@@gregoryhall8414so much info. In this video! Now I so want to execute it and get it to where it comes natural. I am have really good wrist rotation in general!! Thanks Ed!! 👌
SOOOO GOOD, Thank you... master class from a pro is so interesting cause it s not just technic but technic with a purpose... great video again, love your channel
I love the breakdown of the paddle rotation and the differences between yours and hers. She starts out in front and finishes her rotation high but doesn’t move forward through the stroke!
One of the very best videos ever! Thank you Mari and Ed! I am a backhand dominant player with a table tennis background and I used to do this shot all the time as a beginner PB player. As I progressed in PB, I strayed away from using this shot as I started using my 2-handed backhand more and more. I am excited to rediscover my favorite shot!
Mari is the one pickleball player i cant skip over when im scrolling through my youtube recommended. Her matches are so fun to watch because of the slice she throws down. It just stands out against all the other players that hit the same shot with max top spin every single time. Thank you Mari for standing out!
Yes! Just the other day I was looking for Mari Humberg videos coz I wanted to learn her flicks and then you come out with this. I’m gonna learn this new just like how I learned to serve like Jaume.
ED ! Wow wow 🤩 and Mari, what the hell, such amazing details ! She is Such a Great teacher! I’m flicking in my mirror, then on my Dink Master😎 Thank you so much for bringing this video to life ❤you scored big time getting Mari to make this video and we love you for it ! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤this is a game changer!
Notice how Mari always set up her flick with a slice. She’s always waiting on a flat ball to come back after her slice so that ball will come high and already with top spin and then her flick will look neat as always, go Mari! 🇧🇷
This is now my all-time favorite flick training video - love the comparitive strokes piece! I have watched it about 7 times, and watch it everytime I go to a drill session, just as a reminder of how to hit it correctly, so I don't fall into bad habits. I am now hunting for more Mari and more Ed vids. So approachable and great quality. Thanks Ed! I am also a slicer, and find that at the 4.0 level, and thrown into the service return options, can actually be an offensive shot. Opponents have to think to alter their normal stroke before they can return it properly.
Mari you rock soo hard!!! First off you look totally different chilling then you do for a match, I almost didnt think you were really her. 😊 Thanks for sharing this flick with us. Your game appears to be asending and I will be supporting you. Ed you have a talent for creating brief instructiinal videos with overlays that can easily be refrenced. Keep up the good work! I
I have watched videos done by players ranked higher than Mari (male and female) and got little useful information from them. THIS was a useful video! Thanks Mari. Can't wait to incorporate this into Monday's drill session.
Wow she's fantastic! Brilliant lesson 10/10 thank you Mari - going straight to watch your other stuff. Ju 10/10 yet again! Thanks a million for organising it. Well happy but would have loved to know more about her slice return too.
Mari! Great instructional of your bh flick. It looks like the key to placement is not a hard hit but setting up for the rebound. Thanks, awesome Mari and Ed
This is fantastic, Ed and Mari! I got the chance to see Mari play in the MLP Finals a couple weeks ago in Orlando. The amount of spin on her flicks, slices, and serves when you see it in person is unreal! Super cool to see how great a teacher she is in addition to being a tremendous player! Ed…did I get it right that she is going over a bit into Eastern Backhand territory when she has time to hit this shot? I’m excited to see the next installment about her backhand slice…looks like she hits that with more of an Eastern forehand grip, and then switches over to Continental/eastern backhand for her flicks/rolls. Her serve in person looks more like a semi-western.
Wow. Love seeing her personality and teaching approach in this video. She seems like an amazing person. Interesting, it looks to me like the roll is a shoulder "lift" and the flick is a shoulder "twist" (which makes the bent wrist flick up). edit: She's so well spoken and confident on camera. I'm impressed.
Honestly was not a fan of her in the past, but she won me over now. You can tell her laugh is so genuine and she is also a straight shooter. Her shots are even more amazing than what you see in her games. Just one question, how can she handle the Waters with such an easygoing personality?
When Mari demonstrated the flick against the net her grip was in the backhand eastern (stop at the 3:29 mark to see)not continental, and as she stepped back to the NVZ line she turned her paddle slightly (the 3:34-3:35 mark) to be back in the continental grip. That slight grip turn does make that backhand flick more effective and more doable.
that slice dink is also quite nice. nice lesson. thanks for the share. :) I was thinking about working on my flicks and rolls but I think my wrist might not like the flicks.
I hit my backhand roll exactly like that. Well not exactly like that, mine has less topspin and my wrist doesn't rotate as much. Okay, mine mostly goes out as I flail and fall into the kitchen!! What a great shot Mari!!
Reminds me of the Peacock Mantis Shrimp. The fastest flick in the natural world. 50 times faster than we can blink. It kills its prey by clubbing it with its claw. Great lessons.
Wow I didn’t know much about Mari besides that she’s a backhand assassin. She is absolutely lovely. Thanks for sharing these gems Mari & Ed!
Me too!!!
Mari has gained a new fan!!! Thanks Ed. This was a great video.

