Hey man, I wanted to let you know that your video on 33s convinced me I could get close to that with no lift and no mods if I stayed with stock GX 18s (mine is a 2011). I like the idea of tall skinny, so I went with 265/70/18 and to my delight and surprise, they clear perfect with no rubbing anywhere on stock wheels. No trimming, no bolt removal, no zip ties- NOTHING. These tires are 32.6”, but considering they are only 1/2” shorter than your 255/80/17 setup I was ecstatic I could get so close without having a ton of supporting mods. Thanks for the great video and congrats on a sweet rig.
Thank you for the information. Like you said, 265/70r18 is almost 33". No suspension lift, BMC, or other mods needed for it to fit? I'm just checking because most other people trying to fit this size tires in their GX had to lift it and do a body mount chop at the very least.
@@sz2435 Well it later on did develop a VERY minor rub, but only on the front plastic. NO contact with body mount. It mostly shows up when backing out on a hill. I didn’t realize the control arms position shifts so much fore and aft as you shift drive and reverse. But I’m still delighted with it overall, someday I’ll break out my heat gun and massage it a little, but this OEM 18s and staying narrow (255/265) is the ticket for maximizing clearance IMO. Any wheel of different offset- in either direction- is less clearance.
@@G5Hohn Thank you for your reply. Have you taken your GX offroad with the 265/70r18 tires? Any rubbing? I also have a 2011 GX and I'm exploring options to set it up to take it in easy/moderate trails. Cheers!
@@sz2435 nothing much really but studying now the suspension moves and the travel arcs, the rub is only the front wheels only with some steering angle and only minor.
@@achilles5197 😂 😂 😂 yeah clearance isn’t great, but it still rips! Don’t care what anyone says, I’ve had guys driving big ass Jeeps with 40s shocked that I was in the same place as them. And that was when I still had stock suspension with a leveling kit.
@@DeadOnTrail looks like you ran it about a year ago. I ran it a year ago as well with my 4runner on 33s. I have since done quite a few upgrades including 35s. It seems like a year ago was more fun / challenging, and this year it seems mellow. I cant tell if the trail got easier because of trail maintenance, or the 35s made that much of a difference 🤔 like you said tho, its a very fun trail regardless!
Yes, I would pass on that obstacle. Did it “scare” you? Just stay where you are we will go by you. NBD. I’m watching because I have a 4Runner and off-road also. Don’t knock the good rider because he or she knows what they are doing and flows on by. That in Lexus camera was STEEP!! I’m impressed.
Definitely fun trails. Out of curiosity, which did you think was harder, longwater or metberry? Cuz the trail difficulty ratings say longwater is the harder of the 2, but we thought the opposite and comitted to that for the videos we made of them
Where did you get the Lexus emblem for the wheel center caps? Planning on getting a set of 4Runner TRD Off Road wheels for my 2021 GX, the Lexus emblem in the center caps would be nice!
Just remove the toyota emblem from the hub caps first. I got my emblems off ebay just searched lexus hub cap sticker. I also added some 3m vhb tape to make it hold better.
Inspiring , I’m in Ontario with a 2017 , need to find some pro shops to lift it and do the front bumper , subtle so the wife doesn’t cry over her baby …😉….
That's the majority of ALL vehicles. 4Runners, Grand Cherokees, Wranglers, 460s, Tacomas, F150s, etc. Most people don't' drive off road. Hence it's a simply argument to make.
Ola Amigo, the question should be "can they hang with the GX" 😁
@4:45 chevy is like: yeah you 4runners can have that tougher line on the left, i'm good...
🤣🤣 my approach angle sucked at the time so I would have dragged on it so had to do the hard line.
14:50 "Two pints of booze, tell me are you a badfish too?"
Love that song. Great vid and nice GX. I have a 470 myself.
Thanks!
Dude. Those are aggressive ass trails! Crazy to see you hanging with the 4Runners, and you got cooled seats. Can’t beat it
Yeah just walks up stuff. Now that I'm on 34s it's crazy how good it does.
@@DeadOnTrail fricken awesome. I’m looking to build mine up. Just not sure what wheels to go with. Anyways, take it easy out there:)
Better drivers than me. No way would i do that at this point with my skill level in such roads. What fun is that!! Great video.cheers.
Yeah super scary stuff when your new! Having good spotters is key!
Love the 460 man! Things a beast! Pinky up

3:32 - overheard at every train in the continental US... "I did it without my locker"
🤣🤣 always
GX460 is a tank! I have one and it will easily hang with 4Runners and whoever else wants to follow
Whatever, front end clearance is garbage unless you have a lift and its heavy. Nice smooth street ride though.

Out of all the Toyota trucks I dig the Lexus GX.
I appreciate it
If your bumper is cut to have a better approach angle, your GX460 would be unstoppable.
If you check out the newer videos got a full front bumper and its been unstoppable!
One of my favorite trails in the area! Great video!
Ran hacket a while back, was bummed how easy it is now. Atleast the views are good
Yeah plenty of hard trails to do this is great for learning was my first difficult trail.

Brother in the open-diff 4R needs to learn two-footing. Rest your left foot on the brake. It's the poor-man's ActiveTrac.
Yeah two footing with atrac is almost as good as locker it seems
Lol stop bei ng humble. Those 4runners wants to be like the GX
Wassap with the 4 runner not locking in
He was locked just didn't have atrac on.
He sounds like he has a manual?
@@DeadOnTrail he said he was locked. He wasn’t…
I dunno. I did just fine on all 3 when I did them. So ya id say I could hang with them

Didn't end up hitting longwater. Your guys video with Dewie is pry fairly accurate.

Yeah just start hacking away, it's just a car
Did you find any shops?
Great obstacles challenges for GX. You and truck did awesome. Are you on lifted suspension?
Yup check out my other videos documented the whole process.
Would those 4runner rims fit on a stock gx460?
I like that LRD logo on the back. Where did you get that at?
Cruisergear.com
the thing mostly 95% of GX wont leave an asphalt to do this. I own 14GX and man it never seen off road since wife drives it.
You can say the same for jeeps!
gotta 2021 GX and it lives off road lol.. love it
My mom drives the GX but for the weekends we take it off-roading with a group

Driver. Driver. Driver. Driver. Driver.
🤣🤣 exactly
What’s the tire pressure?
15psi
Where is this trail located?
Just outside of Colorado Springs near rainbow falls
Awesome thank you! I’ll definitely have to check it out
What tires are on the gx? Looking at white gx460 and I have a set of those 4runner rims
255 80 17 those are some of the best wheels
@DeadOnTrail would this setup fit the spare tire area?
Good shit!
I appreciate it! These rigs handle some tough obstacles! More vids on the channel of some narly trails
I think gx did better then 4runner
Absolutely! Even with my poor driving skills at the time lol
@@DeadOnTrail i was suprised, but GX460 has full time 4wd plus that V8. Own one love it. Not doing offroads but 😁
What mods have you done?
Lots I have documented most on the channel but will be posting a full break down vid soon.
Run equal pressure at all 4 corners
When I am carrying a load in the rear I usually add more to the rear its a very common thing to do.
😀 also "driver" mean turn left bro....
Yup was definitely new!
Dude, you need to learn wtf the word "Driver" means.
You need to work on learning how to pick a line
@@ethanmathews182 😂😂😂
That was hard to watch.
Post something worth watch 😂😂 yah goof
GX460 does better than any of them…
First
ngl, music in background kinda ruins it do better next time.
literally my first video. maybe post a video before you talk shit.
Driver? Driver? Just say left or right.
That's what your mom said 😗😗🤷🏾♂️
