Not likely. Players who have played League for 10 years try Dota for like 1 week and decide it's trash and go back. I've played league since it was in beta, I also played Dota2 since it was in beta, and the 2 are extremely similar but Dota2 is definitely more gimicky. It's less about skill and more about which broken item combination you can get to.. Some of this exists in League too but definitely not to the extent it is in Dota. I never see 'epic plays' in Dota2 like I do in league.

Regarding epic plays, the average Joe who plays dota for a week wouldnt be able to understand 80% of them due to the fact that the knowledge gap is just too big. You dont even "see" some things till u experienced the game enough to look for them. In League things are just straight forwards and the game is more focused on fighting rather than anything. The game holds your hand by not even giving u a way to stop enemy CS in lane, or to manipulate creeps/minions in such a way that denies enemy exp/gold. Its a much simpler game and thats ok, both apply to different ppl i guess

Lane control is one of the largest things in League of Legends, at pro level players will abuse these mechanics to get a 2-3 level lead on their opponent and deny them thousands of golds. I don't even play either game anymore, but League is not even close to being 'casual'. It requires just as much game knowledge, item setup knowledge and positional knowledge as a game of Dota does. Dota just convultes everything and makes broken combinations possible by giving ridiculously strong melee characters a gap closer, or ranged characters a way to run away that they shouldn't have. Whatever game balance the devs intended just immediately goes out the window. It's more FOTM shit than any game i've ever seen, there is no build diversity when things like BKB Exist and every single hero in the damn game runs it. Or we gonna pretend that everyone doesn't play Pudge Blink Dagger every single game?
I played League for almost 10 years. I mean i can't lie, it was fun and good. But i always wanted to be a Dota 2 player. I remember when Dota 2 first come up, i got a key from Facebook. I tried to tell my friends Dota is a better game, but nonetheless i played league with them. Years and years i watched TI's i watched big dota streamers, tried by myself for 3 days and went back to LoL for 10 years. Now I am settled down in life, and fucking enjoying my Dota 2 nonstop every night, and feeling so happy. Just try Dota guys. You gonna understand in just 1 week, why dota is in another level.
The most toxic community in all of the games NOT having the thiusands of players repelled IS some information about the game quality. Just like WOW which is so old I don't get how they play it, but I has newcomers even THESE days.
Everyone should enjoy whatever makes them happy. I ve played dota for over 11 years, with longer and longer breaks towards the end, cuz at some point you have just seen it all. I think a lot of people are just switching after a long time and therefore say the other game is actually "better" because they are just exhausted with what they played with for many years. To me the flashiness of lol looks really interesting but idk if I have the time and energy to learn a new moba. Dota is probably the better "teamgame" from a strategy standpoint but 90% of people just play solo and are therefore angry and toxic. I think in league you have much bigger impact as a solo player and can actually "outplay" 2 or even 3 enemies.
dota is definitely better with friends to help you. Going from league to dota can be overwhelming so it helps having someone to guide you. but once you get used to it league will feel super limited
I am pretty sure other people mentioned already, but, a few general tips(since i play both games) 1. JUST TP! As an example, when bristle back solo killed u like multiple times, every single time you could simply tp out! He didnt have enough damage or cc to counter it! 2. Certain items give you benefits without actually saying they do “this” exactly! Like force staff can literally make skywraith mage useless! Or glimmer makes jugg ult useless! Or ghost makes sven ult useless! Euls scepter could make every single one of them useless (ofc for this game! It varies a lot!) point is.. items matter ALOT! 3. Good use of certain abilities, specially if you have the “tag” of initiator (you can check from hero page and filtering) sth like faceless ult (its literally aoe stun friendly and enemy targets alike! And only he can move!) imagine getting all your team stunned for enemy to kill! Or legion commander ult, if you loose your ult enemies gain permanent damage! Or in this case, warlock, the most important ability i would say is you q! Since it shares the damage between targets! So more targets=more damage! I rather q refresher orb q and die! Than just double ult! 4. Some very weird interactions exist not like counter picking in lol, its more like items or combination of heroes or jg items and power spikes that are not just the same things as lol, like a very weird one that i am sure 80% of players dont know is, if warlock ults and exactly before the summons finish, you put your aghanim down in your backpack or on the ground, it will summon 2 golems pre-nerfed! (Btw i dont think u noticed or at least didnt say anything about it, but aghanim of warlock gives u 2 golems for the cost of their hp and atack damage, so the interaction is told you effectively doubles their power) 5. CONSUMABLES, not just tango clarity or wards, there are so many others, Dust! Just shower the ground on dust to make invisible enemies visible&slow, smoke, literally turned your whole team invisible and boosts movespeed and allows you to scout as a team or alone for warding! Cause wards wont show u! Even if they have blue wards! And if you suddenly get unsmoked(before the buff timer) it means an enemy is near you! No matter if you see eachother! So maybe someone is invisible near you? 6. Ping is with alt, but generally its better to use mic in this game, but the moment someone flames or rages, do the lol treatment and just mute 7. There is no role-lock hero, what i mean is you can be sup and finish the game as sup but be moving all over the game and take in mid or safe lane at some point of the game (doesnt mean you should! But it means that if its possible or if midlane goes to jg or gank, if safelane goes for swapping lane, dont just get killed on top by bristle! Go farm mid! Get your items! Go join the fights, pressure other lanes!) its a concept you will understand if i put it in lol terms, which will be, everyone have tp summoner spell, and everone are top laners with shen ult, just go do your thing, get the fuck back (specially when there are literal teleportation gates on the corners!! Just tp! Use the gate to go back) I guess its already a long comment, if you read it, i hope you enjoy the game and have fun :) gl

