Very good for me. Merci PJ, je suis fan...but Why use the command "extrude a straight curve" rather than "ribbon"? Is the result different? Amicalement Vincent
PJ, what CAD program would you recommend for a beginning jewelry designer? I’ve done a small amount of silver fabrication and I’m learning to facet gem stones. Thanks - Marion
I will recommand Rhino 3D for all the beginner. You can download the 90 days free trail at www.rhino3D.com There are over 280 videos on my channel to teach you this software. Once you are good at it and decide to have your business include more cad design. you can try MatrixGold. It is a plugin for Rhino for specific jewelry design. everything you learn from Rhino 3Dvcan be applied on MatrixGold. It will speed up your modeling but a lot more expensive than Rhino software. I also have a Rhino 3D for jewelry design course on my website for beginner. check it out at www.pjchendesign.com
thanks for sharing. any reasons you did not make the whole process on flat and flow it in one move? that would be 1. sweep one rail for the main volume 2. create triangles to cut (reverse of what you booleaned) 3. array triangles 3. boolean cut triangles (holes) 4. flow on curve (or surface). alternatively, cut with swept surface at the end. working with a plain, straight block and history on could be easier. but you are the master! thanks for sharing again.
I have RhinoGold. I also teach students how to build your own gem stone in my online stone setting course. you can check it out at pjs-school.thinkific.com/courses/StoneSettingModeling

What is most common ring size for both men and women
it depends on the design. In general, women size 7 and go up and down 1 size. men for 9 and go up and down 1 size are the most common ones.

That will work. There are always many different ways to build the same model.
@@PJChenJewelryDesign indeed, many ways. learned a lot of them right here ;)
Thank you for providing other solution!
Great!
Thank you!
I did everything until the end. And when all seemed to be perfect, on the last step, my boolean union fails. Why do you think is that?
i had the same problem. i had exclamation points all over. anyone know the solution or what could be causing this issue?
I have several video at Q/A session discuss why Boolean fail. You may want to check out of that. most of the time are the seam alignment.
PJ Chen Design thank you for replying! amazing tutorials
You are welcome Maya

how long does it take you to make an average model?
depends on the complication of the model
