Life is too expensive. 2 income household is no longer enough income to support a family. If you and your spouse are just barely getting by on a 2-income household, why would you have children? There is no amount of state welfare benefits that is going to make an educated, hardworking family secure in having children. Either you can afford to raise a family, or you cannot. We need to look back in history and recreate an economy where a 1 income in the household was enough to raise a family and if you had a second income it was a bonus for luxuries, travel, kids college and extra retirement savings. Instead of economies where you have 2 income earners barely scraping by. They keep calling it a fertility problem, but most people are sufficiently biologically fertile and able to have children. The problem people do not have enough income to be able to afford to have children.

Capitalism works by striking a certain balance.. keeping the people floating just enough to remain a healthy workforce and keep their dreams of breaking out of modern indentured servitude alive, but not paying them enough to realistically ever do so. Many people are not ready to give up (or even decrease) their personal freedoms to have fun all the time and to enjoy their free time (their most precious good). A child is (unfortunately) seen more and more as a heavy burden, an obstacle.

Once a woman is over 30 and wants to have children give her the option to freeze her eggs for an older pregnancy down the road. 5. Understand that there are areas that due to rising water where we need to move people to areas where labor is needed. 6. Understand that many towns and countries will become empty, so there needs to be a discussion as to where humans should live down the road (places with the best infrastructure and available housing). 6. Invest in men: how do we make them more attractive mates for women (education/physical well being).

When the human population is expected to stop increasing in 123 years for the firt time ever at 10 billion, you can hardly call that a population "crash" lol.
I think we have more pressing things to worry about than producing more cheap labor

Well our governments need to make it more affordable to have kids and to live in general. My husband and i would LOVE to have kids but we can barely afford housing…and I have two degrees. We don’t want to raise a kid in poverty. Look at the cost of daycare. Some would say to have one parent stay home, but we need both incomes.

Who wants to be on welfare? The economy, lack of jobs (that’s paying well), student loans, etc. are definitely major factors in why people don’t want to have kids. Don’t get me started on how our right’s constantly getting stripped away from abort**n, child support (even if the kid isn’t yours but you thought it was and signed the birth certificate). All the top people care about are workers, they don’t care about the actual babies or kids. If they cared, they would regulate childcare, better goods that are not filled with preservatives, and regulate housing market.

In the 1900's the worlds population went from 1.5 billion people to 7.3 billion. And recently the worlds population was disclosed at 8 billion people. There is only so much Food and Water for everyone. So a population decline is not a bad thing. Business's will adapt to a decline or find themselves out of business for the new ones that will find success in that situation.

Yes cost is still 1st. Things are just expensive 1200 for an ok daycare in TN. Me and wife' parents died and there are no available people to help. But, morgage is 2300, and student losns are 300k. I just started making 100k, and things are just expensive. Youll get 1 for me, not 2 or 3.

Especially at 24. Bills are killer and we gotta cut costs somewhere not having kids is one way.

The planet Reached peak population in the mid 1980s and since then our population has doubled , we were warned by experts in the 1970s what would happen if we didn't slow down , and most of it has come true , disease such as Diabetes and Cancer in large numbers , sickness that spreads like wild fire , loss of natural healthy foods . I remember when I was a kid in northern Minnesota My mother would send my brother and I into the woods for Strawberries or blueberries or what ever kind of fruit we wanted for a treat after dinner fruits and vegetables were all over and easy to find , now I can walk in those same areas and won't find food of any kind . WE DID THAT with farming chemicals . With everything mass produced today food is either Genetically Modified or is full of contaminates . Just 250 years ago , where the Twin Cities are The Mississippi River runs through , The water was so clean and clear that The natives that lived there would drink from the river , today it looks like a chemical river . There are 2 reasons why Governments around the world want to keep the population high ( war and economics ) .

Attacking all the components and roles that are the fabric of the traditional "family" has backfired in unexpected ways I guess. But then again, the "experts" have been saying for decades that there are too many of us. Do you suppose the unintended consequences are actually what was intended?

Marriage itself has become a High Risk Item for Men in the USA that its being avoided and, having children in or outside of marriage only Increases the Risk.
Largely Women and the Legal System are to blame for the High Risk Aspect.