always funny seeing a new player realize how insane some of the items and heroes are in this game.... it made me happy to see you using all those active items for your 1st game feel like most people struggle with the item usage early on (also LH stands for last hits and DN stands for deny)
Rules of thumb in dota , nothing is broken if everything is broken lmao. The variable in hero picking and each item slotted can be soo many possibilities. Sure some heroes and item gets little bit of advantage on certain patch ,but everything had their own purpose. Even iron branch is very impactful on early stages
I’ve tried to get league friends into dota before, no easy task. I applaud the positive attitude going in man. It’s so easy to get frustrated with all the crazy active items and heroes you dont understand yet. You’ve got my sub, it’s a hell of a journey to learn dota but very rewarding if you can wade through the hard part. :)
Idk why this popped up into my recommendations but this was really good dude. Those force staff saves were awesome. Would love to see more! Games are notoriously longer than in League but I think comebacks are much more likely too. All it takes is a fight or a well-timed item sometimes to turn things around!
@@kyunw96 yeah idk it is relative. In general tho dota games potentially can go longer like nearly hour length. lol matches seem to mac around 40ish mins. My longest dota match i can recall was 80+ mins. Pretty rare tho.

@@krzysztofputerko1943 Nah, you still can play with Meteor, Aghanim, Blink, etc build with tons of CC. This build is very strong, but it's extremely hard to farm items on Nyx without constant killing
@@devilbob kinda, however if your goal is to win as much as possible, dagon rush build is much better. think of it as that, you can either CC somebody or straight up kill him. Killing is better than stunning. Of course CC build allows you to stun multiple enemeis and not just one, but making a quick pick off and forcing 5v4 teamfight after that is still much bettet than just having lots of CC on Nyx imo. Nyx isn't a great tank hero because of very poor str gain per lvl. Even aghanim doesn't compensate for that because you cant move so you can get melted very quickly. Personally I think that if somebody looks for tanky, heavy CC pos 4, he is gonna get better results with Magnus/Tusk etc.

This was actually enjoyable to watch, you did better than i would've expected! I was starting to get a bit frustrated when you never used your "glimmer cape", but that turned to proud once I saw you pressing all your items later. I say this because, Dota and LoL are in many ways very similar (in the grand scheme of things), both in Heroes and Gameplay. But the biggest difference is really the item designs, in LoL it's more akin to like an MMO, build up your plethora of stats and get some modifiers here and there. In Dota, almost all the "best" items have an active, and many of them fundamentally change how you can play the game. Items like "blink dagger (initiation from outside of vision range)" "black king bar(immunity to CC)" "scythe of vyse(instant cast premium CC)" "refresher orb(self explanatory)" and many more. Anyways, great video, hope to see some more! All the best.
Keep it up man, was fun to watch! Warlock loves to defend his tier 1 tower, but his level 6 ulti timing is great to use to assault enemy safelane/mid tower. You can try rotating to the opposite lane throught the portal if your carry seems fine without you (they will get more XP so thats good).
Nice video! Always fun to watch someone new to dota who has previous MOBA experience. I am now just remembering that for some reason the new default for new players is minimap on the right and shop on the left, traditionally it is the other way around.
played dota since 2014 and played league during the whole pandemic and i'd say both of them has their own unique way of gameplay, seeing this makes me happy man
I find league players trying dota tend to stay in lanes far too long. As a support in particular you should be leaving lane as soon as your carry's lane is secured. That could be as early as level 3 or even 2 in some cases (edit: i should say be ready to TP to defend them though if you are roaming). As a carry player it would be whenever you can either kick the enemy carry out of his own lane, or at least being able to flash farm waves and rotate back to jungle. Also you put way to much value in defending the tier 1 safelane tower. Generally that entire area of the map is very unsafe after 10 mins or so. One last thing is that nobody knows how to take objectives in the bracket you're presumably playing at. If you don't want games to go on for 1hr+, pick a hero that can take towers.

