- Why are some of the Vex covered in Plants and Vines? These Vex are from the Black Garden from a subtype called The Sol Divisive. They come from the Black Garden, where life grows in abundance and even grows on the frames of the vex themselves. However, The Sol Divisive worship the Witness and attempted to bind themselves to it to survive.

Makes me miss D1 when each faction had different houses/legions/broods that were shown by the colors and markings they had. Made the world feel a lot bigger.
Yeah. It's a bit strange that vex are the only faction in d2 that have all kinds of different forms. Each other faction only have 1 or 2 versions. While vex have 4.
They still do
@@theremnants6807 There are multiple different variants of every major faction tho
The Hive have the Scarlett brood on the moon, the lucent Hive of Savathun and the brood of Xivu Arath, plus the few survivors of Oryx's brood that are scattered throughout the system
The Cabal have the remains of the Red Legion, Caitls Loyalists and the Shadow Legion of Calus
The Vex have the Sol Divisive and the different variations of the main Vex collective
The Eliksni are the only ones that do not have many different sub-factions anymore, because most of the houses were destroyed by us, leaving the survives to found the house of Dusk, ofcours we still have the house of Light, and the house of Salvation under Eramis, aswell as the undead Scorn
@@_Chaosnight_ I know but we mean like look wise. Some enemies are considered as a certain enemy faction but they don't always have a unique look. Vex are the only ones that actually always change based on their origin. I mean as a whole too not just bosses or named enemies.
@@theremnants6807 no
Im telling you we NEED a vex mythoclast ornament in that style, call it timelost mythoclast or something I WANT A PRECIRSER VEX MYTHOCLAST
There should be faction ornaments for each enemy sub division just like the Gilded skin for Skyburner's Oath.
Divinity would’ve made more sense, as it’s from the Black Garden in the first place. Having it covered in moss, trees, and other tiny foliage would be awesome, but it just got a Season of the Splicer ornament (which looks awesome btw), so prob not anytime soon.
@@twelved4983 ok fair enough that would look awesome, I'm just down bad coping HARD for a GOOD vex mythoclast ornament, the silver ones really meh and the guardian games one is also pretty blegh
@Breadwalker765 the different Vex factions for mythoclast, ex dris gets all the different hive, and queenbreaker gets all the fallen house designs.
@@BlitzStorm YEAH! I want that!
Regular Vex: Yeah...we don't invite them to the BBQ anymore.
Sol Divisive in the corner: **silently praying to the Witness like a cult**
All other Vex Collectives: "yeah we just ignore their existence"
Regular Vex: *Looks at their fellow Vex who joined the Sol Divisive* "In my calculations they are not part of our friend group."
You know the witness is built different when the VEX FEEL FEAR
They fear the Darkness. They give zero fs about the witness nor the Traveller but the Darkness itself is an enigma to them.
@IveBeenWithBruma they don't fear darkness.
@@kelvinbradshaw8338 They most certainly do it's the only thing they do not wish to simulate because of what happened to Atheon and company. Corruption of the Vex network is the one thing they will never allow.
@@IveBeenWithBruma don't they worship darkness as the only way forward?
@@cringelord778 Only that specific group. The rest of the Vex are darwinistic by nature. Their goal is a Vex only filled timeline like in CoO.
I feel like Byf is an actual guardian who wanders the system and verbally explains lore and enemies despite being under fire.
Fun fact, that is often my process for recording shorts. However, my actual greatest enemy is the random guardians who come up and nonstop tea-bag in front of my cinematic shots… 😭
@@MynameisByf Byf be like "Suffering from success"

Byf is such a wordsmith, never expected to hear the word "fecund" on a destiny content creator's channel but here we are
It’s why I love his narration. He really brings the universe of Destiny to life! I’m looking forward to his new “story of Destiny” video covering the whole light vs dark saga.
I never even hear that word before. But, I didn't grew up speaking English.
@@old_dan it's ok, not many native speakers use it either
it's kinda cool that (at least it's what I feel), the black garden vex from d1 have a bit less moss and branches on them than the ones found in stuff like garden of salvation, sort of to indicate that some time has passed
Or it might be just because like every other thing from d1 to d2 was graphically up graded
The vault of glass armor for the hunter looks cool ngl
Do it right & you can make some drip to become part of the Sol Divisive.
It is so cool that the vex are a white squares on their stomacs, and the rest is just exo skeleton
I'll never be caught dead playing Destiny 2 again BUT your silky smooth voice explaining is lore is something I could tune in for hours my dude. Thanks for the cool lore
If the vex Is like an Immune system, the Sol Divisive Is kind of like a cancer.
I’d be really Interested to see more Vex x Sol Interactions
You should do a lore video on champions and why they look so crazy
Champions aren't cannon in lore. I think
@@BlurRequiem only thing you can find about them is the they're infused with darkness that's it
100% they're only gameplay elements
i mean we can stun them with kinetic projectiles but not with our super
Back in my day the vex covered in plants was all i shot at
Back when garden just dropped.
