Great honest review of the Defender. Other then the sun roof issues, to know it’s been such a reliable and excellent vehicle, over all of that diverse terrain and 43,000 miles, / 2.5 years, is a good thing. The huge breadth of capability with new Defender, is most definitely a very strong selling point regarding the vehicle. Pity that Doug isn’t keeping it, and running it up to 100,000 miles. "It can slow up and speed down" This is unforgivable, incomprehensible, horrific, absolutely abhorrent, a huge issue and I cannot ever find it in myself to forgive you. Things will never be the same Douglas.
From what I understand, all collision repair places regardless of brand, are backed up with hard-to-find parts. A friends kid hit a curb in with a chevy SUV during a snow storm and had minor body damage and she called about a dozen collision repair places, the quickest she could get it in for an ESTIMATE was two weeks, with additional 6-8 weeks for repairs to be completed. The worst she found was a place that would not be able to start work on the SUV for six months. Also, my dads friend got T-boned back in mid-November during a storm (everyones ok) but because parts were hard to come by (for a normal Ford/Chevy/Toyota/Honda whatever normal small SUV they had) it took them until the end of February to get their car back, they'd been driving a rental for 3-months.
Yes, even with my wife’s CRV they said we needed to plan to not have it for 3 months. Luckily a miracle happened and we got it back after a month but one of the visor pieces wasn’t replaced for another 3 months.
I waited almost 5 months for a windshield for my VW Golf. I’ve driven it with the crack for so long that it felt weird driving it with the newly replaced windshield.

It took 6 months to get two door panels and I never got the wheel well plastic inserts. So, I sold it in July of last year (10 months post accident) still missing parts, 20k miles, for 12k more than I bought it. Still feels like a win

Your videos are always entertaining. I find a few funny moments in this video, specifically you're forgetting a few more reliability issues mentioned in your first couple of videos on your Defender. Just like my brother. He had a Range Rover. Everything broke on it. Yet ask him 10 years later about it, and he acts like it was the most reliable vehicle he ever owned. Then he buys another one a few months ago, and aside from a "few" electrical gremlins, he finds it once again, reliable. You mentioned in earlier videos that the check engine light came on, more than one time. Also, the sunroof broke, not once but twice if I remember correctly. There was something else, but who's counting, it's a Land Rover product. The windshield. REALLY!. Full glass insurance covers it. However, if someone buys it already broken , getting insurance to pay is unlikely once the new owner takes it, and if paying out of pocket, well, lets just say it isn't going to be cheap. AND, all that said, I want one. I want to go right out next week and check out ordering a Defender. Why?, because Doug said it was just a blast to own and I freaken love these things. I had 2 Land Rovers and 1 Range Rover and they were just awful. The Range Rover Evoque left me stranded 3 times. I loved it. SO, just like a woman you might marry just for the good sex and nothing else, once she's gone you say, why oh why did I divorce her. Forgetting what a horror show she really was. Ya, on to another Land Rover. Why am I doing this to myself again Doug?. Why?.
Heard the same elsewhere about the windshield. It's a rock magnet. And the parts availability issue makes sense. It's comments like this that LR should pay attention to. But congrats to them on the overall reliability of a first year vehicle.
If Doug ever decides to retire from making car reviews, he should definitely consider to start (travel)vlogging! I don’t think the idea is too weird, because he also reviewed hotels (for the ones that remember :p), it would genuinely be entertaining and interesting.

I would love a Lexus GX review. Might make your defender feel more modern
Why?.
Doug is the type of guy that gets me to watch every video from start to checkered flag.
That’s actually why he started Cars and Bids he knew he’s not gonna do UA-cam forever so he needs a back up income stream
I loved his review of that insane Vegas hotel room. But let’s be real, we’re Doug superfans here, we’d watch him review a room at the Hampton Inn of Dubuque, Iowa, and we’d flood the comments with “Doug is the type of guy” gentle roasts/compliments. 😂
@@saf2127 true haha
I'm glad at least Doug is being %100 honest about the conditions of this Defender at the time of selling it.
The one video everybody saw coming 😂
Rip Doug, he was supposed to post today
Hey Doug, I noticed you change your logo from the range rover to the carrera gt 😉
Good catch!! Thanks for pointing that out!
