Happy I saw the long video this morning! Still reminds me of my husband and I and our 45 year marriage, the heart fits. Life can be messy and chaotic as demonstrated in building the layers of the piece. In the end the foundation brings continuity and solidarity with love. My new favorite piece of yours! Your ideas are always inspiring, thanks for your time and effort to share!
Happy Anniversary again, Laurie!!! I love how you saw the heart and layers reflecting life’s ups and downs-it’s such a good metaphor for love and commitment. Thank you for making this piece feel even more special with your words!
Just love how you start out with no plan and create something so pretty - seems so loving ❤ definitely has depth and character- thank you for following the painting on where it needed to land and sharing the process
Thanks so much, Kelly! I agree! Sometimes the best path comes from letting go of the plan and just following along with where the painting wants to go!😊
I loved watching your process. Layer after layer, getting closer to the final. Also, all the different tools and marks were fascinating. The close ups at the end showed just how much depth you created. This video makes me want to get started on a new canvas right now!
I like the first orientation of the painting. I like your process of play into creation. It's something that I have been adopting into my own practice.
Love, love, love this Chris! These two up high on the top need each other; there's a co dependency going on with each boulder rock. They certainly need each other to stay on top. Hark at me sounding a bit deep.😂😂😂😂😊
Love your tutorials! They always give me something to think about and possibly play with. Thank you for taking the time to post videos to help others progress.
I did enjoy watching this video, Mookie the bird I'm raising and I think it's beautiful! She watched every move you made whilst snuggled in my hand😊. It has a lot of movement like it's been projected upwards, I can't remember their names off hand, but it looks like those teeny tiny jellyfish that you can't see but have a killer sting. This last part was mookies opinion😆😆 she literally pecked the keyboard on my phone so I thought I'd leave it, I know I've regressed to age 12😆😆 1A 12ss2
I'm so glad you and Mookie enjoyed the video! My ultimate goal is to captivate a feathered audience, so I feel like I'm on my way now. 😊 Box jellyfish maybe? I hadn't thought of that before but I love that perspective! Let Mookie know that I get what she's saying with her message and that I thank her! I hope Mookie and your 12 year old self have a wonderful day!
@@chrisloudart 🤣🤣🤣🤣 ah Mookie was pleased you are interested in captivating a feathered audience, she would give you a tail feather, but she needs all of them to learn how to fly.😆😆😆😆 I can't do anything much on my phone, she keeps interrupting, she's such a silly little bird. She has to grow to at least 32cm before she can be released currently she's 18cm from tip of beak to tip of tail and weighs 32g, so she still has a long way to go. Well, she's yelling at me so best go feed her, she really did follow your hand movements, good focus and good eye sight is what she needs for hunting. 😆😊 Cheers! Oh not box jelly fish they're one of the bigger ones, those ones I'm thinking of you can't see them in the water they're so tiny. Down the rabbit hole I go!
Love the delicate details. I know what I'll be doing when I get back in my studio. Thanks for the inspo! I like the first orientation. It reminds of two people seen from the back sharing a secret. 😊
I do love how you finished this one up. Queen is a great inspiration ❤❤ Best group imho. Orientation 1… I see two lovers. The heart fits perfectly. Well done Sir 👏
love this, ...as a painter that also does texture and interest building, i love seeing other artists takes on this. For me, the best stuff comes when i'm not trying and just building up the levels is fun. i end up taking a lot of pics in a process documentation way cause some of the layers are very cool, yet not my ultimate goal. if i had more money i'd prolly end up putting more canvas to the side as finished, rather than continuing the painting over process. What you did here is pretty simple and extremely effective, nice one.
Really appreciate it! It’s awesome to connect with another texture and layer enthusiast. I totally agree, the best pieces often come when you’re just having fun building them up and not stressing about the end result. One of my favorite things about recording myself painting is going back and seeing some of the earlier stages that can I use as ideas for future work. Keep enjoying the process and those cool layers!
@@chrisloudart thanks, and good point, i need to try videoing so i dont have to take still pics lol. lately i did a small piece with the idea of still animation or rather moving pictures, gotta figure out how to put all 96 pics into motion, so many ways to do things, super fun. by the way I'm in san francisco, where u at? 🌎
Call me crazy, but It looks a couple, head in head, just savoring the moment. Or two rocks in the top of two hills appreciating the view 😅 Loved it 😊 That lime green Is fantastic. I'll see if I get it in a local art shop ❤
Haha, not crazy at all, Susana! I love this lime green-I bet you'll find it in a local art shop. This was Liquitex, but several brands have it. Thank you!😊
One and a half mins in I saw a man sitting behind a broken window. Why? Who was he? He looked a little old tired sad. I loved this process. I try to do like but too often my colours get... You know muddy?😮 Fun though. Think I need better starting colours🤭 or maybe the ones when we are finished? Whatever, I'm most impressed by what you achieved 🎉
Thank you so much! I love the idea and possible story of the man sitting behind a broken window. I'll have to watch it again to see if I can spot him. One idea to keep your colors from getting muddy is paint with thinner layers and to dry the paint before adding more.
Initially (about 1/3 of the way) is saw 2 figures leaning against each other (they were the black and the 1 on my left was smaller) and at the finish I got a similar 'concept' but loftier. I'm not sure which I prefer ❤ thanks
This was so much fun and inspiring. I was sad that the "Egyptian" falcon/man god in black got covered over ( just under the 2 final focal areas.Definitely going off to play today!
Thank you, Sara! I'm so glad you found it fun and inspiring! ❤️I totally understand missing the Egyptian falcon/man god-I know what you're referring to. I almost went in a direction with that, but obviously went somewhere else. Have a fantastic time creating today!
I like it! The heart shape to me looked like the hood of a woman..maybe the queen in Snow White? The upper left circle looked like a magnifying glass over a road map of a city? Honestly, I would have had trouble covering up some of those lower layers, they were so cool. Always learn a lot from the videos.
Thanks, Denise! I love how you see those shapes and details! It's always fun to find those hidden forms in abstract art. I know exactly what you mean about the Queen of Hearts. I saw her in an earlier stage of the painting.😊
Position 1 defo and i saw 2 pictures, hills and rocks but my 1st sight was a couple cuddling, love your work, brightens and inspires my sundays .can you tell me what pad you work in please? it seems good quality 👍🏻
Thanks so much for your kind words, Marc! I love the view of hills and rocks! I did this on a Canson Mixed Media pad with 98lb (160gsm) paper - amzn.to/3CfHu2M
Glad you enjoyed it, Susie! Moving from smaller to larger pieces can be tricky at first. I like to think of a larger canvas as a sibling to my smaller work, giving myself the flexibility to make changes while viewing it as an expanded version of the original. It’s easy to overpaint on bigger pieces because the size can make you feel like you need to add more, which might drain the painting’s natural energy. I hope that helps! 😊
At 03:38 when you put the frame over the background, I saw a female figure with a middle-eastern headdress which could have become an altogether different piece, but your muse took you to an alternative place. No less interesting, mind you.

