wow i couldn't relate more. I'm no where close to emma's subscriber level, but I went through some crazy ups and downs especially over the past year as I slowly transitioned into replacing my old job. And especially not having many friends it doesn't make it any easier. I've always used youtube as a way for me to open up, try new things, and force myself to be more spontaneous and have excuses to make life more exciting. I've learned so many new skills and had so many experiences because of it. But its really easy to let how well your channel/vids perform effect your mood. I always take my time if I feel like posting a vid or not. Sometimes I just don't feel it, but other times I will get into that flow state and have so much motivation, creativity, and not even see the time go by. And other times I will love a certain video idea, have fun filming it, but then I'll wait to edit and as the time goes by I just start losing motivation, feel it ain't good enough and struggle with finishing the video. But I also came to realize over the years that everything has its ups and downs. I feel like its important to have an ultimate self-fulfilling goal. Sure things are cool to grind for, but those intrinsic goals are sooooo nice.

    My Perspective On Mental Health
It's hard when you're always lying,
Always hiding the way you feel.
Losing your sight on truthful words,
    Forgetting what is real.
It's hard when you forget to laugh
And you're scared that someone might see.
Hoping no one saw your face,
As you struggle to remember how to breathe.
It's hard to pretend you're happy,
And you're terrified someone might ask.
    It's becoming harder every day;
    It's becoming quite a task.
You feel when your body shakes,
As it searches for something to hold.
    Though the temperature feels hot,
Your heart and mind feel cold.
Your throat feels like it's closing,
And your legs feel like they're weak.
You try your hardest to grasp a breath,
But there's not even enough to speak.
    Your hands remain unsteady,
And your heart pounds like a drum,
And even though you can barely walk,
You fight the urge to run.
You scream as the world starts spinning,
And your knees drop straight to the ground.
    You realize in that moment
    You're just having another breakdown.

It’s true that people don’t understand someone else’s struggles unless they face them themselves. You never know what someone might be going through. Everyone has their own struggles in life. So, it should be our responsibility to not make things harder for anyone by spreading hate. Please stop spreading hate! It doesn’t help anyone.

I love this mental health videos. They make you feel included and a normal human just like every other human. I always had problems talking in front of a camera, or holding a speech, because I have a gut that tells me I can't trust anyone. I'm afraid of the lies that might be spreading, I feel fragile and made of glass if I'm surrounded by eyes I never saw. When I speak to people, I want to make eye contact, I want to make sure I can trust the one I'm talking to, cause you know internet or the wrong person is a good place for shading. When I'm holding a speech, when I'm speaking in front of a camera, I can't do that. I can't make eye contact with people, I can't make sure I can trust them. And I unfortunately found our about this fragile part of myself a bit late. So, when Emma said she felt analysed as a youtuber, I felt her from the bottom of my heart. I wanted to share my experiences, and I hope you understand that there's a great difference between being afraid of holding a speech and being too shy to hold a speech.

She has my husky voice, lol! Yes, the hedonic treadmill! I have experienced that! I was in a toxic relationship with my husband of 26 years, and he basically gave me everything just to shut me up. In essence, he felt if I had all the trinkets life has to offer, I shouldn't complain. But my husband was absent in all things emotional and physical because he became a drug addict. He thought if he gave me the finer things in life I would ignore his indiscretions (his mistress was cocaine) and not complain. I finally left that relationship and I do not have the Audi, and the tri-level home with swimming pool and spa, and all the niceties that come with success, and I've never been more at peace than ever.

Equating drug addiction to a booty call (mistress) is actually very misogynistic. Addiction is an illness. Infidelity is quite another matter. Your husband is ill (or was) and taking his money for TWENTY SIX YEARS while he's ill and with no mention of trying to deal with the addiction or any contributing circumstances makes you sound very exploitative of him.
Hope both of you are better off now.

In my last 2 years of high school I was extremely depressed, occasionally self harming but my classmates would always make comments about how put together I was and they were always like “you’re so happy all the time” even tho at the end of the day I would go home and cry because I was so insecure and hated myself. I only seemed to be happy because when I’m around other people I never want to be a downer even if I’m struggling internally. So everyone just assumed things about me and never asked me if I was okay or how I was doing. I now never assume anything about anyone’s mental health.

I feel like UA-cam is an extreme job, and depending on the person it can either stress you out fully and cause you anxiety or it can cause you mostly happiness and fulfillment, but unless you arent working it full time I dont think there is a lot of space to be in between.

    • @Mohammad-on5qo
      @Mohammad-on5qo 4 роки тому

@@starchannel123 It is extreme, I agree on the confidence part tho. But other than all eyes being on you, and the lack of job security, it can be extreme because you make your own schedule, you need to make your own decision of how much work to do, it's not a 9 to 5 so it can create a lot of pressure to work more and more even when you should just take a break and rest which can get extreme. But if you know how to balance it and you are successful that's where it gets to give you the tons of happiness.

That day I can sleep a lot or stay awake too late, eat unhealthy food or not eating some meals, not showering or changing my pajamas or whatever, but after that day passes and my brain has been in the gutter enough, I wake up at a reasonable time, take care of myself and my body and slowly but surely in the following days I try to get my routine right again. I don't think it's the best option but I prefer that to being funky for eight days straight lol hope you feel better soon, be strong and ask for help if you need it :)

How I see it is that the more subscribers you have, the more people you have to please.. the higher the expectations become until the bar is almost unreachable. From the viewer perspective, it almost feels like you’re building a relationship with the creator- we know so much about you; it feels like I could see you on the street and greet you like a coworker or a friend, but you have no idea who I am. So there’s a level of disappointment if the creator goes Mia or doesn’t post as much etc. it’s such a one sided situation - you nailed it when you said you can’t talk back to those individuals that comment. And that’s hard from the viewers end as well. We feel a connection and it would be nice to have our thoughts or feelings reciprocated and feel that two- way interaction but at 1,2,8-million subscribers, how could you!

People underestimate how amazing mental health youtubers are. If you go on and keep up a happy, shiny appearance people just IRL think ‘theyre fine, why do they think they have mental issues?’ but if we show up on a bad day, looking how we feel and just shootin straight about the misery people think ‘ugh theyre such a hot mess, they need help, theyre not fun, im out.’ Everyone wants proof that there’s an illness there then when they get proof they think the person is gross. I can only imagine how amplified that must be on youtube.

  • @amandajacobs57

I think what happens is that people see a celebrity or a UA-camr and they idolize them because it seems like they have the perfect life that the person wishes for, so when they learn the people they idolize aren't happy it makes them upset or angry because their life seems perfect. However, it doesn't make it okay. If there is one I've learned, no one's life is perfect, no one's family is perfect, and everyone struggles sometimes. Celebrities and UA-camrs are human, you guys have real problems and are allowed to talk about them, to be upset, or even to take time off. In most jobs you can take personal time or take time off when something terrible happens, but UA-camrs always feel like they can't take any time off because of the way the algorithm and the internet works. You both rock, and I wish nothing but happiness for both of you, and I also hope you take care of yourselves ❤

But it doesn’t feel that exciting, and i get numb to the numbers because i can’t comprehend it.
