    How does this happen? Shouldn't the surgeon know what they are doing? Scary, but I'm glad I'm researching it before I make a life changing decision.

    I had a a mittleman jowl implant put in in 2006. I had severe pain and pressure swelling with molars gum bone and jaw the last few months...and the two last molars were finally removed. One was cracked and one was loose seemingly due to a crooked top tooth chomping on them incorrectly for over a year. It feels better since they removed the teeth but the complaint is not fully resolved. Does the silicone implant even go that far back after 14 years ? It feels like it may have migrated bc it ( or the bone) feels longer and higher up on that side. Trying to get a proper Ct scan by a PCP or Oral Surgeon was futile and to get a proper plastic surgeon or the original PS during this pandemic is impossible. My ENT neck and head surgeon is scheduled to call me to better direct me. I have some neck and throat issues too with a swollen lymph node so he may see me for that condition whether resulted or not ( I was thinking infection from implant) and hopefully give me a RX for a proper CT. Is a saggital ct the proper one? My insurance carrier did provide names of local plastic surgeons, so I am hopeful I’ll get properly treated asap as surgeons are scheduled to reopen soon. But I know plastic surgeons don’t want to correct other people’s work either so I sit wait and rot :( There’s no sign of infection visually at least per the oral surgeon, and no significant swelling on the outside of face. He doesn’t think my discomfort is related to my implant, as it may be tissue inflammation from trauma but my gum bone and jaw still doesn’t feel comfortable or natural. I’m concerned about migration and resorption and that this possibly needs debridement or removal! Possible Deformity as a result of same has made me very anxious. Can this be resolved fully without such an awful outcome!? Thank you for your help and advice.

      A 3D CT scan should show the implant. It is hard to figure out without seeing a scan and you the patiet.

    I recently had chin augmentation and am quite satisfied with the results and healing. I consulted with three of the top-rated, board certified doctors in my large metro area and presented the specific concerns raised in this video. Not one, but ALL advised that movement is rare and that screwing a flexible implant in place was a very bad idea. I guess time will tell, but it seems the technique presented here is somewhat controversial.

      I wish you luck. Many implant may not move, but many do move when not screwed as I get several requests a month to replace migrated implants. I can take several years, but trust me it is very common. I have a 30 year history and track record ofScrew retained implants, so definitely not controversial. I hope yours does not migrate if it does, call us.

    my surgeon refused to use a silicone implant, he said they move with time. he said "modper" implants are much better however the company have stopped producing them
    are there any alternatives to silicone implants?

    • @jniamtuiii
      @jniamtuiii  2 роки тому +1

      They don't move if they are fixated and that is why I use 2 screws on all silicone implants. Plus, many people don't use any screws and they don't move. Any implant can move. The problem with Medpor is if you have to remove it, It can fragment and be very destructive. Otherwise it is a good implant, just harder to fixate or trim or conform to jaw architecture because they are rigid. What ever works for a sp;ecific surgeon is a good choice.

    My Dr. said he won't use a screw in a silicone implant because it may get infected. I told him it seems to be so commonly done but he insisted. I thought titanium screws resisted infection and are very biocompatible? What can I say to him about this?

    • @jniamtuiii
      @jniamtuiii  4 роки тому +4

      I have personally placed at least 1,000 screws in implants over the decades and cannot tie them to infection. It is not impossible, but I know scores of surgeons that use them regularly. I have personally not seen an infected screw in over a decade.

    I had a chin implant surgery two weeks ago and I'm really worried if the implant starts to move. Right now there is no problem, but I am afraid that I can't live a normal life and move my jaw without the implant starting to move. How common is it for the implant to start moving and causing problems? And does the implant often move right after the surgery, or can it start moving after ten years for example?
    My surgeon is experienced, but she didn't use any kind of screws for fixation which is why I'm worried. :(

    • @jniamtuiii
      @jniamtuiii  4 місяці тому +1

      Most don't move, even without screws, but the ones with screws don't move. I would consult with your surgeon if you are worried.

    I just got one done last week but I’m already regretting the size as we chose to go for a size small but a medium would of balanced out better. Also my lower teeth are aching and my left side of the chin feels like it’s asleep sort of how when ur leg falls asleep idk if that’s normal

    Hello Dr Joe Niamtu, I would like to ask you one question about my chin implant isshue, If I can. I got chin implant 3 years ago and its placed in a wrong possition. I feel it while Im talking, because its too closed to my lower lip and thats annoying. I tryed massaging it and pushing it down, and its actualy helps and for a 15 minutes I have a good feeling while talking. Do you thing its possible to move it by myself down, if I will massaging it every single day?
    Thank you for your time, and

      @jniamtuiii  6 років тому +2

      No, I think that you can't move it, has to be done surgically, we do that frequently for misplaced implants.

    because of discomfort from the chin implant we decided to remove it and put a smaller one in. because of bone resorption the doctor did not put a smaller one in, so i have no implant but still a lot of discomfort, it hurts somehow and i have a dimple in my chin ever since it has been placed . what can i do to get rid of the discomfort, my underlip is also still numb and so i can not play my saxofoon anymore how i should play it

    • @jniamtuiii
      @jniamtuiii  3 роки тому

      Many docs do that, but I still see many implants move that were sewn in. Many doctors don't use any means of retention and have good success. Having said that, I get weekly email from patient with migrated implants. In my opinion, nothing beats screw fixation.