Mari seems extremely friendly. Some pro players don't give a personable vibe, she seems like she'd be nice to any fan that approached her
She is nice. I talked with her in Naples last year and she couldn’t have been nicer.
It's the Brazilian personality
Most of them are approachable. They have their game face on but if you say hi, they'll chat with you
Best instructional video ever on the BH flick. I finally understand why I hit my BH flick into the net. Thank you, Mari and Ed!
Ed! You were so fangirling Mari but I am with you, brother! We need more Mari! She's superb!
Best instructional video I have seen on Pickleball. Please bring Mari on again. I am now a big fan of hers.
SOOOO GOOD, Thank you... master class from a pro is so interesting cause it s not just technic but technic with a purpose... great video again, love your channel
I love this girl❤ She is such a gem and has a wonderful way of teaching.
I can watch Mari play all day long, those flicks and slices are legendary
Mari is my favorite pro on tour. Let's go Mari!
My favorite too!
Mine too!

Bro, this and your serve video are SO helpful. Keep doing what you’re doing Ed 💪
I’m glad to hear that! Thank you very much!
Mari Humberg: the slice queen of pro pickleball! One of a kind
A great, thorough breakdown of the shot. Thanks to you and Mari for really showing every aspect of the flick from all visual perspectives.

I love watching your videos. As someone who is barely getting into pickle ball, I find ur videos to be very helpful. Look forward to ur next one.
Great video Ed, your videos have helped me so much!
Awesome video! I always find the small tidbits of gamesense and game mentality from the pros so useful for my own game.
What an amazing teacher! I could learn a motherload from her!!😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
This is gold. Thanks Mari & Ed! 👏👏👏
Hey, now we need more of her lessons about dinking like she does! I love these fast and spinny dinks!
Great tutorial, Mari & Ed. Now to drill & practice it. Happy holidays to all 🎉

Mari does absolute magic with her backhand!
Mari is a great teacher! Can’t wait to go try her backhand flick tips
Love to see this. With her playing with ALW it is hard to see how good she really is. Those backhands are killer

Skillfully done, and fun. Thank you Ed and Mari.
Great video Ed. Mari very down to earth and heaps of information.
Thank you Mari! Liked.
Like watching Mari move up the ranks in a short time. Great tips on this shot.

This is by far the best explanation of the flick.

Amazing production, Ed! 🎉
Wow! Mari is an excellent teacher!
Great video! Great content, great instruction, great editing! Thank you!!
This was the best!!!! Very informative!
Great explanation showing the position of her paddle at the end of the flick.
This is possibly the greatest pickleball video ever.. 👏
Dude thank you for this content
I like this video because her explanation is very detailed and technically - the when, how and why of it.
Really enjoyed this clip and thank you!

Mari for president! 🎉🎉🎉 What a lovely personality coupled with an assassin on the court! Wishing you all the success in the world in 2025!
Awesome video!! 😍❤
Another GREAT video🎉 Thanks ED!
your backhand is great i will try to learn to do this stroke well thanks for sharing
Mari has insane control and comfort with the ball from watching her catch balls on her paddle to picking up the ball with the instep of her foot.
