7:58 That was a 15-second sustained note by the guy second from the left. That's incredibly impressive lung control. Whether or not you like barbershop music, you have to give these people credit for being amazing singers.

I happened to be one of the 15 judges on that panel at that event and am pretty certain I gave that the highest score I've ever given a quartet in contest. And, having seen it again many times I'm so thankful that is true and I probably should have given it a few more points. :) Well, actually, I didn't have many left I could possibly give anyway. So entertaining and well sung!

Im a little drunk while writing this, but... How come I'm not finding any hype in the comments about what they did between 5:03 and 5:44 ?!?
I mean... They had a 40 second break, after which they were able to hit their target chord straight on, without slipping from their key at all. And the most brilliant parts about it are the things I didnt even hear on the first listen-through. During that break, they are vocalizing their key in small snippets, but their banter is engaging enough that you dont even notice it! Again, Im a bit tipsy right now but that just struck me as genius gold.

That combined with the showmanship and the barbershop “choreography” put it over the top! I felt like I was living in 1962 and on a date with my boyfriend at the pharmacy/Ice cream parlor😆😊 i showed this tag to my girls the first time i decided to show them barbershop when they were around 4 and 2.

My father sang Barbershop harmony until he passed away in 1998. We lived in Miami and he was the president of the Miami chapter for years and his best friend was Gene Cokecroft from the Suntones. My dad also was in a fun quartet with Gene called the Opa Locka Gas Company. This brings back so many wonderful memories.

Some of those "new songs" actually ARE getting close to 20 years old....... Well, "Bye Bye Bye" and "Oops, I did it again" are both 15 years old. I think a NEW song that would sound good when sung by a barbershop quartet is "Nearly Forgot My Broken Heart" by Chris Cornell.