God I miss this game.
Why dont any vex do the same for the traveller?
If they wanted to, they would so only for their benefit and our expense.
Because they already have contingencies against the Traveller. In CoO the Vex from the infinite forest defeated the Traveller.
The thing is, any normal vex wouldn’t worship anything anyway since they literally live in the past and the future. But the sol divisive are like 1 of the 4 weird vex collectives. But the sol divisive are definitely vastly different from all the other vex collectives.
Byf is the vaati of destiny
What's funny is that they got mossier and maybe a bit damaged in d2 meaning they were maybe in d1 as enemies
The byf shorts be going harddd
And they are my favourite looking Vex out of them all to bad that they are not very common and they are only found on the moon and the Garden of salvation raid. If only we could encounter them more.
they're in riven's lair and spire of the watcher too
I loved Black Garden...i know people didn't like the events around it, but i enjoyed it. I adore Vex and that season was something special to me. I rock the armor on my titan and don't plan to change it. I really do miss seeing those guys around.
Honestly I think if we are going to get more story about the vex we need some sort of personality attached to them. I love the idea of the vex somehow going full AI and creating their own vex guardian from the studies of those who got lost within the vault of glass or black garden. I feel it would really attach a face to a faceless amalgam of enemies. (Even tho that’s kinda the point of them with the tiny microbes and all)
Yeah, I’ve said this before: the Vex have always been the most alien to us because they’re just so darn different from the other factions by so many orders of magnitude. Hell, they don’t even SPEAK in the same way we do. Without that, it’s very tough to attach a main threat/personality to the Vex without causing them to become less… Vex.
@@twelved4983nah just slap some cool title on a big vex unit and that's it. Look at Atheon or Protheon, they're """""just""""" minotaurs. Give it some lore about their function or how their vex shenanigans are a problem for the city... I think adding any personality like OP said would ruin it
I really want to know more about that big harpy "eating" a vex unit in the video.
Love that *turrrrn* at the end, very nice!
Interesting. I knew of the Sol Divisive, but I didn't know they were avoided by other Vex.
They were driven mad by their encounter with the Darkness which defeats the purpose of the Vex end game objective.
I always called them weed bots
Is it possible for vex to bind themselves to the traveller?
You don't bind yourself to the traveller, it chooses you. Ghaul showed us what happens if you steal it's power.
Also, the Vex are collective entities; each unit contains many thousand radiolaria... a single bacterium with a ghost would be a hilarious sight.

Am I the only one who thought, before the reveal of The Witness, that "The Final Shape" would be about the Vex and their pattern?
Not having played for a few years, I thought so too. I just can't think of where the story will go after The Final Shape, Bungie says it's the end of "Light vs Dark" saga, like okay so what next?
Basically every single enemy race and entity has a different vision on what The Final Shape really is. Even the Witness' own disciples have differing ideas
@@aspectnato8077as i new player to destiny i wish they would bring the vaulted content back so i could understand the story.
@@lightningrose3654 As a veteran player I agree
@@lightningrose3654I started a bit before Forsaken, walked away for a while, the guy who killed Cayde is now a guardian? Amanda is dead I guess. Mars no longer exists and we are communing with an Eldritch spider god for anti witness capabilities? I'm lost and I don't think any amount of lore will catch me up. Don't feel bad, you aren't the only one lol.
I have to ask, is the Black Garden actually that bad, ignoring the Black Heart and the Sol Divisive and focusing on the Garden itself, is it a bad place?
Of course you would think that
It's hard to say, and it depends entirely on how you define bad.
Is Venus (in real life) a bad place because it's practically impossible for any life to survive on it? Or is it just doing its thing across the void and has little impact on our lives here on Earth?
Not exactly a vacation destination, but not exactly gearing up to invade and infect the rest of the universe either (as far as we can tell so far), you know?
Its a place outside of our universe; i dont think it is inherently bad or good.
No its not the traveller and the darkness both originated from it
It prevented the traveler from healing and caused dark guardians to spawn in the dark future iirc
Great, They've got a Vex Ent!
I will admit (long time fan of ur vids) you are killing it with these shorts. Much easier to consume Destiny beginnings. Wow great job btw never cared about they non existent Destiny story line until your shorts.
The black garden grows infinitely actually, meaning these certain vex are infinite and will always grow as its basically the darkness itself, it was def stronger with the black heart but now its still dormant in its own plane of existence
Cameraman never dies
There is something symbolic about robots who attach themselves to something spiritual when seeing plants attach themselves to something inorganic just to be able to grow. Kind of shows the vex thelmeslves are so overgrown that to us we just call them a different faction but to them they are just trying to survive and different conditions inspired different methods.
That vex is missing shots like a stormtrooper.
Again another history session that any veteran player knows
THE CAMPAIGN DELIVERY IS SO BAD BU THE LORE IS SO GOOD
Man I wish we had more in-game faction fights.
