Element 3d existed for how many years? Why this is new in AE? Maybe cool for motion graphics on daily basis but definetly not for compositing shots like this
It's outright embarrassing for Adobe that 10 years after element 3D launched they finally bothered to implement native 3D solution. Cineware plugin is so clunky and slow it doesn't count.

No but honestly it'd likely be possible with a plane to match the ground then composited with a blending mode? If not, you could probably do something cheat-y like pre-comping the barrel with a camera angle from the rough position of the real world light source then compositing that into the scene (in true After Effects fashion).
Pretty surprised he didn't cover it if it's as simple as the first option so maybe AE 3D render engine can't handle that but worth a try!

Hello! I bought the 5 day deal and wanted to get the products that redeem at august 31st. But when i type the code into the premiere gal tool kit checkout, its saying "THE COUPON IS OUTDATED" or "COUPON EXPIRED". But above that, it says "Redeem by Aug 31st 2023". Anyone else getting this message from After Effects beta - mercury 3d is not supported by current hardware - ? I cant seem to open fbx files or see glb files in after effects

I think you can get this same result as easily in element 3D.
at the moment it's worse. In Element 3D, you can also cast a shadow (which aids the realism), and also you can actually distort the 3D object in 3D space. The distort that jordy did here, is only 2D.

Wait, so you scanned a barrel into an app and turned it into a model and then shot your video and added the model through aftereffects and added lighting when you could have taken the video with the barrel😂😂. Jk excellent Tutorial ❤.

3D in AE is pure garbage...it's complicated. Use Fusion instead.
It's faster to model the barrel than to screwing up with all that photography.
