I appreciated how Sung showed a touch of vulnerability, stating that most of the cars he’s been involved with were more on the side of marketing purposes. However, this Z is truly his own, embodying his genuine passion for classic JDM cars.

I have owned many 240-Z cars, I used to go to all the u-pull-it junk yards and collect many spare parts. I daily drove a 72 240-Z for 15 years, never let me down. I knew every nut and bolt on my car, tuned the SU-Carbs myself, ran a 280Z L-28 flat top piston bottom end with a P-90 Turbo Head, Euro Dizzy "re-curved by Don Potter", early three screw Carbs, Hayashi Wheels, Koni Shocks on Euro Springs. I auto crossed my Z a few times. I only sold my Z when I started a family and needed a back seat. I know where Sung is coming from.

Took me 15 years to get it back on the road because I wanted to have all the cool stuff. I'm now in the process of getting my triple Weber DCOEs restored by Mike Pierce. Can't wait to get it back out on the road up here in Northern Cali. We are blessed to have good weather all year round here to enjoy our cars! Didn't realize Sung was actually as much of a car guy as he is. It's actually refreshing to see and know that someone from the Fast and Furious franchise outside of Paul is actually a genuine car guy. Fitting that he debuted in Tokyo Drift as it was the last movie in the franchise that was actually still about car culture.

I especially loved his description of finding the true driver’s car experience. It’s not about power and speed it’s all about the experience. Love it! There's a kind of love for these types of hobbies that manifests as an enjoyment and appreciation but the highest level of love includes respect too. The way Sung talks about the history of the car and the people involved in the creation of it, both then and now, and the workmanship that other people contribute, the detail, is really great. If more people appreciated the things the way he does, the world becomes a better place.

Sung is exactly right! The cars that are fun, simple, that you have personally spent time and effort on ARE massively different from the big shop built, flashy, big HP and mega expensive SEMA type builds. One is personal to you and it is special because it is yours and you know every little thing about it and you can use it all the time without feeling guilty, while the other is...I don't know how to explain it...'manufactured' might be the right word or feeling for it.
It is similar to art I think. Art you make yourself is just different than art that is pumped out and sold for profit.

So many parts I recognise from the front Spook Spoiler to the Smoked headlight covers, I used to build a lot of Z's and 510's with parts from companies long gone like Bob Sharp Racing, Boulton Parts, Mulholland suspension and exhaust, Essence Wheels, AK Miller Turbo's, Bolder Tint window name tints and on and on, great to see a clean Z time machine!

Haha Sung has sang... the fact he cut his shoes for a thinner sole to drive more comfortable speaks. Great video as always Larry.

I'm also on the same path as Sung in building my E30. A car I build for me, no crazy HP, just a drivers car

Tao de Machina. Zen and the art of horsemanship. Sung speaks truth to the heart of every knuckle-bustin' gearhead.

Sung, man I hope you see my comment, my first car was a Datsun, and that is one beautiful car. I'd love to drive that there, like you say, a 53 year old car, I love JDM motors, I'm currently in a 2017 Mazda, but that Datsun there truly is soulful. Love it. Thank you for this video Larry. Incredible.

My favorite cars out of the 75 I've owned. 1972 240, two of them. Balanced and quite nasty if you wanted them to be. Always so much fun to drive.

Great video Larry, I’m 76 years young and back in 1972 my Buddy had a 240-Z, so many road trips in it, it’s amazing to me there still so popular, keep up the great work. The Fiesta Flash

Reminiscing Sean's moment again in Tokyo Drift by listening to Sung's interesting point of view. "What's the point of having money if you're not doing anything positive with it?" I love seeing both car enthusiasts exchanging ideas and perspectives about car culture, the arts, and life.

So good to see Sung Kang in a good place in life now . When you realize that 'ego' does you no good .. And that you're able to drop, or just majorly lessen 'ego' in your life - That's when you are able to live more . People need to understand, this car is an extension of him and what he feels represents his life at the moment . It's not just about speed anymore, Sung Kang know he's older now. It's not only about speed anymore . This is something most car enthusiasts find hard to grasp , because everyone's so caught up about speed, performance, and being able to shoot flames from mufflers, etc . lol .. Also, he's just happy to have a toy he personally built up .
