Doctor Takes Personality Test | Are They Even Accurate?

- Residents in my Discord have been asking me what my Myers-Briggs Personality Type Indicator is, and I didn’t know! So I sat down to take a personality test inspired by the MBTI philosophy and was… surprised by my results. There are several scientific problems with these tests which should prevent them from ever being used in making a major life decision. Some companies actually use these things to hire employees and structure their business, and that’s not something I can endorse. That being said, these tests are very fun and can be entertaining to take with friends or even provide you with some introspection if done with a professional. Let me know what personality type you are down in the comments!
I LOVE reading your comments and take your suggestions seriously. If there’s a subject you want me to discuss or something you’d like for me to react to, leave a comment down below. Many of my videos have been born out of suggestions directly from you, so don’t hold back!

I think that the problem with this test. Is that to some extent you need to know yourself quite accurately. Since you're giving the data personally.
It also requires honesty, which not every person necessarily has. 😛
Yeah, same thoughts. Its like forcing 2 be the anwer of 2+2. If you feed wrong answers to the questionaire, basically youre giving yourself wrong results.
Yup. As a Fi dom I know who i am isolated from any facade or affectation. I was also brutally honest when taking the test. I didn't have to go searching for months about my type like other people...
That being said, I'm also enneagram 6 which sort of contradicts many INFP stereotypes but I still have enough introspective data of myself to understand what cognitive patterns I intuitively take when dealing with problems
*Very true,* if you don't give careful thought to every answer it's _not unlikely_ that you may get a skewed result. (٥↼∀↼)
True. I got my personality test and I was honestly shocked at the personality type I had was so accurate. Like 1 in 20 things were wrong.
And the thing is that it's a perception you have about yourself. If your mother takes this test for you, you might end up with another outcome
I'm INFP, mediator. And I think it suits me quite well.
I find it funny that you say you're uncomfortable in social events, but at the same time you joke around with people and insert yourself when you understood the dynamics.
I'm pretty much on the introvert side of things. I put myself in a corner, watch people and wonder how they can manage to talk to other and make social situations seem so easy. The only times I'm in a corner with max one person with me is if a group of people I know and feel safe with are there. And even then, I'd most likely be on the quiet side (although, maybe this weekend will be ok as friends from Sweden will be there and I'm less shy speaking English than I am using french (mother language) or german)
It's also weird to hear you say you're not organized,... You're a doctor, a content creator, you have a dog, you're boxing,... How can you do all you're doing if you're not organized?
twinning fr
There's a good possibility that he's actually ISFJ
I too am an INFP....but i think it solely depends on your abilities and your introvert percentage. Being an INFP i feel uncomfortable in social places but that doesn't mean I can't talk when I have to. I think that's the way with Mike....he can talk but somewhere he likes to be have solitude but that doesn't indicate an introvert characteristic. I am 65% introvert so maybe that's why I find talking easy but not likeable.
@@ananya_guha I think Dr. Mike is an outgoing introvert tbh. He matches the traits of ISFJ pretty well

