    From Bimmerpost “The whole concept of the 'Adaptive mode' is simply what it says, it automatically 'adapts' itself to the driving situation and driving style. What you are finding is how it should work. Drive harder it will firm up the settings to Sport mode. Back off, will revert back Comfort mode. BMW's technical description state it works between modes and also uses the Satnav as a predictive function for bends, junctions, etc” I typically stay in sport , sport plus if there’s someone frisky and comfort on the rare ... very rare occasion maybe 1/50 of the time. As far as launch control .... you’re trying to get max output of a 190hp engine I mean great video but what were you expecting ? 3.8 0-60 times ? All launch control does is max out out of the engine it basically waits till everything is perfect ( yes you have to build boost ) and then launches. there’s a difference in launching 190hp 382hp especially when they weigh approx 3100lbs 3900lbs respectively as well. Launch an m340xi rated a 4.1 runs 3.8 top I’ve seen is 3.6 ... and the say it’s not an M car 😂 .. they just have to justify why the spent an extra 20k 🙈 anyways sry off topic but yes get an m340 and launch it you’ll feel it for sure

      I get what you're saying....I've had adaptive in my past few cars BMWs and others and it does work quite seamlessly and is noticable when you drive a non adaptive car. Wasn't expecting a 3.8 sec time from my 320d.....just wanted to see how it felt. I had always noticed launch was slower in my M140i than just flooring it. Hahaha M340i is quick car no doubt.....but yea it's still not a M car....yes the price difference is big but don't think of it as just outright speed. M cars are ready out of a box. M-lite cars need work doing to the chassis set up etc to handle better.....

      DownShift Throttle that’s the most descriptive answer and accurate I’ve ever gotten ... it’s funny how many times I ask what the difference is and the response is always “because it’s not an M” or “not a track” and my reply is always “how isn’t it ? What’s missing?”.. then nothing... most M ppl just regurgitate basic responses. They don’t know. All they know is 0-60 times which they can’t bring up anymore. I believe M performance was (generally)made for the daily drivers of the brand who will prob just go from stop light to stop light knowing that civic doesn’t have a chance. .. weekend warriors who might take it to the track once a month. M power is designed for one thing racing .. it foregoes the creature comforts, driving assistants , anything deemed too heavy to justify having. Taking out anything that will have an impact ,no matter how little, on handling or acceleration at any point in the track. M power squeezes every little drop out of the engine pushing it to the limits every second. The M340 could get there which would cost 20k more and lightening up a little bit in which just spend the 20k and get the M. Issues being that breaking and overheating which the m3 is built to withstand.That is the difference and that is why the 20k is worth it. Does it mean the M is better ... better than what ? On the track sure .. but the m340 doesn’t live on the track.... the question really is better for who in which case the m340 is better than an M3 depending on who buys it. I bought a m340 if I knew the new M3 was going to be made as an xdrive I prob would have gotten one because even though I don’t plan on it but I might have to drive it in winter. Funny thing is ... your 320d will be on the road longer than mine or an M3. So which one is the best ? Lol and we will all reply:
      “mine” 😂

    My 330i M Sport from Germany bought in Malaysia has no adaptive suspension. It doesn't even have an "adaptive" button if I recall correctly. It is using a "lift-related damper", whatever that means. Well it means it is fixed to a single mode and I am ok with that unless the road gets too bumpy

    Thanks for this vid👍👍, I loved the old hydraulic steering of the older BMW’s. Some ppl found them to heavy but I loved the handling of the e46 even the e90, when I bought my f31 this was my biggest disappointment. The steering just felt far to light even in sport mode I feel it lacks feed back. I was hoping the new g20 would address this and by the sounds of it, it’s abit in between which I’m happy with as I know they are never going back to hydraulic. Also how you finding the new gearbox compared to the zf?

    • @DownShiftThrottle
      @DownShiftThrottle  4 роки тому

      The steering has definitely got a better feel than the F30. Still not full hydraulic but it has a better feeling than before. The gearbox in the 3 series is a ZF therefore no problem!

      You have to 1) drive the car at least 6 miles, so the engine is properly warmed up. Then 2) you turn Traction Control button to OFF. 3) Push your gear shifter to the left and it goes from D to S. 4) Left foot floors the break, with break still floored 5) Right foot floors the gas pedal. The RPM gauge will move up to about 3000 rpm. Let your foot of the break, and VROOM! you will see the "Launch Control Active" light in the bottom of your screen.

    Hello, so I've tried the launch control on my 2019 bmw 330i xdrive with deactivating the traction control "hold the button for 3 seconds", hold the brake fully and push the gas pedal while still braking. What it did for me was it went up to 3000 RPM then suddenly dropped down by itself even tho i was still pushing the gas pedal fully.

      You do not hold the button for 3 seconds. Just click the TC button to put it in DSC sport. If you long press it (more than 3s), it turns traction off completely and won't let launch control work.
      So basically:
      1. Warmed up engine.
      2. Car in sport/sport+ mode.
      3. Short press (click) TC button.
      4. Shifter in S (not D).
      5. Floor the brake pedal.
      6. Floor the throttle pedal.
      RPMs rise to around 2900 and you will see a Launch control notification on your cluster.

    • @notoriousMrP
      @notoriousMrP 2 роки тому

      From neutral push the stability control off , then stick in sport mode , then push gears into sport mode . Put left foot hard on brake pedal . Now with right foot push hard down quickly to floor .
      Dashboard will say launch control active . You now have 3 seconds to release left foot off brake pedal keeping ur right foot flat down . If longer than 3 seconds gap it doesn’t launch and u burn out clutch .
      All this has to be down when the car is warmed up too , best after a 7 + mile journey
