Invasion. So underrated. His power, emotion, control. This song was written for a girlfriend he found out passed away while he was on the road. He asked a friend about her and he said he hasn't seen her for awhile then called Mark back with the news of her passing and the funeral was the next day.
High school grad 1982. We cruising with this music every weekend. Awesome !!
The world needs a dose of the eighties when I was a young folk to calm everyone down!
Music is the vehicle we all can get a ride on!
Great reaction!
I agree!
Slaughter - up all night
Thank You so much for reacting to this video.
I sang this son to my mom just before she left to die of Cancer in Michigan.
One of the most beautiful songs about grief I know of. Hardest part is knowing when it's time to let go.
Always remembering, but moving on. 🙏♥️
Every song they sing is awesome
You’re right. His voice was perfect!
I had this song played at my daughter’s funeral…….. the part “then I turn to look and find that you’re not there” makes my cry every time!
So sorry for your loss
That just sucks a lot. 😢 stay strong!
Thanks, guys!
So sorry for your loss sugar. Hang in there. Thoughts and prayers to you and your family. :-(

His voice is almost as pretty as he is.
Ikr....I want his hair 😊
Up all night is another great song. It’s a powerful rock anthem
Mark Slaughter still sounds great. Just saw them last night in concert!!
Blias Elias the Drummer and Tim Kelly on guitar was what made slaughter!
I love you, beautiful work, a hug from Brazil!!!
Slaughter is COOL!
Awesome voice. That song always made me cry.
One of my most beautiful, caring, loving friends took her life right before Thanksgiving. It struck all of our #90's alumni so hard,we loved her so much. KelliLynn
'80's power ballad at it's finest.
I met Mark Slaughter back in the 90s. Super nice person
This was my favorite “Hair band” back in the day.
You should react to SLAUGHTER-UP ALL NIGHT SLEEP. ALL DAY (Official Music Video ) you’ll love it !
Yes beautiful voice and song
I love your personality and love for one another
You better believe it's an awesome song. I listen to this song in Desert shield Desert Storm and it took me home. And made me remember those who passed.
This song makes me cry everytime
Great song!! I have met these guys a couple of times. A few years back the guitarist Tim Kelly died in a horrible wreck😢 all of their fans were mourning. I miss Tim!!
Same! They still celebrate Tim’s bday every year. Such an amazing group of guys!
This might be the best power ballad of all time. I’m not a glam punk fan, really, but for me it’s this or Don’t Know What You Got (til it’s gone)
Thank you/Thank you 😘 ❤ 🙏 💓 a song about letting go I lost 😢 😞 alot of peaple/my heart ❤ 💙 isbroken
Love this song.
OMG, if you liked this plz plz give Cinderella a listen to. Another great musical band that never got the credit they deserved
Always makes me cry!! 😔
Beautiful song by a beautiful voice man 💗🕊️. One of the best voices out there imo 😁
My man plays this song for me always
Their first 2 albums 🔥. Mark Slaughter was a beast and Dana Strum awesome musician.
Saw Slaughter live with Dokken, Warrant and Alice Cooper in 97. Amazing show.
When he says 'the pain' you can feel that gut wrenching grief that this guy is feeling. You two really felt the song, great reaction
at the end he whispers "divine order of his"
Love!!!!
I'm loving this!
This was the first song my Jason my man played for me from him I love this song .
The fans in the beginning are singing what's considered their first hit..Up All Night.
Thank you both for such 1. Great content and commentary 2. Putting a smile in my heart!