I found it interesting that he said he had reoccurring dreams about disappointing his father but then answered disagree on the question about wondering if he’ll disappoint someone who thinks highly of him😂
I definitely feel like the people who dis personally tests the most, are the same people who aren't great at self-reflection, and don't realize that their answers aren't consistent, lmao
I think the point is more that in different situations, we act differently. That's why those type of questions asked in these tests don't even make sense. Maybe he doesn't care what people think, like for example, what his bosses have thought of him, but with his father it is different. Personalities are not quantifiable.
Keep in mind it's different stage of his life.
He may worry about his father in school, but not very much as professional.
It's actually not contradictory.
Worry about disappointing someone who finds you to be a figure they look up to isn't the same as worrying about disappointing a figure you look up to. The position of relative power is reversed. He's not concerned with disappointing others who see him as an inspiration, meaning he knows he has faults and probably shouldn't be on a pedestal, but he doesn't want to disappoint his father, either because of evolutionary drive to find approval in our care takers or because he admires his father and wants him to be proud, or both.
Right? If that doesn't scream "extroverted feeling" I don't know what does!
As a member of the MBTI community, I was scared to watch this video but I forced myself to anyway.
THANK YOU for mentioning that the test is inaccurate! I hate how MBTI websites for those who know nothing about MBTI focus on letters more than their cognitive functions.
I'm very glad to see another MBTI expert here!
How can we find our exact MBTI?
@@nawsearmp8824 type yourself. look into the cognitive functions. find what applies to you most.
The A stands for Assertive and the T for Turbulent, or something like that. It’s something about work ethic or how they go about stuff, I don’t know. Not worth wasting any time over splitting the hairs, though.
The test Dr. Mike took was adapted from the Big 5 personality test, which is scientifically accurate. The test tried to combine MBTI and Big 5 to sound both accurate and interesting but failed.
Honestly, if they were going that route, might as well make another letter scheme that sticks true to Big 5 rather than combining two different typing systems.

I love how Dr. Mike was OUTRAGED by how inaccurate the result was after calmly explaining in detail exactly how and why these tests are inaccurate 😆
Ironically, being outraged by his results, specifically when it came to his weaknesses, is the absolute most predictable behavior by ESFJs. They're the only type I know that consistently disagrees with any weaknesses that are pointed out in them to this degree.
@@tdaye6978 I mean i got the "commander" personality and while i specifically said that i love to observe, understand and help people, the description said that im ruthless and have a problem with people 😅
Some things are true in these tests but most things arent. Especially because your answers depends on your mood and your perception of yourself
@@collan580 Same here. I got commander/leader or whatever on one of those tests but I found that to be completely inaccurate. I am more of a guide than a leader. I don't have you follow me down the right path, I

But, these questions arent specific enough, because in different situation i will act differently. Im certainly not a Steve Jobs or Margaret Thatcher
He disagreed with some "strengths although they were not specifically listed as strengths, such as being good at administration and being the popular type.
I looked at the protagonist (ENFJ) description, and it seems to fit MUCH better with how he described himself.
I took this test 3 times.
First result was 2013 -INTJ
Second result around 2015 - INTJ
Third result was 2020 - INFJ
Didn't change the fact that I am majorly introverted but I do think that our personalities also change in every few years especially with new life lessons and experiences. Makes way more sense than just saying, I am aggressive because I'm an aries. 😂
Have you checked on cognitive functions?
Are you more on Te than Fe? Or the other way around?
Sometimes a type could go through a thing called loop and could appear like another type. Like this:
INTJ - Ni-Fi loop (could appear more emotional than most intjs)
INFJ - Ni-Ti loop (could appear cold and more rational than most infjs)
Have you tried sakinorva test?
-INFJ
@@katnipkatnips I can't remember the cognitive functions.
I think you can retake it after a few months because in the website, it says personality changes over time.
Your MBTI results might also be different based on your childhood. For example, I'm an INTJ, but I've occasionally tested as an INFJ because I was raised by a narcissist, so I'm just more attuned to how other people feel, because not paying attention to other people could result in abuse.
@@hollyhayes9640 yeah, I take it as a suggestion and not something that really defies ones personality 100%, because people are complex but is just a fun thing to use a guideline, especially on weaknesses IMO
Dr. Mike: *can't decide to agree or disagree*
Me, yelling at my screen: There's a midDLE OPTION
yeah it is called *neutral*
Selecting the middle option is lame tho
Selecting the middle option actually reduces the accuracy of any test so its much better to push yourself to select something on either end (not that personality tests really matter on this lol).

