hey man just a heads up Barnabe Délarze from switzerland is going to be in paris and he rows a sub 5:45 so maybe you would like to sabotage his erg before the race starts
i am 67 so what i am going to say goes way way back ....... maybe, more than likely some new things have been discovered... back in the 80s when i competed .. i was told that you should have your hardest and best workout any where from 12 to 14 days before you comp.... i settled on 13 days.... so all season long the workouts would get harder and harder and also longer... then 2 weeks before the hardest day..... 2 days were used us for speed work.. sprint workout as hard as you could on a tuesday again on thursday or friday then same workout.... then the next tuesday hard sprint workout ..... again on thursday or friday another hard sprint then the hard hard workout before the comp....then really easy back but keep the hard sprint on tuesday and thursday or friday then the week of the comp very easy except for the hard sprint day usually tuesday or wednesday then that weekend comp day..... always worked for me.....
Can you talk about how you manage doing one intensity session each day? Are all intensity sessions during a normal training week of the same effort or do you have some that are specifically shorter or "less intense" to give yourself a rest? Why doesn't doing intensity each day cause you to get fatigued after a few weeks?
Hello Cam. You have inspired me to start rowing again. I was wondering what heart rate monitor you use as I’m 6 foot 4 and have 125cm rib cage. Polar HRM straps seem to only go up to 116cm. I got a matrix 2 at home ( yeah I know I’ve always used concept 2) but this one is quiet ( magnets vs fan- quiet for neighbours getting pissed off in Aparrment block), wide foot position and easier on the lower back load at the catch. Thanks Cam
How do the Monitor results compare from your concept 2 experience and the much Quieter Matrix 2??? No one seems to ever mention the accuracy/comparison of the two.
Sad I didn’t win (tagged so many people lol, accidentally also tagged a guy who is mates with Cam and myself so that was awkward lol) but I’m going to Worlds too so if I get to meet or see you there then I’ll be super happy 😁
Just checked the entries for this year's event. No Oliver Zeidler this time after his ridiculous 5:42.6 in winning last year's event. Good luck on Saturday.
I do, sure. I am 48, 5-9, 147 lb, and just cracked 1:49 2k (7:19). I want to get under 7 mins, a tall order for my age and physique, probably. What do you think? Any advice?
Not according to the video evidence - getting it right combined with the better application of power vs technique will bring about better times verses energy expelled. Using your arms in the correct part of the stroke phase verses legs, gluten and back
@@anamariachiuzan9626 you're right, especially if I was using my arms to haul the stroke along. I definitely can work on catching the stroke better but changing the direction of the flywheel requires some give somewhere, I connect with the arms and press with the legs. On the water obviously a very different story!

Hi Cam. What drag factor setting do you pull for your various workouts? Thanks

That's awesome to hear! Hopefully you can find a HR monitor to fit at some point! Keep it up #yamsquad

Hey Cam, i was wondering if you could give me advice because when i row on erg barefoot i have blisters on heels and it hurts how c i prevent it?
Have you tried wrapping some tissue around where your heel touches the footplate? Some physio tape also works
Hi mate, what resistance do you set the concept 2 at, for both training and competition?
I'm experimenting with it a little just now. Most likely between 125 and 140
Do you think you could do a top 10 ?
I think I could! #yamsquad
Cameron Buchan top 5 ?

He isn't competing this year but there are still a few guys in the low 40s! #yamsquad

Do you take ice or cold baths to recover?
I generally don't, only when it's an emergency!
@Frank Astier also things I have done but generally not in a while!
Any particular reason for the red color paint facing the wall while rowing?
I'm not sure which paint you're meaning!
Are they any yamsquad unisuits?
Here are! Currently not in stock but working on it! #yamsquad
The sad dog at the beginning made me sad as well :(
He wasn't sad! He just woke up!
LOVE the bent arm catch 😄💪 definitely getting worse😂😂
It's funny, some say the opposite!

Anamaria Chiuzan couldn’t disagree more with you. It’s much improved and anyway he shouldn’t be rigid, stiff and wooden shouldered.
Hello ,I am a Russian rower, I would like to row in England how to get there, I do not know, but I really want to
There are loads of ways to get to Russia from the UK!
What is tapering
Usually before a big event people bring down their training load so that they are full of energy by the time of the event
That is great Cam ! 👍👏