@@kyunw96depends on game. With how high tempo the games are in general right now securing your mid right now is pretty important. You'll see top ranked players roaming constantly.
You can't leave your pos 1 so early, even if lane is free you should steal as many gold and xp from the enemy pos 3 and 4 as you can by pulling and if your pos 1 can farm jungle or triangle you must stay on the lane as long as possible to not waste 500 gold/min from lane creeps
For being so new you did great. I think you'll be hooked when you learn nuances like push sticking yourself to lower/higher ground away from enemies (over cliff) or items that counter heroes (can buy an item for 1500 that immunes juggernaut ult, etc.). If you play support you gotta spam buy wards.
Great video bro, I've started playing Dota 1 when I was in 6th grade, then played Dota 2 after around 6-7 years after that. As long as you stick to a concept or two and choose playing as a support, I believe you're gonna be better than most players who do the cross-finger method every game
this was really cool to see. When i was looking for a new game to play, I was deciding between dota and league and chose dota.I picked it because it looked a lot cooler imo, and less childish. I loved the voice lines in dota and specifically the "rampaageee" voice line when you whipe a team. i do agree with the one hour game thing though, it can definitely be a bit much lol.
The game is super fun, but it would help a lot to have someone explain some basic ideas of what is happening and what you want to do. The games get shorter the higher in skill you get, as people will know more how early they can actually pressure objectives. I don't know what you played in league, but i recommend playing a core role when starting out in dota, as it is more direct and helps you understand more fundamentals earlier. Support works better after you know what your cores need to get out of the game. For example in this game, you laned well and punished your opponent's picks. But after your safelaner ditched the lane, the way you should approach the lane, especially as warlock, is by killing the creeps with your q and e spells and staying away from the enemies. You don't know much about the heroes naturally, but you will get a sense of the safety line where you can get away with depushing the tower. If more enemies show up, a common strategy the higher up you go, then it is completely ok to ditch your safelane tower and move to pressure other sides of the map (the enemy safelane, or sometimes mid) at this stage you want to see who the strongest hero on your team is and play with them. If they are super active heroes, stick with them the entire time, if they farm and fight, then it is better to fight when you have your ult, and chill while depushing lanes safely when you don't and your team farms. You did really well overall, just missing the knowledge and dota-specific experience. PS: all enemy spells have counters. For example, in this game you can cancel juggernaut's ult by going invis and it will interrupt it if there are no valid targets. You can bait low level players into wasting their spells like this.

I love watching new people play Dota, it reminds me of my days of innocence when i was playing without knowing anything. My biggest tip is to just focus on your play, people get too sidetracked on what their team is doing. I play the midrole so it's only me in my lane which I prefer, if my lane is bad I help another lane. Another tip, when I load into a game, have a basic idea of what type of damage their heroes do, If Physical - Ghost scepter is amazing ( can't take any physical damage) If magical - glimmer came, pipe (if high hp pool), or bkb if going late Glimmer force is also excellent in pretty much all games so good stuff my friend. Warlock is known for being very squishy but his ults are game winning, some supports even go refresher or aghs because of getting 2 golems.
I think you have a good start. I saw you use your item decently for a new player. Some of things that you might not realise is difference between sentry ward (blue) - this is to look for any invisible unit and observer ward (yellow) this is to give you vision. Aye, shift + control + click items in shop that you plan to get next and it’ll be in a little hot bar at the bottom of your screen so you don’t need to open the shop. And idk what default is, but I have it so scrolling down buys first available items in the hot bar, and getting used to courier hot keys is awesome as well.