Powerful song indeed
Just like great music 🎶🎵 is so real,i love how listening to it with Shawn and Mel makes me feel happy and with you ,cause everyone else around me here likes sleeping, and not me,I'm having fun with ya all'
Bless you guys for this one. Been a long time, but I played this at my wife's funeral it was one of her favorite songs. 💕💕💕💕. Much love
I was a hard headed 17 year old boy when this song came out and thought that it was a girly anthem song..now in my 40’s with life experience behind me…it’s a heart felt feelin’ it song!! Love it
Listen i don’t know what drama people are causing you but I absolutely love your pure energy and positivity..Remember 2 things…1. The King/Queen never respond to the minions. 2. Don’t let ANYONE dull your shine! God bless! NamaStacey
Love this! ❤
I had the pleasure to know lead singer Mark Slaughter prior to the group, we sang in high school choir together in Las Vegas. He is an amazing person and WOW !!! what a voice, to sit next to him to hear his twice a day in class, he was our only natural tenor, something some fans don't know is he sang in a barbershop quartet with myself and 2 other members of the schools men's choir and competed in All State Choir in 1981, I always loved his ballads.
Damn I miss being 17 years old to
Way to represent Bmore. I bleed purple, orange and black till the day I die.
I was like 16 0or 17 when this came out..maybe it was 18...lol...man i miss this music...80s was the best
A really good song. I remember those days. We were all Americans . Love yall!
Got to meet Tim Kelly (the lead guitarist in the video) at a random guitar store back in the day. Really nice guy....RIP
Just seen these guys here in st.louis back in August... hell of a show and still sound great !
Mark Slaughter is amazing you should check out Up All Night
❤️❤️.... many many rock stars have amazing voices not only do they scream at the rock songs but there's so many amazing ballads like this one out there...... i'm sure you will get many more suggestions if you continue reacting to rock videos..... I love ALL But the videos you react to especially some of the older stuff from the 70s and 80s
This is one of my favorite 80s songs! Thanks for the reaction!!!
Best reaction I' ve seen
STeelheart.....I'LL NEVER LET YOU GO
I get serious knots in my stomach every time I here this song and pretty much anytime Mark sings...SUCH passion!!!
Fly to the Angel's is a very great song and video
Feeling it...
💔
My first love was hit by train this song was on my playlist playin when i found out
Yass y’all this was my jam I was very young when this came out 🔥🔥🔥
Another rocker w a beautiful voice !! Incredible !! Check out Up all night sleep all day!! It’s a banger !!
Mark Slaughter also sang in "Vinnie Vincent's Invasion" "Love Kills" was a hit for VVI.
Yes! This would be a great song to react to! It’s also on the “Nightmare on Elm St 4” soundtrack, just in time for Halloween!🎃👻
i drove a truck for 31 yrs....while out in the desert making my way back to vegas...i hear a bulletin come over the radio saying tim kelly died from the band slaughter...he died on state route 96....a road i was on just 2 hours earlier leaving kingman arizona....by the time the news came out, the local radio station made a mixed tape of the song fly to the angels with the newscast of this song and the reporter coming in on the breaks...it was eerie and innovative at the time but sad overall.....growing up at 12 to 20 my best friend was named tim kelly.....
I lost my girl to Cancer and this song sums it up. Giant. I'll see you in my dreams. You'll be pleasantly surprised.
Thanks for doing this one. This song has always been one I come back to. It put Slaughter on the map. The band blew up big in the late 80’s and early 90’s, plateaued for awhile and then plummeted after the death (Car accident) of their lead guitarist. Mark Slaughter has one of the great voices ever, and, even though I love it, I often forget just how good he is. If you want another great song of his to review, check out Days Gone By. The song theme is very similar lyrically as well as musically.
One of favorites from the 80’s…. Lots of songs from that album to listen too… check them out!!
I will say it for the millionth time...I feel bad for Antonella who didn't grow up in the 80's. We are truly blessed
Guys hold on your in for a treat
Mark slaughter was very much a part of my child hood too
Shawn, u gotta play “Don’t know what u got til it’s gone” by Cinderella…..if y’all love this one then u will love it!!!!! ❤️ 🥰
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Late 80's hair metal was the best, it was about love and happiness
I haven’t heard this song in forever! Try Cinderella if you haven’t already
song is bloody amazing, the sound quality of your channel when ye speak is brutal
