Loving these erg thoughts videos :-) but damn your 2K thoughts are wayyy more positive than mine. YEA BUDDY! Mine are more like this: "Ok, feeling good, split's coming way down, must be the adrenaline... Ok, don't go too low too soon, you'll blow your lungs out... Oh god, taking the split up and finding a race pace feels heavy... Shit, it's too high now, ok a few hard strokes, get the split back down... Damn that took a lot of energy and I've only just started... Oh god, what have I gotten myself into?!? Ok keep going, hold this split, just hold it... Don't look at how far you've got to go, it'll get instantly heavy just seeing that number.. Look at the rate and the split... Breathe... Don't die... Don't die... Split's coming up a bit, that's ok, just don't let it slip too far... Hold it... Ok, I've lost the capacity for coherent thought... mshfhueskngkjtkss.... 500m to go, might as well be 5000, I don't feel like I can take another stroke. Time to push for the last bit and take the split down and the rating up. Damn it body, why are you not listening!? I said take the split down, you useless lump of flesh, why is nothing happening?! Ok, then at least don't let the split drop... 100m to go, come on ten hard strokes... No not ten, ten feels like an unbearably high number at this point. One hard stroke... One more... One more... IT'S OVER! Thank fuck!"
I was thinking the same thing but didn't have the time to write it out as eloquently as you did. The last 100 m I'm like, don't look just keep the rate going. Usually I don't even remember the last part. And then I look at the memory to see my last 200 m I've barely made it 2s plus of my goal time.
What really helps for me during any erg piece is to count my strokes till a specific meter count. For example, i have 200m to go till a specific mark, i’ll count my strokes (WHEN YOU’RE AT 10, START OVER, DONT COUNT PAST TEN). Another one is to see how many meters i can row in one stroke
Man I wish the inside of my head was that excited during a 2k. It generally just gives me negative thoughts. I need to change this. Got a 1250m test piece coming up (the up side of Vet men’s rowing is we test over 1250 and not 2k, yeahhhhh buddy) and will try to force your approach into my noggin for that.
I do it that way. If I don't start strong, I have a hard time going through the pain at the later stages. So I try to max it out in the beginning, keep it somewhat steady, and then up the tempo in the end, where ever that leads me.
It may be non productive to attempt your own personal record too often. Yes,,,when you are in your building years(16-35yeaes olld) you need to to train towards that. It is the journey. and that occasional P.R. There is only so much cosmic vitimin "Q" in your race tank. Use in on Henley Sunday, not dreary February Tuesday.
40 yesrs ago I trained a young woman cyclist on the track for the 3000M pursuit. She was extremely smooth, and her split times were so consistent and we always planned for negative split. Because we could put cones out inside the track, we would increase the distance between them occasionally . Each space equalled 1sec. I would count out the clock. Susan got very fast and broke the National Record in training. We, told NO one. Nice to know that in 2weeks time the National Championships will allow her mental advantage. She and the then current Worlds Silver medalist both clobbered the National Record in the Finals. Was nice to pace easy through semis, heats and qualifiers.
Very realistic bro. Put in that effort and show that you're better than someone else and there isn't a reason why height should be a restricting factor
That's how I think, everyone has different thoughts going through their 2k. If I am going through the k feeling confident at 130 I know I will be having a good time and be able to wind it down
When I 2k I basically think of every possibility to fake an injury or pass out. Anything to stop LOL!
Haha me too😂

Also, good luck at HRR, wish I could be there, it's such a great couple of days. Used to bartend at the Remenham Club, that was loads of fun :-)
This is so good! It's what I would describe if I was having a bad one! 😂
Thanks! Still waiting to see what I'll be in!

yo cam, im gonna need you to be my personal hype man everytime i do a 2k. ths was too good.
I'll get my price list sorted soon

The greatest description of a 2k ever 😂😂 lmfao
Yeeaahhh buudddyyy
I almost want to hop on an erg and rip a 2k now! One of your best videos yet!!
Yeeaahhh buudddyyy

Just gotta try and enjoy it bro!
Enjoyed the 2k talk-through.... Yeah buddy ! ( lightweight baby )
Thanks! Yeeaahhh buudddyyy
I’ve literally been in that gym
That was literally exactly how I do my 2k! I know some people who sprint for the first thousand and die off. I personally like to see my splits drop!
Yeeaahhh buudddyyy. It does make it easier

Yeah buddy! Everyone has their specific strats
Loving the videos, content is top draw 👍👍
Thanks! Much appreciate it. Just trying to have some fun!
Love the insight!
What is your 2k P.B? How many max 2k efforts would you do a year?
Do you try to Even or Negative split them.
Thanks.
Thanks! We are told not to tell our 2ks. Maybe a few a year and I think from the video you can gather that I like negative splitting heavily

Cameron how realistic is it for someone around 6 foot to make it to row for team gb
Very realistic bro. Put in that effort and show that you're better than someone else and there isn't a reason why height should be a restricting factor
Cameron Buchan could I row tho. I’m 5 10 but I have the arms of someone who is 6 3
Cameron Buchan 😊
i tried this and it really works. take my mind off the negative thoughts and just count how many stroke does it take to reach the next 555 or 333m
Great to hear Ethan! Glad it helped!
Yeah Buddy! Hold that split big man!
It's what goes through my head! 😂
Yeah buddy! 1111 and 888 are my status checkpoints! Your mate on the left looked like gandalf on a bike 😂
That's awesome! I find it makes a big difference having the smaller tsrgets!
I found it really hard to drop the split by more than 2 when I spun the rate up at the end.
Everybody has their own ways of approaching a 2k. What I described is very individual!
Yeah
Epic!!! Can you stand behind me screaming at my next 2k??!? Haha!!
I think I should make a schedule for this!
Did u row when u were younger? And if so what club
look at his previous videos, he played basketball
I started rowing after high school the UK at 18 at Kent school, check out my other videos for more info!
What stroke rate do you do yours at?
High 30s probably when I'm fit
Thanks - loving the vids!
What is UT2?
Steady state workout, heart rate for me around 150-160
Who is gonna win Windmere this year. Huskies or the boys from Brookes????
Great question bro. I think Brookes will put up a good fight but Washington will take it in the end
The dawgs always pack the cut
Who is that monster at 5:22 and 8:48? Wish I could get as big as him...
We can only hope
My only thoughts in a 2k is how to ignore the pain lol
you either have a low
ceiling or are ridiculously tall :)
I think a little of both! I am 6 foot 9
No one:
Spartans in their warship be like: 7:13
Gotta call bullshit on that to positive
That's how I think, everyone has different thoughts going through their 2k. If I am going through the k feeling confident at 130 I know I will be having a good time and be able to wind it down
you look like connor mcgregor
Not the first to say so!
