I watched this video last night. Thinking, I'll get the kit later at some point. Woke up this morning, watched this video again. I ordered one. Such a great kit for the money!
Sweet kit, I had this kit back in the late 80s, early 90s - I believe it was a Monogram release originally, and if my memory serves me correctly, it was molded in orange, with molded in black pieces. I built mine with the radials, mags, custom intake with the dual carbs sticking out of the hood. I took apart an old radio for the wires, and they became plug wires. Even though it was molded in orange, I sprayed it with a can of Testors orange.
You know I bought the same model kit back in the late 80's from monogram and today I still have it,but I want to get this one, awesome, Merry Christmas to all modelers, safe New Year 🕛🎊
Great video Tim. I bought this and the 57 back in late 80's, had both of them on my coffee table in the living room of my first house. Until I started having kids, lol. Fifty bucks, WOW!!
Great unboxing Tim. Yesterday I got 2 in the mail from mega hobby. I think they were 46.00 a piece. I got the original monogram kit from 88 on eBay a few yrs ago for like 200.00. Wish I had waited.
I remember in the late 80's or very early 90's K&B Toys and Hobbies had these discounted to $15 -$17 each. I scored a couple of them. They also had a 1/12 '67 Corvette 427 Coupe and a 1/12 scale '57 Chevy. I kit bashed a lot of them . I do have 2 of the Chip Foose editions. Thanks for sharing and Happy Holidays!
I started one of these years ago and put it back in the box. My vision was an 80's street car with the tunnel ram, adding an Accel Super Coil under the hood, lakewood traction bars, jacked up in the back with Cragars on it. Still sitting on the shelf waiting its turn.
$50 for that much plastic is an absolute steal. This kit has probably been released so many times over the years that it paid for itself a long time ago and Revell can put it out for so little. I'll have to see if I can find one.
Thank you so much I watch all your videos man I been doing models since I was a boy in the 70s built hundreds still got most of them got lots of kits I love model cars I just found the jungle Jim Vega 1/16 scale flip body drag car. I was so happy I got two keep one boxed other one to build keep your videos coming brother looking forward to next video I’m gonna get one of these 1969 Camaro models guy had one at flea market wanted $400 I said that’s crazy so now there out again I can get one thank you
It's cool because I did those 1/16 funny cars in the early 70's. That Jungle Jim Vega kit is from 1973. Then, my goal was to put kits together as fast as possible, lol.
Awesome back when that Camaro kit came out the first thing I did was turn it into a pro street with aluminum back half and brass tubing frame rails I took it to a model show at a shopping mall and everyone was asking where I got the big tires and roll cage I had sent the model companies letters asking if they will be doing any large scale drag models never hear back from them think I still got that first pro street model I built it is black with blue purple and pink stripes along the side of the body
@THROTTLEPOWER yes it was I had a blast building it I wonder what the price tag is at Andy's hobby headquarters here in Glendale Arizona if he has any I have a few original Camaro kits and one that was started and never put together I'll have to dig that Camaro build out of my storage shed and do a video of it happy holidays to you a safe new Year's
Thanks for the video. I will be picking up a couple of these in the coming year. There are a LOT of aftermarket folks out there as 3D explodes. I am going for the Pro Street/Drag Car look. Great kit and glad Revell has stepped up their game. Their Z51 Corvette was an exceptional kit IMO.
Great unboxing Tim. You could do a weathered street machine, kinda like a survivor barn find. I would like to build this kit, but im like you "where do I put it" 🤷♂️ 👍😎
This is a cool kit. I had to order one after realizing that the price was lowered. 😅 It's also cool that they preprinted the back up lights on the tail lights.
I have 4 of the older versions. Two of the orange box art and two of the Foose versions. I would like to build at least one and maybe two of them in the future.
I built one back in 2000 when it was re-released. It got best automotive in show that year at my local model car and the county fair. i have it now in my showcase still looks good. I have been wanting to build another one, but not pay collector prices for one. i may have to pick this release up, but where will I put anther one!
@@THROTTLEPOWERI actually plan to build the Camaro next year. I bought a touch up gun to run on my big compressor to paint it lol I figure it would be easier then using a few Tamiya or testors cans to paint that monster!
Great kit and priced well. If only Hobby Lobby would get this and it would be part of their 40% off bi weekly sale. I mean,a guy can dream. Lol. Great video.
IMO You should make it a daily driver weekend warrior build. If you could actually add the coat hanger antenna and little things from the past would really be awesome.
Looks awesome but you think for the size of the kit that they would do the rally wheels in three pieces like the real ones so you have them silver and crome ring and center caps
I have the Foose 1/12 scale 69 Camaro still sealed up.....Im going to get a couple of these kits! Great job on this video my friend. When I build it it will take me a long time...I want to pro street it and add a bunch of details...These larger kits really benefit from adding details.
That's a great kit but I sold all of my large scale stuff and swore off large scale years ago, I decided I have more than enough 1/25 projects to get through.
That won’t fit in my paintbox for sure😂 Aftermarket needs to get on the upgrades like wheels/tires, engines, kits for opening the doors, pro touring frames🔥

