Yeah, it would be nice to get the Electric Artillery spear as a spear skin. At the moment, the only spear skin that really works well for engineer is the aetherised spear, and there's no reliable source of new instances of that spear so they cost an arm and a leg.
Thanks a lot for sharing all your videos and ideas with the new landspear ... good job ... well done !! Personally, I really like the new landspear because it is a very versatile and effective weapon with very nice animations for all classes and elite specs. OK, I'm having a bit of trouble with the spear for the ranger and his elite specs because I can't do its "stealth" mode as well as I should. Up until now, Herald and Renegade were my main classes for a long time and I still really enjoy playing them with the new spear either. The revenant landspear skill 3 ("Abyssal Blitz" + "Blitz Mines") is awesome and very effective imo. But now the engineer as a mechanist with my two different spear builds has become my absolute favorite, along with the mech buddy at his side and the spear and short bow as weapons. These two weapons are absolutely equally useful and exciting for me and the short bow is not just a stopgap solution if close combat is too risky or impossible for special reason. The trinkets and the backpiece are always "Viper", but the armor and weapons are either "Celestial" plus "Tempest" runes on the armor for open world adventures, or all "Viper" plus "Lich" runes when necessary, for example for certain group content when I dont`t want a higher toughness value. It`s the same with the underwater gear and weapons. No matter which of these builds and gear I play the spear mechanist with, he is always fun, very effective, and mostly "last man standing" in heavy group events. When I play solo like "Monster Hunter" in GW2 especially the "half Celestial + half Viper" mechanist is also very effective. Next to the auto attack chain the engineer landspear skills 2 and 3 in this order is usually my "bread and butter" combo (see discriptions for details) and very effective, I use the skill 5 in between on cooldown, if at all necessary, and skill 4 only for defiance break. I always have the mech skills F1, F2 and F3 set to "auto attack" so I don't have to worry about it, the mech does it automatically and it works well. With the mix of "Celestial + Viper" stats I play the mech traits 221 because quickness is always triggered by each F-skill that way and I get alacraty with the F2 skill and with the full "Viper" stats 113, the "3" because I play and use four sigils.
Nice... I saw someone do a solo Scrapper setup that had ridiculous amounts of barrier with Spear (just soloing Heart of Thorns Champs in the one video that I saw). I think I'll use my actual Tequatl's Hoard/"Sunless" spear on this one because I really really want to like the Engineer. Also, the fire/smoke effects from the attacks just work with the black particle effect on the Sunless weapons.
Am curious on what scrapper would be like with the spear, prolly more power but im sure you could find way to still do condi even if mech and holo are stronger - but I need to try holo on mine, been enjoying mech so much havent even given holo a shot yet :P
There's an interesting "God-mode" Scrapper that generates a lot of Barrier with Spear & only using Gyros, so no crazy Kit swaps. Seems to work okay, even without the ideal gear for the build. ua-cam.com/video/PLUQ88Qh5Jo/v-deo.html
I'm running a condi scrapper with spear XD Can pack 25Vuln. 15Burn 20Bleed 5 seconds into fight as AOE(!), making every hit critical and gaining barrier with every hit up to 9k XD Also, getting quickness with every well ability gives perma Q, so the rate of piling up conditions is wild. Kinda insane
I stopped playing my Power Mech about two or three months ago, and right now, I'm playing a Scourge to get another full map completion done, so I can craft a couple more Legendary weapons, because the precursors and gifts of might & magic are starting to pile up in my bank, but after watching this, it's making me want to go back to my Mech, because it looks really fun to play and not difficult at all.
photonic blasting module doesnt vent.. thats the top trait... anyhow.. im actually a little bummed out that this weapon who Anet said would be a power weapon performs so porly with power.. as a condi weapon its great.. i have no problem doing 40k (mech) on the golem.. power build is more like 30k... but its nice we finally have something new to play around with..
@@alchemi8085 yea, as por PVE wanted build that i can tske into OW and fractals, strikes and raids, not meta but at least something better than support, and most importantly not mecha.
I don’t understand how engineer is one of the least played classes I’m fairly new I played a couple professions but I started an engineer it’s so much fun using a rifle and turrets just picking em off at range
I think it is mainly the potential for it to be grossly complex compared with most professions. Every kit adds 5 new abilities and kit swapping is typically the best way to get the most damage. If you're up for complex though, it and elementalist are where you should be! :)
A lot of the best damage in the standard setups involve some combination of Mine & Grenade kit & swapping into Mortar Kit off cooldowns... and ground targeting is atrocious. It's a lot of juggling like Elementalist, but then everything is ground targeting. I love Elementalists, but Engineer is often too much for me to deal with. Turrets also don't ramp up like other Pets do. Of course, the setup I saw recently was a solo Spear Scrapper. No Kit swapping for that guy's build... so I'm trying to git gud with that.
@@natel7151 Yeah, the reliance on ground-targeted kits is one of the big turnoffs for me. It doesn't help that engineer kits feel like they were designed on the assumption that the engineer would always have a ranged weapon (rifle and pistol were the only autoattacking weapons available when the game released) and would turn to kits for close-in fighting. So out of the kits available, three are designed for close combat if not actual melee, three are balanced as support kits, and grenade kit is the only one that's designed for ranged damage. Since then, four out of five of the new weapons have been melee, and the shortbow is support-oriented. So if you're running solo and don't want to be exclusively melee, you basically have two options: you either use one of the release weapons or you use grenade kit, however bored you might have become of those having been your ranged damage options for over a decade. I've been wondering for a couple of years now if engineer might be better suited to receiving a new kit every so often in lieu of a new weapon.
@@Draxynnic Engineer is fun because there are so many build options ... Pistol/Pistol Bomb Kit Condi Mechanist is fun and easy because Pistol 2 and Bomb 2 have the same cooldown. Easy to play. Spear Grenade Kit Condi Mechanist is also fun and easy because Spear 32 and Grenade 2 have the same cooldown. Slightly Harder to play. Both builds can use Flamethrower Turret to go no kit. The DPS on Pistol/Pistol is lower but you become Ranged and with higher dps uptime you can do more damage in certain fights but usually Spear will out dps Pistol/Pistol, the range is more quality of life. Sword/Pistol power mechanist while lower benchmark around 38k using Mine is no kit build which is super fun and easy. You spam 234590. Shield can be added for more CC. I would not use Hammer on this build because it is lower dps than Sword/Shield (I have been told) but for sure run power Rifle Mechansit using Rocket Turret. We have one disable person playing Power Rifle Mechanist and he usually does decent damage and has done all Raids and Strikes with us. Both power and condi can also do Alacritity if you want. And the Heal variants while boring are solid. Not the strongest, just good. You also can play Hybrid in full Celestial if you want to play around. I even Pyloned Qadim 2 as HAM using Shortbow, Sift Signet and Rocket Boots. I often use Power Rifle Alac Mechansit with 40% Boon duration to Push in Soulless Horror (W5 first boss) without any help. I have also done two different Power Holosmiths and two different Condi Holosmiths 😓 I tried all three grand master traits where one build manages the heat and other build just over heats. This looks so good that it makes me even more upset about the state of Mesmer. Mesmer spear sucks. It's boring, clunky, the animations are uninspired, and it SHOULD HAVE BEEN a condi weapon. Or at the very least counted as a Blade to be used with virtuoso.
