- Despite not being everyone's cup of tea, gathering is a viable way to make gold. Lots of gold.
In this video I'll go over some of the most important aspects to increase your gathering output. Ranging from 3rd party resources you can use, to the difference animation speeds of gathering tools, the glyphs you want to be using, what builds work best, and which boosters to use as well.
There are quite a few Quality of Life upgrades you can purchase in the gemstore, even for gathering. I'll talk about those, but also about the free alternatives you might not be aware of.

The Cup of Light-Roasted Coffee is a life saviour!
This is like my fav activity in GW2. I log in every day to hit up all the elder wood nodes with a rune of crucible to convert them down

Count me in on the Gathering Krewe :D Because I am old and slow, with eyes that don't respond well to the flashing visuals in this game, the usual group content gold farms are definitely not fun for me - whereas a leisurely couple of hours gathering really is!
It is one of the things I often still revert to, just to relax a little :)

Same! These old eyes can't take the constant flashing visuals. It's so overwhelming. Whereas running around to gather is much more my relaxed jam...
i really wish anet would unify the cast times for all the gathering tools so their sales can actually focus on the cool animations they have.. instead of simply which is faster or how many times it strikes rich nodes. like their are certain ones i may want to get for their style, but feel put off to it because a boring one might cast faster. good informative video though
Thanks! And I actually completely agree with your point! Some of the cooler animations take rather long compared to the faster/fastest ones. I sometimes switch them for the look, but it's still irks me.
thanks for this excellent work. I would like very much for you to research and update the times. I am not into animation cancellation and I am more often than not just out in open world mining single nodes as opposed to rich ones - would love your comparison to take that into account. cheers
I had a lucky 2000 gold drop yesterday and with gem conversion i got vermillion gathering tools, and now i see this video :D time to mine and cut trees !

Great video. Well researched and concise. What do you considered the absolute best build for gathering? Deadeye with perma stealth?
Either deadeye with perma-stealth and Relic of Unseen Invasion (superspeed when stealth ends) or Scrapper with Elixir U and all gyros with Relic of the Chronomancer (gain quickness when using well skill).
It's a toss up between both for me, one day I lean the former, another day the latter.
Just watch anet nerf candycorn gobler since you keep mentioning how overpowered it is😂
It'd stroke my ego if they banned because of me, but a huge hit to my wallet :P
I love gathering, but not a fan of installing 3rd party stuff
No one has timed the Vermillion tools yet :(
I hope I can acquire all tools and eventually time them at some point. The problem is finding a 100% correct way to do so, currently stuck on that phase.
@@phandrel i hear the vermi tools are really slow. Default tool speed slow.
