Doors won't open unless you do a lot of scratch building yourself. These 1/8th scale Monogram/Revell kits are basically upscaled 1/24th scale kits. A bit more detail, but not a lot. I still love them though.
Yeah, but, with such a large scale kit, the plastic will be a little thicker than the standard 1/24 kits. So, it would be a little easier to "scribe", the door and trunk lines, with little error. This is probably a expensive kit!
@@ronaldgreen5292 That is true. But still a lot of scratch building making hinges, the panels inside the door openings, sills etc. And yes, these kits are quite expensive. I don't have the Trans Am, but I'm lucky enough to have found the '65 Corvette and the '32 Ford Roadster second hand for a reasonable price. Still in my stash waiting to be built. :)
I had barely begun my model of this Pontiac Firebird, when this Tremor began. Shaking right hands and arm made impossible to build it. So I gave it away. Before I had started building it I decided that the body should be painted in Humbrol nr. 222(Metallic Blue)
Hi Will. In 1981, I bought my first car, a new 1981 Trans Am, blue. I had it for 13 years, restoring it twice. The second restoration meant a new paint-job (that didn't match the original blue very well) and the Mylar screaming chicken hood decal had to be sacrificed - gone forever. Linked in this note is a video showing the same car I'd owned (not mine, though), with the correct shade of blue that was used in a small number of Trans Ams. I recently bought the Revell 1/8 scale 1979 Trans Am a few months ago, and will be keenly watching your build. I'm hoping you will go for this colour in your build, as that was what I had owned, and will wish to know how to get the colour scheme just right. All the best wishes to you. Enjoy! This big kit should have came with opening doors and trunk!!🤔🤔 In this scale size, it should have came from the factory like that!! It would be nice, just to build it like it is, but, at the same time, Lame!, If you don't make the doors and trunk open! 🧐🧐
I love those big scale kits brother and thank you for sharing ❤😊
😎 certainly is a big old girl ,will be good seeing this built 👍👍.
Something a little different from the norm, should be a fun build
kinda like to see it as the "Smokey and the Bandit" car, but that's me Dane
