    As soon as my new civic is built I am ordering one of these. When I learned that they started putting these stupid start/stop systems on new cars my jaw dropped. God bless you guys for making this. I can't believe there's no setting to disable this by default...

    As someone who just installed an Idlestopper in a 2023 Civic, I have the following tips: 1) budget more time than you think you’ll need. You may not need it but at least you won’t feel rushed, 2) relax. It’s easy to feel panicky when you get stuck on a step. You’ll get through it. 3) the power prong from the car won’t fit into the device all the way. This is what the wrap thing (4:55) is for. 4) putting in that screw at 5:40 is easy to forget if you’re in a hurry to button things up.
    If you don’t do stuff like this often, it will seem like a big PITA while you’re doing it. But you only have to do it once. Knowing you’ve hit the idle stop off button for the last time (or realize you’ve forgotten to when the intersection light turns green) will make it all seem worth it.

    Just installed one in my 2022 sport touring hatchback. I can't tell you how great this thing is. I simply could never remember to turn the damn thing off every time I got in the car. Absolutely maddening when the car would shut off at a light. Someone is gonna get killed because of this idiocy. Sometimes if you jump on it, the car can stall. Crazy bad idea.
    Anyway, my sport touring has a wireless phone charger in the forward tray. You will need to disconnect that wire as well to gain enough access to disconnect the plug that makes it all happen.
    Thanks for giving me my piece of mind back!!!

    My idlestopper just arrived and installed. My car is a ‘23. Just an FYI, I had to cycle the ignition and lock and unlock the car via the remote before the car would start. After that, everything is working perfectly. Just an FYI for ‘23 model owners. I noticed that you didn’t have to do that in the installation video.

    2022 Honda Civic Hatchback Sport-Touring, CVT trim here. Install went well. It was ungodly hard to pull the whole assembly out because the phone charger module is like 2 inches thick, and didnt clear the shift unit ( the frame not the stick ) and took quiet a lot of careful fussing to bow things out of the way and tight slide the charger module over the shifter assembly. Finally got it, and after that everything was just unplug connector, plug into idlestopper. Ziptie some stuff to be tidy. Push together, done.
    Took maybe 30 mins, only due to like 20 mins of that being confused what the F was beint a hard wall, until I saw how thick the phone charge module is. But yep! Does the job. Car turns on, x seconds later it disables idle stop, and everything is happy.
    Personally I dont care for idle stop. People argue its stupid to disable it because you save gas, and after a year thats X dollars of gas. And its like cool story bro, I drive modded and drive spirited. Im burning more gas taking off fast with my spirted driving than that idle stop feature would save me in a year. Can average 43MPG on the highway, but when you dont give a F about fuel savings and you drive spirited, try 30MPG at best. Hahaha

    • @jpierce1987

      Just finished up. Wasn't too bad. Routing the wires in a way where they can't touch moving parts from the shifter was a bit of a pain and mostly trial and error with a ton of zip ties, but I eventually got it set up. Worked right away on first start up. For the shifter, there's 4 screws under the center console that hold the leather boot on, so I just took those out and left the boot on the shifter during the install. In the manual there is no other screw to remove the second section of the dash, it just pops out. I wish the wires that plug into the button were a little bit longer. If they were just a bit longer, you could route it behind the shifter with the factory harness and be able to secure it away from everything. But, I ended up securing it in the front left section. That was really the hardest part, just trying to do something to secure it away from the moving parts.

    Definitely a must. Making/ Designing a vehicle to cut off Idle while you are temporarily stopped is insane. It is very annoying to hear a car restart when you are next to it. Worst yet is when it is your own vehicle. This is a headache feature they must do away with. Thank you for providing a bypass solution. Have a 2022 Honda Civic Touring on order here in Sept. 2022. Production is slowed due to lack of parts and computerized systems for much of the safety features in cars these days as we can welcome the COVID Pandemic for making the cost of everything to go up while supply is limited. The Honda Factory had assembled my new Civic and it sits/awaits in storage until the computer and safety components arrive as said it could be 6 to 10 weeks. They haven't even given the 2022 Civic Touring a VIN as it's not complete without the computerized junk in the trunk. What a bummer! Guess 2023 models will not be released until 2024 or a whole year behind schedule.
    Note: Honda after more than 12 years still have not resolved the NOISE problem for the Civic and apparently do not care. You can only tolerate 58 to 60 decibels for so long, the only way not to hear the noise is cranking up the radio or wear permanent ear muffs and ear plugs. I want to be deaf and hear no more no more hit the road jack you Honda just don't care no more. Maybe I should have purchased a Mazda 3 to prevent hearing loss. If taller than 6 foot 3 inches, avoid getting any compact or small car. Go to the next level/ tier such as Accord or Camry or a SUV. Oh! an Audi A6 would be nice if you have $50K plus to spend.

  • @Lazirus951

    Just installed it with the help of this video. Great product! Works perfectly and my dashcam which is plugged into the electrical outlet still works!
    Couple of tips:
    1. You have to have it in park for the electric to shutoff. You can put it in park for it to shutoff, then later use the white lever underneath to allow you to move the shifter once you pull off the center cover.
    2. If you don't have a pry tool, you can use a non-metal kitchen spatula instead.
    Excellent product overall. My only critique is I wish the wires were 2-3 inches longer. It barely fits and just hangs by the wires which is not optimal long-term. Would be better to have more slack so the zip-tie can hold the majority of the weight.