I'm going to say the same thing I said in 1988 when this thing first came out... What were they thinking having a kit this big without opening doors and deck lid? I would not be interested in this even if it was a Mopar...
Exact copy of the revell 1/25 z28 camaro Wish they included parts for a 396 ss Or even better the revell monogram 1970 heavy chevy in 1/12 That would be awesome 👌
Cool kit 😎 69 was a good year 👍

Cool kit. I built a 1/12 revell Chip Foose '69 Camaro a few years ago. I added a lot of extra details to it. Can't wait to see you build your kit. 😊
Aaaaaa, very cool John!
That's a really cool kit thanks for sharing 🙂🏁Merry Christmas 🎅
It really is and Merry Christmas to you as well! 🎄🎅
The problem with these three and one kits I always have to buy three of them so I can build each version 👍👍
Yes, the options make it hard to choose just one build!
You know I bought the same model kit back in the late 80's from monogram and today I still have it,but I want to get this one, awesome, Merry Christmas to all modelers, safe New Year 🕛🎊
I built the original one and man was it fun to build. Mine was molded in orange. Sold it on eBay. So glad it’s out again.
It is a fun build!
Great video Tim. I bought this and the 57 back in late 80's, had both of them on my coffee table in the living room of my first house. Until I started having kids, lol. Fifty bucks, WOW!!
I've had, and built all the versions. Good to see it again. A big plus - body is molded in white plastic!

I believe the Revell/Monogram 1/12 scale 57 Chevy had Cragers and rear slicks.
@johnclemans7802 I think so too
Looks like a great kit. thanks for sharing it with us.
That is a tough looking BIG kit! Thank you for sharing this with us Tim. Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!
I agree Larry it is. Merry Christmas to you too!! 🎅🎄
This was one of Monograms best big scale kits back in the day. I only wish Revell would give them credit on the box.
I agree James
nice kit. i wish it had the big block and crager ss wheels, i would do a bill grumpy jenkins car.love your vids. merry christmas
Can be done, cobble together from other 1/12 kits - 427 from '67 Vette, Cragars from 57 Chevy, decals from Slixx...
That's a cool kit, it's easier to see the parts.🎅🎄👍👍
Yeah, it's a big kit for sure!
Easier for old eyes and hands to see and handle parrs.😊

I have the Chip Goose version of that model stilling my stash I also have the 1/12 scale model of the 57 Chevy Bel-Air.
I just ordered this kit. I am still looking for the 32 ford 1/16 kit
I believe the 32 Ford kit is an 1/8 or 1/5 scale. I have 2 in my stash.

You can enter it in derby citys February show
That's a lot of model to get done by then John. Not sure if I'm going to start on it this Winter as I've got a few other builds I'm wanting to get to.
I wish they would do more 1/12 scale hot rods specifically C3 Corvette 68-69 Chevelle 68-69 Novas