There are five positions in game, carry the pos1 in safe lane, mid pos2 in mid lane, hard pos3 hard lane, support pos4 hard lane, and full support pos5 safe lane. In pos5 you should set wards on map, there are 2 of them sentry and observer, observer give you vision where you placed it, sentry reveals enemies wards and people who are invisible. Clarity and healing salve heals your mana or hp, but they can be removed if opponent hero hits you once. There are 3 types of ability damage: physical, magical and pure. Physical damage can be avoided or decreased with armour and misses; magical can be decreased by active Black King Bar or some items; pure damage goes through everything and can be only decreased with active BKB. There are also types of abilities: active and passive, some passive abilities can be activated with shard or aghanim. Also abilities direction: directed at target, directed on area(maybe there is more, I forgor). Lotus spawns every 3 minutes,rune of wisdom spawns every 7 minutes. Rohan respawns every 8-11 minutes. Aghanims shard and Aghanims Scepter upgrades your ability or you obtain another ability, or even both. Dust of appearance reveals heroes that went invisible, smoke of deceit makes you temporarily invisible. There are also neutral token drops from neutral creeps, there is 5 grades of neutral token and each of them start to drop after particular times: 1 grade drops after 7 minutes; 2 grade after 17 min; 3 grade after 27 min; 4 grade after 37 min; 5 grade after 60 minutes. Neutral items gives you item in choice to extra slot; they give passive or active abilities with some stat increasements. For your better understandment read about heroes abilities and about debuffs
all new players including me when i started have major issues using active items. i used to just buy passives as much as i can while learning the basics of the game
There's a keyboard setting to make the key to be similar to LOL,but i use Heroes of Newerth because it's the easiest and fastest to use inventory for newbie, but it depends on what you're comfortable with actually, and main support job is to just to make sure your carry can farm safely by harassing enemies team on lane without feed too much, if your carry left the lane it's because he can't farm there anymore because of enemy heroes have power spike in mid game so you need to secure surrounding by ward or you can stick with mid lane to aggressive on enemies since mid lane hero usually have early power spike because of solo exp on early game

Hi! Maybe a bit late, just wanted to give some advices. In dota carry (safe lane player, Phantom assasin in your team and juggernaut in enemy team) farms for most of the early / mid game, because they need items to kill. Skywrath mage on the other hand is a strong support who can solo kill a lot of targets (just as many other supports). You should have moved with your team more (or just made space for phantom assain to farm). Love❤
the fact that you played custom bot first before playing against real human deserve praises. like i cant stress people enough how useful those bot games are for new players.
Warlock is one of my favorite characters and you played him well (for someone who isn't used to using items). In this match, you could win even without the towers at the base, but it doesn't matter if you had fun
you can click on the top avatars, to read spells and their item progression also should remember to use your glimer cape and stick and juke the bristleback keep your higher tier neutral item in the slot, and once your dead you can swap in the philosopher's stone as it will give you gold while your dead probably the only item that works why your dead
A good game for the first time! I've played dota for more than 600+ hours myself, but I always find something new for myself, by type: new skills, new builds for a character, etc. Don't worry if you lose the first games, and it seems you've been thrown to people who already know how to play. If the games seem long to you, you can try playing turbo mode. Try to play as other characters, like bristleback, ax, Sven, they are quite simple to learn. PS: If you get lost in battles, like me, then Valve recently brought an update to Dota laboratories to the game, there you can turn on the setting where your character will always be visible in the midst of battle.
as you go further into the game, you'll really enjoy it especially if u experience all the other heroes, those 10 yrs u play in league will be like worth 6months or a year in dota, and once u feel like you want to play league again, u will be reformed, you'll tell yourself that league really is that eazy, and im saying this from a perspective, my highest rank in LoL is Grandmaster and Master in wild rift, dota really is one of a kind

U did alright. U understand the basics. You got your items. Now it's a matter of map awareness. Seeing where the enemies are on the map, are they missing from the map, should u def tower, should you abandon tower, that kinda stuff.
Damn, your laning is quite good, still a lot of to learn, but you obviously doing much better then a lot of new players coming from league that ive seen, you doing great, keep it up! Edit: Yeah, and you will have to learn to use a buch of active items, especially playing support. And I never heard somebody refereeing to "Last hits" "Denies" as "Left handed, diz nuts", thats so funny
I recommend, putting the setting on to make it so you can’t cancel channel abilities and items unless you hit the stop key (which is “S” by default) because there was many times you canceled E on accident. This is awesome seeing someone else coming from league to Dota
Also you can cast glimmer cape on yourself while channeling so they can’t see you and you just get to sit there and channel your ability. Invaluable on hero’s like crystal maiden with her ult, or witch doctor with his ult
7:50 Glimmer Cape yourself to save yourself (magic barrier + Invisibility) Skywrath Mage is a support - he supports by dealing a lot of damage that won't scale with items pretty much - his ulti is dangerous when you have low mobility and he can keep you in this small area - Warlock is hella slow, some of your teammates are too - Force Staff on yourself or on your teammate will do a great deal to help them. Sometimes Skywrath plays mid but is rare You need to press more your buttons, 13:40 you force staff Faceless and Glimmer cape him - he has an escape that heals him back all the damage from last 4 seconds, excellent for this situation, excellent to recover from burst, except Skywrath has a silence and stopped him from using the spell, so you'd have to intervene Juggernaut is weak but if it really comes to counter him supports buy Ghost Sceptre - Pavise then Solar Crest is a waste of money this late in the game for most supports. Glimmer also helps against his ult. Letting a tank soak his omnislashes is usually the way to go Faceless Void is an hypercarry, with some itemisation he can contribute to the team a bit earlier (like early mask of madness), at minute 25 specially with the slow farm of the low skilled players you were matchmade, and playing in offlane which gets less farm than pos 1, no wonders he was useless Press the mana boots more! ex 16:30 LH last hits DN Denies Bristleback mitigates a lot of damage - and sprays quills from his back when he gets attacked on his back; which deals aoe damage to anyone close. Builds spell vampirism to heal from spell damage. Not attacking his back, using break (spell effect that disables passives, some heroes have this spell, items only Silver Edge has but it's a carry/core item), antiheal (Spirit Vessel is a support item, corrosive orb, eye of skadi, shiva, for cores + some heroes abilities), magic resistance to his quills (glimmer cape really for a support, some cores would build mageslayer which helps the whole team or pipe of insight also whole team also an item for cores), damage with spells as those won't trigger his passive that sprays quills. Most important not focusing him first target as half his usefulness is getting focused. Necro is strong against Bristleback... Necro is a Tanky antitank strong in sustain combat and prolonged fights Average game is 40 minutes, this one was a cursed long game. In Dota2 you should rotate more - use the portals at the edge of the map to move between sidelanes, use TP scrolls - position 4, 5 and usually position 2 rotate more than 1 and 3
You want to place the yellow wards in high places, so they can see. The blue wards are used to deward, and see invisible units. Use your glimmer cape to go invis, and Jugg ult won't proc on you.