@@KatieGray1 Taking a job interview ahead of someone else is stepping on them. Getting the promotion ahead of them is also that. Anyone who says they have never stepped on someone else is lying and it’s a part of life. Exploiting people is very different but everyone slightly steps on people at some point. And your huge essay on how empathetic you are is just humble bragging. Maybe you aren’t so empathetic if you don’t see that. Imagine writing paragraphs in how empathetic you are. It’s like bragging about how humble you are.
@@dexodon3304 forgot to mention I agree with you that it is stepping on someone in the case you mention with the caveat that if someone with less qualifications is misrepresenting themselves or the other candidates in order to get a job. One thing about Myers-Briggs is that you would get different results if you think of your personal life or work life. For example I am VERY PRECISE at work but then I am very clumsy and messy at home. As you said, they are not that accurate.
I think the Strength finder is a more accurate test, if you are looking for another one to do (and no, I don't work for them!)
but you can just check the "neutral" option then? there's a reason why there's multiple answer choices...
You should choose your natural preference, and not what you have learned at work. I guess you are a ‘P’

What's so funny is one of my close friends is an ESFJ and we did this test and she reacted the exact way He did (almost verbatim). I was waiting for him to get to the vulnerable for criticism part because that was the part we started bussing up laughing because she vehemently denied everything too!
Dr. Mike: "I'm not overly emotional"
Also Dr. Mike: *Face Turns Red and Blood Vessles ready to pop with the results*
Hahaha. That said though, I don't believe his results are accurate. I'm not sure how many MBTI UA-camrs have reacted to this, but Frank James' typing seems to be more accurate.
@@angel_cat he didn't show all his answers. I was watching the blurred out ones above the one he was on and they didn't always match what he'd just answered (obviously. The test is longer than the few questions he answered on video). Could he have thrown some bad answers in there? To make the results come back wrong?
HAHAHAHAHA
The tests are often wrong, but the mbti theory is right it is much deeper than four letters, it is about cognitive functions and your preferences it is not black or white at all, the benefits of mbti is understaing yourself and other people not putting youself in a box or something, i think the misunderstang of mbti and creating stereotypes of every type is the big reason why most people don't believe in it.
Fast note: the cognitive functions of ESFJ:
- Fe Si Ne Ti
I like to use the types as a way to compare how different people view the world, and as a way to introspect and really evaluate my own self. Personality tests shouldn’t put you in a box, they should allow you to better understand how people are different and try to figure out how to work with those differences instead of shutting them down in yourself and others.
I really like the 16 personalities test, but I think it’s important to remember that it’s not strictly based on meyers briggs, even though they use those letters, and if it seems off to actually look into the typing and choose the one that’s closer to you (yes Dr. Mike, that IS actually how it works!).
My type tends to come out more or less the same no matter what test I take or how many times I take it, so I think it helps if you really know yourself to begin with.

I love how he says "I can get a little overwhelmed at social events sometimes if I have to take 300 selfies with people". He's such a golden retriever. If a stranger LOOKS at me I need a week to recover I'm so painfully introverted. He's so cute omg.
“People take the same test and get different answers.”

