    We go over the diagnostics and repair of this Cub Cadet 2X 24 IP snowblower model 31AM6HVRB10
    This is an MTD branded Powermore engine model 875-WU. This engine is the 243cc version with Intellipower function
    This snowblower just starts up and dies right back out afterwards
    We clean / rebuild Carburetor on this Cub Cadet 208cc snow blower engine when it will not stay running without continuing to prime it.
    We also clean the tank, flush the tank/lines, replace the intake gasket and go over the basic workings of the engine along with the Intellipower system electronic governor and speed control
    This is the same engine they are using on many MTD, Yard Machines, Yard Man, Ariens, Troy Bilt, Yard Max, Poulan Pro, Craftsman & White Outdoor Snow Blowers with the MTD Powermore IntelliPOWER Engine
    If the carburetor on your unit is completely gummed up you will want to replace it completely
    The part number is 751P22648
    We use parts:

    Hi Martin. Great video, these engines with e-governors are new to me, thanks for the explanation of how they work.
    Have you ever seen a snowblower with a gas cap that doesn't vent?
    I had that issue once, and it caused a similar problem.
    How does this MTD's gas cap vent?

    • @IndRepair
      @IndRepair  2 місяці тому

      I have seen the issue before on many things but I am not sure I ever remember seeing one on a Powermore engine. These do vent through the fuel cap or top of the tank depending on the design

    An interesting video would be taking an older engine and retrofitting to eliminate the electronic garbage if possible.

    • @IndRepair
      @IndRepair  2 місяці тому

      I am sure they don't have a mechanical governor here so the case would have to be heavily modified and a bunch of parts added. Definitely possible but probably not very logical to do. I will check it out once I have one opened up vs the original design could be interesting, no doubt

    I sold my Troy Built 2410 that I bought brand new in 2020 last weekend because of that Powermore engine on it. I’m thinking about buying an Aierns 24” Deluxe and it comes with a Chinese engine on it that is specifically made for Aierns from what I’ve read about it. Do you think the Chinese Aierns engines are well built or have you seen a lot of problems with them. Thanks.

    • @IndRepair
      @IndRepair  2 місяці тому +1

      These come with an LCT engine I believe? Just standard Chinese engines, don't see too many issues with them but not super high quality either. Seem build better than the Powermore, I would say

    So undoubtedly cheaper to produce, but are repair parts, expensive or NLA right out of the box?!

    • @IndRepair
      @IndRepair  2 місяці тому

      Actually, everything seems to be pretty cheap. Has $40 ecm, $50 carb and the coil, throttle motor and speed switch are not bad. Question is how long will they keep making them?

  • @Rein_Ciarfella
    @Rein_Ciarfella Місяць тому +1

    As with you, I’m not a fan of anything that is superseded with electronics. It’s just more things to fail more readily. Sitting in the shed most of the year the mice will have meals. 😉 I can also see a PCB cracking solder lines as it heats and gets very cold in the Winter - just a recipe for failure.

    These engines are all ready giving a lot of trouble and hardly any use at all, sadly I am not doing warranty work period 😮

    • @IndRepair
      @IndRepair  2 місяці тому

      Yeah, we used to do Menards warranty work and it was such a headache we stopped doing any of it for any company. We have seen so many issues and companies not want to warranty obvious design or warranty issues. No Thanks!

      ya, I think intellipower is a dumb gimmick and not needed for residential use. commercial snowblowing might benefit from that but if you're going to automate the carburetor like that, might as well just go EFI and skip the middle step of that intellipower crap. In fact, I've been wondering why EFI hasn't become standard by now. With all the maintenance you have to do on the carburetors pretty much every year, the extra cost of going with EFI should be justified.

    Battery is all fun and games until you need to buy $1000 batteries for your $1200 snowblower or mower 5years down the road.
    They are not thermally controlled like electric car batteries so they really don't last long. All throwaway. Not very good for the environment.

    • @IndRepair
      @IndRepair  2 місяці тому

      I definitely agree there. They would likely be much cheaper in a snowblower but the last small riding mower I did cost the lady $1,400. The mower was less than 3 years old and had lost 60% capacity

    No, it will probably be Battery operated no worries all more Weedwhacker wore and everything else will probably be battery not gas. They are putting small engine repair companies out of business guy

    • @IndRepair
      @IndRepair  2 місяці тому +1

      Yeah for sure, you a probably right. I just don't think it will fully be there in my lifetime, cold wreaks havoc on batteries so runtime will be minimal. We work on battery operated stuff also but much of it is being made to throw away anyway
