My e46 320d 150hp has the same knocking at cold starts but it goes away after a few minutes, I am a bit concerned about it. Did you have this problem even after engine warmed up?
@@dinodedic8562 I will advice you to take car to specialist for diagnosis as same noise could be bad injector or timing chain. In my case was bottom end bearing. Car is still not fixed.
@Car Stuff My car is at the shop at this time! They are replacing timing chain right now and chacking all injectors. It should be done tonight as they say so i will replay to you when i pick up the car later in the day.
From 20 cars repaired in last 2 years with the same knock, many costumers choosed to replace entire engine with a SH one. No point to repair the existing damaged engine. Even if the knock comes from failing bottom end/rods, so so many engine parts are affected by the grinded metal shaving that went into contact with basically all engine internal components via oil and via friction. So no point.
@@gimtadienis45 Yes it does, basically you will need a repair kit conrods, then to check the crankshaft for any damage and rectify it if neccesary. Then rest of gaskets, seals etc for engine rebuilt. Well..... this on in my case.