The most toxic community in all of the games NOT having the thiusands of players repelled IS some information about the game quality. Just like WOW which is so old I don't get how they play it, but I has newcomers even THESE days.
I played dota 2 for for 10 years. I wanted to be a LOL player and play with my friend. I tried but i failed to switch :(
Everyone should enjoy whatever makes them happy. I ve played dota for over 11 years, with longer and longer breaks towards the end, cuz at some point you have just seen it all.
I think a lot of people are just switching after a long time and therefore say the other game is actually "better" because they are just exhausted with what they played with for many years. To me the flashiness of lol looks really interesting but idk if I have the time and energy to learn a new moba.
Dota is probably the better "teamgame" from a strategy standpoint but 90% of people just play solo and are therefore angry and toxic. I think in league you have much bigger impact as a solo player and can actually "outplay" 2 or even 3 enemies.
I was a dota player. Moved to the league. After the league, Dota seems unplayable and very slow

dota is definitely better with friends to help you. Going from league to dota can be overwhelming so it helps having someone to guide you. but once you get used to it league will feel super limited
DotA is awesome but it didn't get me to abandon HotS even after Blizzard has abandoned it. :D

I am pretty sure other people mentioned already, but, a few general tips(since i play both games)
1. JUST TP! As an example, when bristle back solo killed u like multiple times, every single time you could simply tp out! He didnt have enough damage or cc to counter it!
2. Certain items give you benefits without actually saying they do “this” exactly! Like force staff can literally make skywraith mage useless! Or glimmer makes jugg ult useless! Or ghost makes sven ult useless! Euls scepter could make every single one of them useless (ofc for this game! It varies a lot!) point is.. items matter ALOT!
3. Good use of certain abilities, specially if you have the “tag” of initiator (you can check from hero page and filtering) sth like faceless ult (its literally aoe stun friendly and enemy targets alike! And only he can move!) imagine getting all your team stunned for enemy to kill! Or legion commander ult, if you loose your ult enemies gain permanent damage! Or in this case, warlock, the most important ability i would say is you q! Since it shares the damage between targets! So more targets=more damage! I rather q refresher orb q and die! Than just double ult!
4. Some very weird interactions exist not like counter picking in lol, its more like items or combination of heroes or jg items and power spikes that are not just the same things as lol, like a very weird one that i am sure 80% of players dont know is, if warlock ults and exactly before the summons finish, you put your aghanim down in your backpack or on the ground, it will summon 2 golems pre-nerfed! (Btw i dont think u noticed or at least didnt say anything about it, but aghanim of warlock gives u 2 golems for the cost of their hp and atack damage, so the interaction is told you effectively doubles their power)
5. CONSUMABLES, not just tango clarity or wards, there are so many others, Dust! Just shower the ground on dust to make invisible enemies visible&slow, smoke, literally turned your whole team invisible and boosts movespeed and allows you to scout as a team or alone for warding! Cause wards wont show u! Even if they have blue wards! And if you suddenly get unsmoked(before the buff timer) it means an enemy is near you! No matter if you see eachother! So maybe someone is invisible near you?
6. Ping is with alt, but generally its better to use mic in this game, but the moment someone flames or rages, do the lol treatment and just mute
7. There is no role-lock hero, what i mean is you can be sup and finish the game as sup but be moving all over the game and take in mid or safe lane at some point of the game (doesnt mean you should! But it means that if its possible or if midlane goes to jg or gank, if safelane goes for swapping lane, dont just get killed on top by bristle! Go farm mid! Get your items! Go join the fights, pressure other lanes!) its a concept you will understand if i put it in lol terms, which will be, everyone have tp summoner spell, and everone are top laners with shen ult, just go do your thing, get the fuck back (specially when there are literal teleportation gates on the corners!! Just tp! Use the gate to go back)

always funny seeing a new player realize how insane some of the items and heroes are in this game.... it made me happy to see you using all those active items for your 1st game feel like most people struggle with the item usage early on (also LH stands for last hits and DN stands for deny)