I’ve got a messy background painting that was waiting for your guidance. Off I go! Thank you!
You’ve got this, Suzanne!😊
Yes, definitely a couple cuddling up in a blanket. Lovely! ❤
Thanks, Mary! I think we see the same thing 😊

Definitely saw a couple developing, especially after you pointed out the heart shape ❤
Thanks, Cindy! 😊I love how different details can reveal new layers. I didn't notice the heart until I walked away and came back.
I loved watching your process. Layer after layer, getting closer to the final. Also, all the different tools and marks were fascinating. The close ups at the end showed just how much depth you created. This video makes me want to get started on a new canvas right now!
Thanks, John-so glad you enjoyed the process and found it inspiring! Grab that canvas and have a blast painting!
I like the first orientation of the painting. I like your process of play into creation. It's something that I have been adopting into my own practice.
I'm glad you're finding the playful process helpful for your own art! It can make painting even more enjoyable.

Hey Kari! Thank you so much! I love that view of this one-the co-dependency between boulders.❤️
@chrisloudart thank you Chris 😉

Vielen Dank!
Looks so easy-takes practice, practice, practice. Very groovy.
You’re right, it takes practice! Thanks for the groove, Rich 😊
Very cool. The horizontal orientation with the circles on the left is what I like best.
Thanks so much, Ann!
Love your tutorials! They always give me something to think about and possibly play with. Thank you for taking the time to post videos to help others progress.
I truly appreciate that, Dave! I'm so glad you like them.😊
and again very inspiring, I see two people close together
Thank you so much!😊
Always enjoy watching your process.
Prefer the first orientation ❤
Thanks so much, Cheryl!❤️
When it started to come together I immediately thought of the rock scene from Everything Everywhere All At Once. Thanks for sharing!
That's such a great visual connection! I love that movie!
J'adore Chris ❤❤❤❤ merci à toi pour ces beaux partages ❤❤❤❤
Merci beaucoup, Martine!❤️ Passez un merveilleux week-end !

First time watcher. Love how you esplain what you are doing and why the colors. I like #1, reminds me of Gorman's work, from the past.....
Thank you so much, Amy-and welcome! I have to admit I'm not as familiar with Gorman's work as I should be. Do you have any favorites?
Great ideas. If have paint left - can get abstract backgrounds done.
Thank you kindly, Lynn! Yes, definitely-I have a lot of backgrounds created from left over paint.
Glad I discovered you. Great work and clarity with explanations of your process.
I really appreciate that, Lou! It means a lot that you’re enjoying the work and the process explanations.
I do love how you finished this one up. Queen is a great inspiration ❤❤ Best group imho. Orientation 1… I see two lovers. The heart fits perfectly. Well done Sir 👏
Thanks so much, Amy! We share the same opinion on the best group!
Just amazing 🎉
Thank you so much!❤️

I see buddies huddling for warmth, with Greenie (on the right) offering up some hotness so poor little Bluey doesn't freeze. 😄
🟢🔥🔵 Love that interpretation!😊
This really helped me as I have a lot of background ready canvases and then don't know where to go. Too much thinking mind.
I'm so glad this helped! It can be tough getting past the "thinking mind". It's amazing what we can create when we trust our intuition! You got this!😊
Orientation 1 is my favourite 😍
Thanks, RevSonya!❤️
Hi !
I see a couple cudling under a blanket. 🤷🏻♀️ so 1 or 4. I enjoy your videos a lot. 👏

loved watching this…thanks. I seem to be able to do lots of small pieces but have trouble translating them into larger ones…any tips?
Glad you enjoyed it, Susie! Moving from smaller to larger pieces can be tricky at first.

Thanks Krista! Love that view!😊

Hey Tom! I know exactly what you're seeing. I saw that and almost went in that direction.
Looks like you have a couple who are enjoying just being.
My feeling exactly, Jeanne!❤️
💖🙏💖
There's a face in the❤
I almost went in the direction of using that face more in the painting at one point. I'm so glad you saw it 😊
The side orientation looks like a whale kissing pebbles. Lol #4
Hey Candace! That's a fantastic take on this ❤️
