A fellow motor enthusiast here. My grandfather owned a classic car restoration & dealership when I was a kid, so I grew up around all the classic 50s-70s cars, esp of the muscle variety. I didnt have a chance growing up around that much HP... haha I just recently found your channel, and as a professional perfectionist in the field of quantitative strategy development, I absolutely love your attention to every detail, to leave not bolt unturned, and doing rebuilds or upgrades the right way. Producing some kick-ass content in the process. For someone whos also a workaholic and has something always playing in the background while Im developing new trading & investing models for institutional clients, its great to have interesting content, and diversify a bit from music. Any rate, I realize this vid is a year old, and nobody will likely see this message, but im putting it out in the ether, and just want to say appreciate your work! Cheers Guys

Kind of a lateral trade, the BMW is nice but the is300 will always be more reliable even if it is old. Another simple upgrade to the is300 would be ls400 front brake calipers, cheap and easy front big brake kit.
Did this with jetskis a few years ago, bought a beater with a ton of great parts and sold off all the parts. Rinse and repeat until I got the jetski I wanted.

“Reputable” shop plus outside BMW tech said it’s blown due to poorly executed Oil filter housing gasket replacement where they didn’t bleed the System properly. So either two different sources lied to me or the main bearing spun and spit metal shavings into the oil. We will see

I know you guys mainly focus on performance but can we get a video at somepoint with longevity mods? For example I have a 96 f350 with a 7.3 what mods can I do to keep that motor healthy and make it stay a work horse.
The problem with Plasti Dip is people apply it like paint and then it's impossible to peal. I'm no specialist but from what I know, it must be much thicker then paint to peal properly after.
Love the concept of trade up.. great idear personally im not a big jdm or even a car fanatic.....but i just love watching the teams work and idear transform into great cars.....
Guys these video's are fine and all but before taking on all these new ones, how about finishing some of the old ones like the Z car and the Civic? They've been in the works for so long and we'd like to see them finished to see how they turn out.

Exactly. I could see if they did some minor repair or if it had a "blown motor" when they bought it but maybe just needed some minor fix that cost more time and knowledge than money.
I just mentioned that too. Craig though has more experience, although Throtl can get more expensive parts given to them for free or at discount. But...Craig has German.
I want a side by side comparison in a video like this; have some one else take as close to the same car as possible, change nothing but spend the mod budget towards the trade in and see who gets farther. You got thousands of specialized skills and equipment going into this.

What I love about throtl is that they just accumulate all the parts for the build and jus do a complete build in no time

I hate plasti dip, best thing I found to use is wd40, it just melts the dip and it's easy to wash away with warm soapy water.

If your going to replace tie rods you have to do an alignment. And if your replacing sway bars you might as well replace the links

The GE’s make 400- 450 safe with a turbo kit . Upgrade head gasket and studs and you are making decent power .

Only things to make this a better build is some aero mirrors for is300 and odd spoke wheels rather than even number spoke wheels.

Plastidip is only hard to remove if you put it on wrong lol Plastidipped my old car's hood and took 10 minutes to peel it off years later.
100% that just looked way too thin on those parts.