That can be so true for some of us, varying results particularly if they are greyscale on some of the aspects of the test - for example his results were quite middle of the range for all of the determining factors. For some of us it is more extreme where we score 90/10 or 80/20 or even 70/30 which determines how consistently we churn out the same result time after time.
@@antoinettenovella1630 true, if I looked at the actual percentages, they have definitely changed over time and I can see how they could steadily flip to be different, however if you didn’t lie and didn’t just make everything up, that isn’t always the case. Usually some huge change has to happen for it to be that extreme of change.
Am I the only one that found it extremely ironic that Dr. Mike went on and on about not being popular but said he was exhausted from taking 300 selfies and meeting people 😂😂
Well, now that you mention it....that is funny.
Socialising can be time consuming and expend a lot of energy. 2 things that lead to exhaustion.
Makes sense to me
Classic ESFJ
Haha yeah. He gets too much more social interaction than he needs sometimes. Can't blame the test on this one.
I love this video because, to me, it destroys the validity of the ISFJ box I’ve been shoved into…what a relief! I’m so so glad to see that this personality typing system doesn’t fly for other people too!
I love these tests even though they're inaccurate as hell, because i get the same exact outcome every single time (ISTJ-T) but the only percentage that is even mostly consistent is the E/I split (which is always 95+ introvert), the others have all been anywhere between 51-90 each time, which is fascinating! I'd love to know how much of this (outside of the obvious errors which come from the inherent reductionism) is affected by social desirability bias, because all of the aspects of mine that i don't agree with reflect who i wish i was quite accurately!
Ive done this test multiple times years apart and got the same result. I think that the big flaw is that people need a lot of self awareness to answer these
Exactly, I took the test the results were dead accurate, I even read the intros of other personality types and found that the results indeed gave me the most accurate personality type describing me
extrovert lack of self awareness
Yup. Also one issue people have is answering the questions how they used to be. Even Dr. Mike brought up “High School” (which I understood why he had but the answers and results are meant to focus on the present).
One last thing, people can answer on how they see the world not necessarily how they think and behave.
For example I’m an ENTP, however through my job I now can empathize a lot more others emotional responses. If I answer the questions to the MBTI now, it would put me as an ENFP; but I’m realistically an ENTP who has just matured and can appreciate how “feelings” can be just as important as logic.
EXACTLY
Dr Mike: I have a higher EQ than IQ
Also Dr Mike: took an accelerated program to become a doctor at 24
Still appreciate the modesty though lol
Just imagine how high that EQ is then 😆
Amelinda TOEIC Can you stop the spamming? This is like your tenth time on this video alone.
well, I mean, he is only a DO family medicine doctor. Speed isn’t intelligence. I’m not saying that he isn’t smart (he is a doctor after all) but still
Brooque613 Hahahah seriously, right?
He is very smart trust me
I agree with Dr. Mike when it comes to the 16 personality test. It isn't accurate enough because it doesn't focus on cognitive functions at all. There is a different test much more accurate and complex on sakinorva. Personally, I've been a huge fan of MBTI (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator) because of how accurately they explain behavior of each type depending on the functions and their order. I really recommend trying the deeper version - the results can still change depending on your mood or mental state but once you learn the basics about the cognitive functions you'll get the idea of what's specific about each type and you'll find out what fits you the best.
Happy Happy To See You And Meet You Anytime Love ❤️ You forever ♾ !!!
10:31 - I strongly agree with you . I am an introvert . I find it difficult to even start a communication with the people I know. But when it comes to public speaking , I can spend hours speaking on any random topic given at the spot on the stage in front of a whole big crowd and I see people enjoying it when I interact with them !
me too. And a lot of comedians are like this.
@@granthurlburt4062 Oh really ? Everyone I know keep on saying that I should be a standup comedian : ) I am happy that you are like that too. I am not alone.
Yes Spider Man you should be a comedian, photography just doesn't work for you.
I love public speaking too!!
You!
Are we the same people?
You and me have literally the same characteristics!
I myself enjoy public speaking and even tho I don't try to interact to people myself.
If someone else is trying to start a conversation with me, I start to enjoy their company.
His personality is literally just golden retriever.
Personality of golden retriever = ESFJ.
I'm pretty sure that he's an ESFP and not an ESFJ. He may have been mistyped because of everything he's been through and all the responsibilities of a doctor but he's definitely an ESFP.

