I appreciate this video, I couldn't figure out why mine wasn't starting and there was indeed a tiny bit of old gas left. Started right up afterward, thank you!
I have had the same model for several years and been very happy with it and never had a problem starting it after using fuel treatment in the spring. However!! This year it would not start. Had to drain the gas completely and replace with fresh and it started right up. Going forward I plan to drain that gas each spring instead of getting caught with snow on the ground and No operating snow blower. Found your video after the fact which is great advice.
Dude you just saved me from a good amount of hassle. Mine was doing exactly what yours was doing, same model. I drained the gas and replaced with fresh and it worked after a lot of prior tries. All I can say is I'm very grateful for you and this vid right now.
Hey there, I have an OLD Ariens I bought used 6 years ago, a 926LE, I think it was built 20 years ago, Other than a few age related fixes the thing startsup and runs like a tank. I leave old gas in it no problem. I bought my mom a BRAND NEW 92005, looks just like the one you have and she and I could never use it because we couldnt get the damn thing started and tit was used less than 3 times. Tried a bunch of things like getting a new spark plug. Every year my mom just didnt bother and i was lost, as I bought her a brand new ariens and I'm pushing around an old tank. I found this video and got it started in 10 mins with just the help of 10 mm wrench. Thank you!!! It still tends to surge cycle if that makes sense when its not under load.
Proper storage is key! Have the sibling blower to this, a 921037 with the 292cc lct engine. Very similar design except bigger and has a throttle control. Hand levers not as fancy though. No issue starting on first pull each season. At the end of previous season I'll run the carb completely dry. Using a syringe suck out as much old fuel as possible. Also a good time to change oil and the unit is hot. At start of season (usually mid/late nov), ALWAYS put fresh 93 octane fuel. To ensure 93 fuel is getting into gas can, put a gallon first into the car. 3 Primes, 1 pull, always starts.
I run non ethanol gas with stabilizer. Make sure the tank is full before storing. Never have a problem. Ethanol is the killer and you'll eventually have to clean the carburetor.
Added Throttle Carb to 920021 Did this to mine. So nice having an adjustable carb down to smooth idle on this motor. From post I made a few years ago. Parts listed as well. Factory parts for this motor. Jan 2014 I bought an Ariens compact 24 -model 920021 with the new AX series motor built by LCT that only has choke control with a 3600 rpm governed engine. This replaced the previous Briggs and Stratton powered model that did have a throttle. When I ordered it I assumed it would have manual throttle control. Nope. That's progress I guess. I started contacting LCT and the only thing they had for this motor was a summer engine running throttle control. I dropped the idea and like Lowered Expectations from mad Tv back in the 90's I started falling out of love with my new machine. I never could get choke off all the way. The Obama carb is set too lean on this machine. Of the 4 positions on the choke I could never get past 3, it was too lean all the way open. Another piss off. The following year, the engine starts bucking and surging and now only runs half ass at 2nd position on choke. Power was down and Naybor's kept staring at me when I ran my yoyo motor. Kept getting worse every year. Well, last year I saw the Husqvarna machines and sonabitch, they got a 208cc LCT engine like mine and it's got a manual throttle!! Time to do some parts Research. I had to take a picture of the engine serial number. Compared parts between the two machines and as of today I've got total throttle control, adjusted the super smooth idle a bit lower than the new carb setting. And by golly. The thing runs awesome. Able to switch choke plate off completely for the 1st time and engine doesn't seem to starve for fuel from Idle all the way up! I now have what I really wanted 3 years ago! Here is what you do: Buy complete Carb and throttle knob for the Husky. Reuse the red choke knob, it sits on top of throttle control Complete Carb is LCT03091-white spacer is not needed. Grey Throttle knob is LCT53251 Bought parts from Sohar's in Ohio. Was $85 shipped Remove muffler cover. Lift off choke knob. Unbolt cover around carb. Carb cover has two electric switches that don't have to be disconnected. Turn fuel valve off and Disconnect main fuel line. Disconnect primer line. Lift cover over choke control and let it hang out of the way. Remove silver heat shielding front of carb. Unbolt two long bolts holding carb on. Remove inner carb cover, then start pulling carb off. As you pull it off disconnect the governor rod and spring beside it. Install new carb with new gasket from kit then build it back up. I did not order the governer from the husky. What I did was reuse the spring in the open hole that controls the throttle valve. The old governer rod is far too long (I just cut it short) and I found that the spring alone works very well and is a gentle governer that allows the engine to idle and throttle up nicely. It revs higher now but not too high I guess about ~4500 from the fixed 3600 tractor speed. Husky rates their throttle engine at 6.3hp. I am sure mine must run a bit better than that. For fun I forced the throttle beyond the spring governer speed. The engine roars! The engine torque had the machine starting to spin on the driveway. Bottom line is the machine now operates the way it should for those that are not throttle control challenged. The jetting of this carb is spot on, the engine warms up quickly and the choke control can be completely turned off after a couple minutes. Engine likes to idle nice and smooth and now I can operate at full or half power depending on the conditions provided by Mother Nature.
Yea I have an old ariens 926LE i bought used, and i bought this one from my mom on the reputation of the company. no idea why there is no throttle on here.
I have seen here on UA-cam, where others have been instructed not to use regular unleaded gas in the snowblower because it causes carborater fouling issues and u might want to use non-ethanol fuel to avoid that, as well as draining the old gas from the carburetor and fuel tank as u have shown.
I have the same model and same problem 1st start attempt every season. Without touching carb or draining gas. I remove the spark plug and squirt quick start in there. Plug back on and it starts up fine. Let it run for a few minutes. Always starts up first pull after that.
Mine starts with the first or second pul every year, just put stabilizer in the fuel before you store it, or always, I use Sea Foam, its first made in 1942 as a Stabilizer, it also cleans the system, get rid of moisture, its like magic.. watch Ariens videos, they say put stabilizer in in fall and spring start up, not a bad idea to use it always, it gets the moisture out and cleans your engine.. I had my Ariens over 10 years now, starts easily.. just use Sea Foam..
At the end of the season , the remaining fuel should be drained out then leave it empty for the summer and the next season fresh gas . Never have problems again same with lawn mower.
How do you empty the gas out I took that screw out and it was light green stuff came out and only a little bit came out not a lot the tank is full with last year’s gas how do I get it out ? Thanks in advance 🙏
I don’t know I’m using this for the first time I bought a home and it came with the home I’m trying to change the gas and don’t know how thanks in advance 🙏
Thanks a lot I got it running it was the gas in the tank it was real bad and the spark plug needed to be changed also thanks a million till your next video I’ll be watching 🙏🏽
Another crappy “Tecumseh” AKA Chinese motor. The sad thing is that I have one of these in my garage right now. Ariens didn’t do their homework before jumping on board with this manufacturer? Baby these motors and they still won’t last as long as a Briggs, Koehler or a real Tecumseh Snow King.

Glad it helped! Just don’t tighten your bolt too tight and break it like I did! (Not shown in video)
@@garagehacksChannel Yes thank you, I was very careful not to tighten too tight!
I have the same problem, thanks for the video. I'm going to do the same thing

This helped me get my snowblower started after being very discouraged! Thank you!!!
You didn't really clean the Carb though. Should be called "changing the gas"
I can't get over how many videos there are based upon this topic.

I always pay a bit more for 93 octane and i never have an issue. Typically I burnout the gas prior to storage.

I actually used a turkey baster to take the gas out it worked perfectly 🙏🏽
