The fact that everything works is phenomonal. Getting the engine electronics to talk to the chassis electronics beyond ECU functions is incredible. I've 1JZ swapped a Cressida and the wiring was by far the hardest part and even then I couldn't get certain chassis components to work
Great idea to have Ken and one of his cars featured on here. He's always been one of my favorite drivers really cuz he seems like such a cool ass dude and down to Earth.
Trust me anything with a "fan base" is a collectable- Dodge had a massive following on their stratus back in the early 2000's that's to the 1996 super sport touring races.
Met ken gushi when I was 14 he was 17 when he had his green 240sx coupe at the expo center ,hot import dayz.still have his signed poster/card with the coupe on it.cool guy actually sat there and listened to my million questions about his car. 😂 p.s his dad looks like bunta
I have a 2005 IS300 and a 2013 Fr-S. I have absolutely no faith in the GT86 because of the FA20 but my IS will be kept in the family for years and years. Thanks for the great vid!
i was talking to my cousins about making a sequential street car, they said it wasn't practical. Thanks for the video and further inspo to pursue my dream build
Anyone remember reading about Ken when he wasn't even an adult yet? His dad taught him how to drift before he even hit puberty, now look at him! He's an international drift star
You can go sequential for cheaper by getting a T56 and buying a Sequential conversion kit from S1 conversions for $1100 I think it costs idk what the price of a new or used T56 costs and you can do it with a TR6060 aswell instead of paying $15k for a full sequential. You could go the extra mile and get straight cut gears for the sequential sound and dog rings but you don't need all that cuz the sequential conversion takes the abuse off the transmission cuz you'll never miss a gear like you could with H pattern or money shift either. It'll extend the life of your trans big time
The S1 shifter will never shift as fast as a real sequential Motorsports gearbox or be as reliable. It also takes a lot more physical effort to do shifts on an s1 bolt on shifted synchro t56 than on a real sequential gearbox.
As far as shifting goes with a motorcycle it's the same, just give a little pressure with the foot, as soon as you roll back the throttle shift up a gear clutchless. Do it right and it feels smoother than with the clutch.
that sequential trans reminds me of a motorcycle transmission where you can do clutch less upshifts but you do need to use clutch in the downshifts if you don't have a quick shifter. even down to the clunks when you downshift to first.
I know there's actually quite a few street driven sequential cars in the US But they are 1/2 mile/roll race cars, so they all make 1000+hp (2000+ in many cases) so "streetability" is debatable. I mean they get driven on the street, but they are loud AF, Smell like a methanol fire, and catch on fire sometimes, so it's about as fun and safe as lighting your camp fire with a hand grenade. If you want to see what that looks like search "On fire at 150mph with no breaks" its on 1320 video, and filmed in my home city of Denver! 🤣 Edit: That video actually gets pretty dicey, so to save any anxiety attacks know that all parties make it out unharmed.
That was so much fun ! Was like shifting dimensions ! This guy drives stripped out race cars so often he loves an interior. Many cars can have a more fitting interior but you can still take some weight out. Which is the point. I like this guy he has enthusiasm to the max, he has fun! Which is the cool kind of car guy! You want to hang out with.
Watching you fan girl over the clutchless shifting is hilarious. I’ve watch a free other UA-camr’s set up clutchless shifting on these trans’ and it takes A TON of work so I can really appreciate this.
I wish Gushi Mayne had a shop here on the east coast. My R3 Rx8 could really go for a 1jz swap with full interior and A/C lol. Angle kit, and a swap, with A/C is a dream set up for me. A90 Supra will be my daily soon and it’ll be time to build the Rx8
shifter is the same as a Sportbike, I have a quick shifter that cuts ignition on up shifts and the same sensor can blip the throttle on downshifts so I never touch the clutch except to launch
@@wannabecarguy I fell in love with an S13 that had a 1uzfe with ITB's. It looked so rad. It was so snappy. It was perfect for drifting. I have always been a sucker for V8 and muscle cars. I have had a couple. And owned an s12. A 1uzfe would be the marriage of these 2 things.
I tried my Sequential Shifter on Assetto Corsa the other month.. I havent plugged my H Shifter back in since lol. I run EVERYTHING in Seq and its amaaaaaazinggggggggg.

Im building my wifes is300 right now its identical pretty much, but i have been doing swaps for years.. my first swap was 11 years old i swapped an iroc front end on a berlina camero.. i can go on for years nearly doing 100s of swaps. As far as tranies go the r154 is perfect and cheap only 3k but they can reliably take up to about 550whp with a twin or triiple plate os giken, also with a serial 9 bell housing and cd009 you can use a S1 sequential shifter they use a similar display liftless shifting is standard in a lot of aftermarket ecus, but i have aristos every gen supra im also wanting to do a turbo 1st gen 1UZ in my 100 series landcruiser, i also have a 1800lb 1969 opel gt with an altezza beams 6sp 3sge in it!

finally, someone who thinks a full interior makes sense. full interior all day.
👏👏
It 100% makes sense in any Lexus Is300 or GS300 or any old Lexus for that matter maybe a couple things could get taken out but that's it.
Right there with you. Full interior and driving it to AVS with ac

When they comment about the A/C working and A/C blowing cold... It totally suit a local slang/term used in Malaysia car scene
"Air-con sejuk"
In Pa is300s with the 3.0 go for around $500-$4500 manual or automatic
Ken gushi's car is a huge flex is what it is 👌🏼

Shout out to bro cuz I was starting to think getting a drift car the cheap way was getting a old corvette.

I think there’s a market for daily driving sequential. The can probably cap it at 500whp.
That cars on A whole nother level. Street car, lol..... DRIFT BEAST.

This is probably the only time when your transmission is louder than the exhaust is a good thing
Hmm nothing much... Just cruising through the traffic on a sequential gearbox while watching a movie on screen 😎