Sure some heroes and item gets little bit of advantage on certain patch ,but everything had their own purpose. Even iron branch is very impactful on early stages
I’ve tried to get league friends into dota before, no easy task. I applaud the positive attitude going in man. It’s so easy to get frustrated with all the crazy active items and heroes you dont understand yet. You’ve got my sub, it’s a hell of a journey to learn dota but very rewarding if you can wade through the hard part. :)
Idk why this popped up into my recommendations but this was really good dude. Those force staff saves were awesome. Would love to see more! Games are notoriously longer than in League but I think comebacks are much more likely too. All it takes is a fight or a well-timed item sometimes to turn things around!
Its around 30-45 min like how fast is a lol game? Even mobile legend is around 15-20 min
@@kyunw96 yeah idk it is relative. In general tho dota games potentially can go longer like nearly hour length. lol matches seem to mac around 40ish mins. My longest dota match i can recall was 80+ mins. Pretty rare tho.

@@krzysztofputerko1943 Nah, you still can play with Meteor, Aghanim, Blink, etc build with tons of CC. This build is very strong, but it's extremely hard to farm items on Nyx without constant killing
@@devilbob kinda, however if your goal is to win as much as possible, dagon rush build is much better. think of it as that, you can either CC somebody or straight up kill him. Killing is better than stunning. Of course CC build allows you to stun multiple enemeis and not just one, but making a quick pick off and forcing 5v4 teamfight after that is still much bettet than just having lots of CC on Nyx imo.
Nyx isn't a great tank hero because of very poor str gain per lvl. Even aghanim doesn't compensate for that because you cant move so you can get melted very quickly.
Personally I think that if somebody looks for tanky, heavy CC pos 4, he is gonna get better results with Magnus/Tusk etc.

This was actually enjoyable to watch, you did better than i would've expected! I was starting to get a bit frustrated when you never used your "glimmer cape", but that turned to proud once I saw you pressing all your items later.
I say this because, Dota and LoL are in many ways very similar (in the grand scheme of things), both in Heroes and Gameplay. But the biggest difference is really the item designs, in LoL it's more akin to like an MMO, build up your plethora of stats and get some modifiers here and there. In Dota, almost all the "best" items have an active, and many of them fundamentally change how you can play the game. Items like "blink dagger (initiation from outside of vision range)" "black king bar(immunity to CC)" "scythe of vyse(instant cast premium CC)" "refresher orb(self explanatory)" and many more.

Keep it up man, was fun to watch! Warlock loves to defend his tier 1 tower, but his level 6 ulti timing is great to use to assault enemy safelane/mid tower. You can try rotating to the opposite lane throught the portal if your carry seems fine without you (they will get more XP so thats good).

I am now just remembering that for some reason the new default for new players is minimap on the right and shop on the left, traditionally it is the other way around.
it's probably because Lol has minimap on the right side by default so maybe they made that change to make it easier for people switching games.

played dota since 2014 and played league during the whole pandemic and i'd say both of them has their own unique way of gameplay, seeing this makes me happy man
I find league players trying dota tend to stay in lanes far too long. As a support in particular you should be leaving lane as soon as your carry's lane is secured. That could be as early as level 3 or even 2 in some cases (edit: i should say be ready to TP to defend them though if you are roaming). As a carry player it would be whenever you can either kick the enemy carry out of his own lane, or at least being able to flash farm waves and rotate back to jungle. Also you put way to much value in defending the tier 1 safelane tower. Generally that entire area of the map is very unsafe after 10 mins or so. One last thing is that nobody knows how to take objectives in the bracket you're presumably playing at. If you don't want games to go on for 1hr+, pick a hero that can take towers.

You can't leave your pos 1 so early, even if lane is free you should steal as many gold and xp from the enemy pos 3 and 4 as you can by pulling and if your pos 1 can farm jungle or triangle you must stay on the lane as long as possible to not waste 500 gold/min from lane creeps

For being so new you did great. I think you'll be hooked when you learn nuances like push sticking yourself to lower/higher ground away from enemies (over cliff) or items that counter heroes (can buy an item for 1500 that immunes juggernaut ult, etc.). If you play support you gotta spam buy wards.