    • @wilbryest

    • @Lazirus951

      @@wilbryest When I installed it, the wires were right next to the shifter housing which means they'll rub against it over time which could cause an issue. Technically it's possible, but realistically, I honestly doubt it'll ever be a problem.

      The idle stop system was implemented by Honda to save small amounts of fuel that are wasted during idling. However, the small savings in gas come with many other problems such as shortening the battery and starter life. Honda also has several vehicles that idle stop and not restart causing them to issue a safety recall.

    Would this void your manufacturer’s warranty?

    • @idlestopper7486
      @idlestopper7486  Рік тому +4

      The Idlestopper will NOT void your warranty, the manufacturer isn’t allow to void your entire warranty legally because of the Moss/Magnusson warranty Act law that was passed in the 1970s. At MOST, the dealer could deny a warranty claim on the idle stop off switch and the center power socket as these are connected directly to the device (and that’s only if they can PROVE the Idlestopper was the fault) All other vehicle systems and parts would still be fully protected under your normal warranty and cannot be affected by you installing the module into your vehicle. The Idlestopper is designed to not fail in any way that can damage the vehicle. It’s a very minimally invasive installation and has no issues with compatibility or durability. It does not reprogram or change any factory settings, it simply presses the off button electronically.

      Just so you know our thinking behind the design:
      Our module retains the idle stop function if you were to need it in situations that may be helpful such as bad traffic where the system may actually work well to save fuel.
      Also the light being ON is a good confirmation that the system IS disabled and if you already disable via the off button then the white "a" light is something that most are used to being lit at all times.

      The only difference Would be the shift knob removal. It’s a simple unscrew on a manual shift knob and saves a few steps

      Yes it is the same, the only difference may be if you have a wireless charger. It will need to be removed during install but it’s just clipped in and can be removed easily.

      The installation process will be exactly the same aside from the shifter knob removal. The manual trans knob unscrews or the shift boot can be unclipped and lifted up to allow for console trim clearance when removing.

      Thanks for your interest!
      The Idlestopper will NOT void your warranty, the manufacturer isn’t allow to void your entire warranty legally because of the Moss/Magnusson warranty Act law that was passed in the 1970s. At most, the dealer could deny a warranty claim on the idle stop switch as it is connected directly to the device (and that’s only if they can PROVE the Idlestopper was the fault) All other vehicle systems and parts would still be fully protected under your normal warranty and cannot be affected by you installing the module into your vehicle. The Idlestopper is designed to not fail in any way that can damage the vehicle. It’s a very minimally invasive installation and has no issues with compatibility or durability. It does not reprogram or change any factory settings, it simply presses the off button electronically.
      Aftermarket parts are a normal part of the industry and manufacturers know it. Customers use many after market parts on their NEW vehicles:
      -Phone and usb adapters
      -drive cameras
      -radar scanners
      -wiper blades
      -tires
      -wheels
      These are just a few of the things that, by the above standard, can technically “void” parts of your warranty in a similar fashion to the idlestopper.
      Example;
      If a phone charger adapter that you got from eBay shorts out and damages your power socket or fuse in your car then the manufacturer isn’t going to cover the repairs needed. Does not void warranty, just denied coverage to that specific repair.
      Example;
      If the Idlestopper shorts out and damages power socket fuse in your vehicle then the manufacturer isn’t going to cover the repairs. Does not void warranty, just denied coverage for that specific repair.
      Example;
      If you put aftermarket tires and wheels on your new car and have issues with balance or vibration then the manufacturer isn’t going to cover the repairs if they are needed to the wheels or tires. Does not void warranty, just denied coverage for that specific repair.
      Hope that makes sense! Again thanks for your interest.

      Couldn’t agree more 😁 Idle stop and the constant stopping/starting in general is terrible for the vehicle’s starter/battery/engine all in the name of “fuel savings” which are extremely minimal at best.
      Honda should have included a setting to permanently turn off from the factory. In real world driving situations the idle stop is inefficient and a possible safety hazard.

      I can second when i asked my dealer l "Hey i plan to cut headlight power wires to install some aftermarket stuff, does that void warranty" they told me chopping wires and all that stuff doesn't void warranty. Changing stuff like cold air intake, turbo inlet, intercoolers, turbo, etc doesn't void warranty.
      What "voids" warranty ( refusal to pay for service coverage, so you pay ) is if you cut a wire and the ECU or something fails, because you shorter 12V to a data sense pin. Then theyre gona go "well, we see you cut the headlight wire and chances are what you did there causes the headlight data signals to stop working"
      Basically. If what you install can be traced to whatever failed, they cant fault your mod ( and will try to fault your mod ). But if they cant prove your mod caused the damage, then its on them.
      So does a idlestoppper risk damaging your car? Well. It plugs into the 12V accessory adapter. If that fails, a fuse blows, no problem / no big deal. On the switch side, presumably all this unit does is just have transistors that act as an electronic switch that simply passes the signal when triggered. And even if that transistor failed, the worst its gona do is just look like your holding the idle stop button down forever. Which isnt gona blow anything up xD

    Any way to disable the dash light that says its disabled? The light should be on when ACTIVE not OFF..

    • @idlestopper7486
      @idlestopper7486  Рік тому

      There’s no way to turn off the light permanently unless the system is completely disabled. Most like the option to turn back on and use the system in situations like heavy traffic where the system would actually be somewhat useful. I understand your annoyance with the light being on but can assure you that it will become not even something that you notice. I agree that Honda should have had the light turn ON only when the system is ACTIVE but at least they made the idle stop light white in color in the 22+ models instead of the more obnoxious yellow of the previous years. Hope this helps!