These tests are funny. I actually made the test 5 times over the course of 5 months and I always get the INFP type and bizarrely enough it is a lot like me! The aries in me was very impatient with the waiting and was hoping to disprove the tests but it turned out that for me personally, it is scarily accurate!
Mine is ISTP-T. Spot on. Thanks for a nice test!
I've taken this test 5 times at different stages of my life and gotten the same result every time. My results were almost spot on.
Do you know where I can find it?
@@Rhythm65536 Just type in personality test and it should be the first thing. It's called 16personalities.
Me too!
I'm currently an ISTJ.
If you really want accurate results and knowing your actual mbti type you need to research cognitive functions and figure out which ones are your dominant auxiliary tertiary and inferior functions however that might take a lot of time to figure out so if you don't intend on researching cognitive functions I recommend the sarinkova test since it bases itself of cognitive functions and you might get more accurate results you should keep in mind that taking a test most of the time is not accurate and meanwhile I took the 16personalities test and got INTJ then I took the sarinkova test and got ISFJ but in reality I am INFJ.
"The majority of you will fall into the average"
Isn't that what makes it average?

no, not really: (1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 6) / 5 = 5 is the average, but the majority is "1" :D

No one at all:
Mike: literally cups his “pectoral”
Yeah most people into MBTI hate that test. It’s mostly about cognitive functions and stuff, and even the term ‘personality’ can be a bit misleading, as to be fair it isn’t really about personality at all.
fr
Just started watching your videos, so hello! I took the same test and got almost the same code, ESFJ-T for me, but I thought mine was super accurate, it's interesting to me to see the difference, while I was kinda spooked about how accurate I felt it was, you were freaking out about how inaccurate it was. Super cool how different people can be!
So while this may not be of much practical use in the real world, I've found MBTIs to be excellent for my character creation process in writing. While not a strict outline, it gives a nice starting point for making them feel more three dimensional.
Omg, that's an amazing idea! Thank you so much for that!!!
Woah. Fantastic idea for writers.
I personally prefer the Enneagram for writing, but I know a lot of people use the MBTI as well.
I do this too!! I have taken the test for several of my characters and it fits some of them very well. However, some are in-between, just like me. I'm both INFJ and INFP and slightly INTJ. Few people are fully caricatures of the MBTI, we have a lot more than 16 personalities in the world. But in the beginning of getting to know a character, it can be useful to read about these personalities and get ideas! I have an ENFP dating an ISFJ, that's a bit interesting, haha...
kinda makles sense. weren't these types created by a writer?
I feel like he's an ENFJ (based on the cognitive functions). His Fe is pretty obvious. He said he likes to think about the meanings of songs, what the world will look like in the future and that he likes deep conversations. That seems like Ni to me. I don't know how he got ESFJ.
Same thoughts. He got S (51) and N (49), so he's obviously mistyped. I hope he checks out ENFJ.
Honestly, though I believe the tests are mostly inaccurate and knowing the cognitive functions is the way to go....his response was so incredibly accurate to being ESFJ that I was literally able to perfectly predict his exact response to this test based solely on the fact that he got ESFJ. So I'd day the broken clock was right this one time
Definitely *NFJ after using my own autopilot Ni during many of his videos to spot consistency in cognitive function preferences. The overthinking on this test alone says a lot 😹
i was going to say ENFP
I said ENFP or ENTP based on the spontaneity factor and the way he absorbs social cues to react and comment sounds like a perceiving personality
So, I took this test a while ago, and my dad brought up those issues to me as to why he doesn't like them. But the more I researched it, (I even have Carl Jung's phycology book) the more I realized it was never about defining someone, but rather just explaining vague tendencies and preferences (Not absolutes) about how the person perceives the world and makes decisions based on perceptions. Even Carl Jung himself said that his cognitive list is only a vague grouping and shouldn't be used to define yourself or others. So, i can see your issues, but they aren't real issues if you really understand it.
I found this test and took it too.
This test taught me that we are extraordinarily different people, we answered 2 things the same and mostly opposite, I think we'd have a lot of fun drinking together, as I think having a range of people around you keeps you out of echo chambers, plus I'd love to meet your dog. You're right about the tests being nonsense as goes assessing personality types, but taking one alongside someone can be good for a giggle.
NB: am not an interweb psycho who hopes to meet you for real, am just from the UK where 'we'd have fun in the pub' is a genuine compliment. And I really like dogs.