Great video bro, I've started playing Dota 1 when I was in 6th grade, then played Dota 2 after around 6-7 years after that. As long as you stick to a concept or two and choose playing as a support, I believe you're gonna be better than most players who do the cross-finger method every game
this was really cool to see. When i was looking for a new game to play, I was deciding between dota and league and chose dota.I picked it because it looked a lot cooler imo, and less childish. I loved the voice lines in dota and specifically the "rampaageee"
voice line when you whipe a team. i do agree with the one hour game thing though, it can definitely be a bit much lol.
The game is super fun, but it would help a lot to have someone explain some basic ideas of what is happening and what you want to do.
The games get shorter the higher in skill you get, as people will know more how early they can actually pressure objectives.
I don't know what you played in league, but i recommend playing a core role when starting out in dota, as it is more direct and helps you understand more fundamentals earlier. Support works better after you know what your cores need to get out of the game.
For example in this game, you laned well and punished your opponent's picks. But after your safelaner ditched the lane, the way you should approach the lane, especially as warlock, is by killing the creeps with your q and e spells and staying away from the enemies. You don't know much about the heroes naturally, but you will get a sense of the safety line where you can get away with depushing the tower. If more enemies show up, a common strategy the higher up you go, then it is completely ok to ditch your safelane tower and move to pressure other sides of the map (the enemy safelane, or sometimes mid) at this stage you want to see who the strongest hero on your team is and play with them. If they are super active heroes, stick with them the entire time, if they farm and fight, then it is better to fight when you have your ult, and chill while depushing lanes safely when you don't and your team farms.
You did really well overall, just missing the knowledge and dota-specific experience.
PS: all enemy spells have counters. For example, in this game you can cancel juggernaut's ult by going invis and it will interrupt it if there are no valid targets. You can bait low level players into wasting their spells like this.

I love watching new people play Dota, it reminds me of my days of innocence when i was playing without knowing anything.
My biggest tip is to just focus on your play, people get too sidetracked on what their team is doing. I play the midrole so it's only me in my lane which I prefer, if my lane is bad I help another lane.
Another tip, when I load into a game, have a basic idea of what type of damage their heroes do,
If Physical - Ghost scepter is amazing ( can't take any physical damage)
If magical - glimmer came, pipe (if high hp pool), or bkb if going late
Glimmer force is also excellent in pretty much all games so good stuff my friend. Warlock is known for being very squishy but his ults are game winning, some supports even go refresher or aghs because of getting 2 golems.
I think you have a good start. I saw you use your item decently for a new player. Some of things that you might not realise is difference between sentry ward (blue) - this is to look for any invisible unit and observer ward (yellow) this is to give you vision. Hope to see the second part of your dota journey

Aye, shift + control + click items in shop that you plan to get next and it’ll be in a little hot bar at the bottom of your screen so you don’t need to open the shop. And idk what default is, but I have it so scrolling down buys first available items in the hot bar, and getting used to courier hot keys is awesome as well.
Fun fact: The person who voice acts Warlock (and Necrophos, who is also on your team) also voice acts Rhaast (Red Kayn)!

There are five positions in game, carry the pos1 in safe lane, mid pos2 in mid lane, hard pos3 hard lane, support pos4 hard lane, and full support pos5 safe lane. In pos5 you should set wards on map, there are 2 of them sentry and observer, observer give you vision where you placed it, sentry reveals enemies wards and people who are invisible. Clarity and healing salve heals your mana or hp, but they can be removed if opponent hero hits you once. There are 3 types of ability damage: physical, magical and pure. Physical damage can be avoided or decreased with armour and misses; magical can be decreased by active Black King Bar or some items; pure damage goes through everything and can be only decreased with active BKB. There are also types of abilities: active and passive, some passive abilities can be activated with shard or aghanim. Also abilities direction: directed at target, directed on area(maybe there is more, I forgor). Lotus spawns every 3 minutes,rune of wisdom spawns every 7 minutes. Rohan respawns every 8-11 minutes. Aghanims shard and Aghanims Scepter upgrades your ability or you obtain another ability, or even both. Dust of appearance reveals heroes that went invisible, smoke of deceit makes you temporarily invisible. There are also neutral token drops from neutral creeps, there is 5 grades of neutral token and each of them start to drop after particular times: 1 grade drops after 7 minutes; 2 grade after 17 min; 3 grade after 27 min; 4 grade after 37 min; 5 grade after 60 minutes. Neutral items gives you item in choice to extra slot; they give passive or active abilities with some stat increasements. For your better understandment read about heroes abilities and about debuffs

