Ive been a metalhead and huge hard rock fan since I was 12 years old, yet the Pet Shop Boys are one of my all time fave groups. Neil and Chris are simply incredible songwriters.
I love, despite them usually being "stiff" or stoic onstage, (like stereotypical brits), they were never ashamed to put on the most unusual clothes and make innovative videos. Like here, the iconic "elf" outfits with pointy cone hats, how do you even think of that? Chris and Neil are creative masterminds, be it with music or fashion (and of course their videos). PSB always had new things to show and create and that's one of the reasons why they are one of the best musicians ever. Keep going, Boys❤

I remember watching this as a teenager, and my Mum laughing saying "I Remember this". Now it's 35 years later, and my own daughter has her own love, and we all know about lost love. This song endures, the person who refused you. My mum from the 1960s, me from the 90s, and my daughter from the 2020s. We all need to learn about those who just tease.
by the way my mum who had a polio withered leg met my dad, they were married for 48 years, and they got four degrees between them. Legs are not a prophecy of good things. But she did give birth to me and my sister so yay.

"That first friend" isn't a secret code; it's a direct reference to a boy that the protagonist had sex with (and fell in love with) in school.