What I'd like to see with enemies who joined forces with the Witness is them sporting black, sleek armor; just to make them look different from the rest, I'm not liking the "these are the witness's forces" and all you see is the same damn enemies who don't look different at all lol
Normal vex: yeah they no longer chill like that anymore.
I love their look my favorite vex
Hopefully we get the sol divisive vs the regular vex
I love how the Darkness is a man but the Light is a metal ball.
The darkness is chasing a soccer ball across the universe. 😂
would've been cool if this was how we formed an alliance with the vex, despite instances before where they've used us help them, like the time they let us into the vog for the paradox mission in d1. the vex now see and have been seeing how the witness affects their own kind, wonder if the vex collective would ever ally with us or just stay as themselves, seems like we'll never know.
Fascinating that vex feel fear.
Here's a terrifying idea. Quria revived by the Sol Divisive.
They were left there from that one season
If the Light keeps winning, and thus surviving, why isn't there a vex subtype allied with the Traveler or Guardians yet?
Unlikely since they function similarly to the Daleks from Dr. Who where they want to reign supreme as the only life form.
I distinctly remember finding one and helping it, but I have no idea what happened with it.
Vex gotta be one of the most underused enemies in destiny. While yes we see them a lot, they never are the main villan just usually being used by a larger force. I hope after the final shape we get more vex story, cause out of all the factions Vex have to be the most terrifying cause we dont know what they truly want besides to be the only remaining entity left
That reminds me. Why are the Sol Divisive covered in plants?? I've been wondering.
WHAT DID I HEAR? DIVINITY?
This makes me wonder how the vex on mercury are doing. Since the planet has been taken by the witness what if they have been fighting back? Or maybe all taken?
Makes me wonder why there isn’t a whole faction of Vex that have decided that binding themselves to the Traveller is the key to long term success 🤔
Soooo…. Who wants to bet there’s gonna be a VEX group that allies with the Guardians in a future DLC?
I always hoped that with the alliance between us and the cabal/fallen and kinda the lucent brood, that there would eventually be a vex mind that ripped itself away from the collective out of fear or hatred for the witness and allied woth us. Imagine completing a mission only to have an emotionless hydra just comment on how you could have killed the strike boss 47 seconds sonner if you didn't emote before killing every champion.
The vex feel fear?
Is there any lore regarding the insects used for Khepri's sting/horn?
Commenting for the algorithm
Tbh i just thought the vex was a fuggin hive mind
I wonder what will happen with the Sol Divisive once the witness is gone.
Will they begin to worship the traveler? Will they just simply join other Vex groups? Or will they finally manage to understand paracausality and build a mind that simulates the Witness to guide them?
sometimes destiny lore is just funny cuz it's like
yeah the vex want to survive till the end of the universe
but they still somehow think shooting at an immortal godslayer for no good reason is a good idea
Wasn't there a season in the past that was based on them?
Cha Cha Cha Chia!
Am I the only one who finds it unusual that there is no Vex subtype that has joined the guardians? Maybe we'll see that in the Final Shape
Tmw the Borg discovered *GOD* And went full on Deus Vult!
Were the vex in D1 part of the Sol divisive or were they just working together until the Atheons destruction
Lets be honest, do you really want to go somewhere that even the VEX won't go?
Why are people just noticing this.
why dont normal vex help us then?
Man i really love destiny 2 i really do 😢 but i lost my ps+ so I can’t play it online anymore so i cant even do my missions cuz they all need ps+
Man, I always wanted Vex mixed with Pyramid tech, wondered what it would look like…didn’t know the Witness was going all natural tho, good on her for being progressive
what gun is that in the beggining of the video
Wait so is there a sol divisive mind then? And how did one mind come to the conclusion the witness is the way to survive but other vex haven’t don’t they all share a consciousness
It's a collective. Each vex is its own individual but they all follow the order of the collective. If you listen to specific dialog from Failsafe missions she will mention "they" are extremely interested with our Ghost.
Yeah. The Consecrated Mind, the Sanctified Mind, the Undying Mind and many more are all Sol Divisive minds.
The Sacrificial Mind at the end of Garden of Salvation is one of their Vex Minds
Oh man does the Witness look like a stupid Disney villain holy shit 😂
Coop
I think I need a better screen 😅😢😂😂😂 I don't spot that differences... For me all are the same 😭
If other Vex can avoid them it would imply that there's more than one Vex hive mind. Is that true?
Like any other hive mind there are numerous sub minds that exert and extend the greater minds authority.
Yes, like how the Sol Divisive Vex calculated that serving the witness is the most effective plan, other vex groups have come to their own conclusions.
The goal of the Precursor Vex, also known as the Sol Primeval, was to win using the Infinite Forest they constructed.
It is a collective not a hive mind mentality. They can cut off specific divisions of the collective to ensure Vex survival. There is usually a Vex mind that leads specific divisions in this case it was Atheon.
@@IveBeenWithBruma Thanks