There's a keyboard setting to make the key to be similar to LOL,but i use Heroes of Newerth because it's the easiest and fastest to use inventory for newbie, but it depends on what you're comfortable with actually, and main support job is to just to make sure your carry can farm safely by harassing enemies team on lane without feed too much, if your carry left the lane it's because he can't farm there anymore because of enemy heroes have power spike in mid game so you need to secure surrounding by ward or you can stick with mid lane to aggressive on enemies since mid lane hero usually have early power spike because of solo exp on early game

For warlock I'd say you should look out for teamfights more, since your ult is AOE and takes a long time in CD.
Also the synergy of items is: You Ult 1st, you slow (E) 2nd and then you shadow yourself 3rd with your cape (your C hotkey there), you can do it during channeling habilities like Portal and your E. Also it creates a magical barrier that absorbs 300 damage during its active phase.

Hi! Maybe a bit late, just wanted to give some advices. In dota carry (safe lane player, Phantom assasin in your team and juggernaut in enemy team) farms for most of the early / mid game, because they need items to kill. Skywrath mage on the other hand is a strong support who can solo kill a lot of targets (just as many other supports). You should have moved with your team more (or just made space for phantom assain to farm). Love❤

A good game for the first time! I've played dota for more than 600+ hours myself, but I always find something new for myself, by type: new skills, new builds for a character, etc. Don't worry if you lose the first games, and it seems you've been thrown to people who already know how to play. If the games seem long to you, you can try playing turbo mode. Try to play as other characters, like bristleback, ax, Sven, they are quite simple to learn. PS: If you get lost in battles, like me, then Valve recently brought an update to Dota laboratories to the game, there you can turn on the setting where your character will always be visible in the midst of battle.
Getting early lvl 6 on warlock is kinda nice.

U did alright. U understand the basics. You got your items. Now it's a matter of map awareness. Seeing where the enemies are on the map, are they missing from the map, should u def tower, should you abandon tower, that kinda stuff.

I recommend, putting the setting on to make it so you can’t cancel channel abilities and items unless you hit the stop key (which is “S” by default) because there was many times you canceled E on accident. This is awesome seeing someone else coming from league to Dota
Also you can cast glimmer cape on yourself while channeling so they can’t see you and you just get to sit there and channel your ability. Invaluable on hero’s like crystal maiden with her ult, or witch doctor with his ult

7:50 Glimmer Cape yourself to save yourself (magic barrier + Invisibility)
Skywrath Mage is a support - he supports by dealing a lot of damage that won't scale with items pretty much - his ulti is dangerous when you have low mobility and he can keep you in this small area - Warlock is hella slow, some of your teammates are too - Force Staff on yourself or on your teammate will do a great deal to help them. Sometimes Skywrath plays mid but is rare
You need to press more your buttons, 13:40 you force staff Faceless and Glimmer cape him - he has an escape that heals him back all the damage from last 4 seconds, excellent for this situation, excellent to recover from burst, except Skywrath has a silence and stopped him from using the spell, so you'd have to intervene
Juggernaut is weak but if it really comes to counter him supports buy Ghost Sceptre - Pavise then Solar Crest is a waste of money this late in the game for most supports. Glimmer also helps against his ult. Letting a tank soak his omnislashes is usually the way to go
Faceless Void is an hypercarry, with some itemisation he can contribute to the team a bit earlier (like early mask of madness), at minute 25 specially with the slow farm of the low skilled players you were matchmade, and playing in offlane which gets less farm than pos 1, no wonders he was useless

LH last hits DN Denies
Bristleback mitigates a lot of damage - and sprays quills from his back when he gets attacked on his back; which deals aoe damage to anyone close. Builds spell vampirism to heal from spell damage. Not attacking his back, using break (spell effect that disables passives, some heroes have this spell, items only Silver Edge has but it's a carry/core item), antiheal (Spirit Vessel is a support item, corrosive orb, eye of skadi, shiva, for cores + some heroes abilities), magic resistance to his quills (glimmer cape really for a support, some cores would build mageslayer which helps the whole team or pipe of insight also whole team also an item for cores), damage with spells as those won't trigger his passive that sprays quills. Most important not focusing him first target as half his usefulness is getting focused.
Necro is strong against Bristleback... Necro is a Tanky antitank strong in sustain combat and prolonged fights
Average game is 40 minutes, this one was a cursed long game.
In Dota2 you should rotate more - use the portals at the edge of the map to move between sidelanes, use TP scrolls - position 4, 5 and usually position 2 rotate more than 1 and 3

He's better support than other legend player i played so far, I think he's doing a really good job given the experience from league.
You want to place the yellow wards in high places, so they can see. The blue wards are used to deward, and see invisible units. Use your glimmer cape to go invis, and Jugg ult won't proc on you.
