The opening skit reminds me of meeting up with a friend in Saints Row 4. I was decked out in full superhero gear and he was in a hoodie with jeans. When he saw me he said "what are you wearing?" "ME?! Dude, we're playing SR4, what are YOU wearing?!"
The game was rebranded back in March 2022 to no longer use Tom Clancy's name. They did it exactly because of this sentiment that people felt like the name was tacked on it just for the sake of it.

Ubisoft: We’re going back to old-school call of duty first person shooter. Also ubisoft: makes the first person shooter with classes and special abilities. not to mention, the price of three skins is the price of a full AAA game. Not gonna lie I had one percent hope for this game when I first heard of it, but then, when I found out it was by Ubisoft, I immediately pretended it didn’t exist
It's a great game, 10x more fun that CoD has been in years. This AJ review is actually a really weak take but he's really not their audience so it's no surprise.
@@MrBocco1 actually, as an old school CoD fan, I think Joe's review is pretty fair. A 6/10 is about what it deserves, maybe a 7 when they add a bit of content and fix bunnyhopping (never in CoD could you airstrafe back and forth in air off the same jump like in this game, it just destroys immersion and game feel).
@@dysruptz6522Yes! Exactly! All this hate for Ubisoft when they’re actually listening to us on XDefiant and communication unlike a certain other FPS. I appreciate all the love they provide for us XD fans.

Joe claims this month is going to be a down month but we have Shadow of the Erdtree for Elden Ring which will be a big thing this month, wish he would've done that as well since he gave it a 10/10 instead of leaving it to Alex(who i don't mind, since he's a big souls player but i would like to hear Joe's take on it as well).
Maybe I am pump rock fan or whatever its called, but from what I have seen, I actually like these xdefiant skins, I think the style they are going for is appealing. Sure it is weird to have such style in a shooter, but they obviously aren't trying to go after serious realistic vibea, thats why they took Tom Clancy's name off from this, cause it was stupid to have it. I do not play these type of games, so I am not being a fanboy, but everyone I have seen, says that these skins look terrible, and I see where these people coming from, but I think these skins are cool, thats my personal opinion. I want game where I pay up front and the fun is now mine. I know there are supposedly good free to play games like Path of exile or Warframe, but I never even got into those, because it has to be a catch.
@@TheRealUcanUwill The problem now our days is that even games you payed nikle and dime you. I was looking some games on discount yesterday hoping to get some good deal and most of them where just lowering the main game price while having ton of DLC and add-ons that to get the full experience you still needed more than just buying a full game in the old days. So the discount for the main game is just fake really. It just makes the game slightly less overpriced.
@@SIPEROTH Yes, I know man. I believe SIms 4 is now entirely free, but I remember vanilla Sims 4 being complete garbage, so you get that for free, but then all the DLC packs are like 40 bucks each. Same with Paradox games, they discount stuff like Stellaris and Europa, but these games have like 500 dollars worth of DLC. I love stellaris tho. I remember playing FIFA long time ago, maybe it was FIFA 2006 or something like that, and it had amazing system where it had unlockable content and you got points from just playing game or doing fun challenges. You could unlock ball skins, uniforms, all star teams etc. It was fun, because system was built simply to make it fun. Then they got rid of it and it took me few years to realize why that system is not in their games anymore. I realized that system brings them no monetary gain, and now everything in those Sports games built to intentionally not be fun, so you would pay them real money to make it fun, its insidious.
@@TheRealUcanUwill i mean, isnt that the trade off? theres free games that are completely playable and fun on their own, with other ways for the developers to make money and make the game more accessible? i dont understand why that would make you ignore such a wide variety of interesting and fun games
Agreed, the debate over it being a cod killer or not is far louder than anyone who has ever claimed it actually is. Some people just want a game that isn't cod and not have that mean to go play battlefield, a drastically different style game. Not sure why people immediately leapt to "omg these guys are trying to kill cod".

I expect to be matched against people 1 or 2 levels above and below me. That's not only a level playing field, but also a chance to improve. Echelon's Scouting abilities and Sonar goggles however are a steal when it comes to scout classes.
Ya it's not a bad game. It is just.. very generic tho. There's nothing nlthat really sticks out to you about it. It feels like basically just another CoD that (activision) pumps out every year. I also feel like sometimes the netcode doesnt work occasionally. I'll be shooting someone and then the bullets dont seem to register for a second or two and then by that time im dead even tho i was shooting on target first. But ya, all in all it's a decent game. The whole like gun skin price is insane that it costs that much but especially (in games like this) where it's cosmetic i honestly dont care about it that much either. Cuz ya, im just not gonna buy it. Now if it was p2w shit where the mtx gave u better guns or upgrades than ya, that's just bad.

He'll only put in the effort required for one of these reviews if he's assured the general masses will know of said game and thus watch his video. It's why he only does a couple of these a year now. Used to do 12-16 a year, now it's down to 5 or 6.

You also voiced a similar argument I've had with Xbox Simps about games like Exoprimal or Starfield. Where I'd be rather audible about how disappointed I was in those games, and they'd immediately Kekw and go; "Imagine complaining about a game that's free :D" And I'd be rubbing my temples going; "Imagine being so stupid that you can't comprehend that a game, whether it's free to play or (in game pass's case) free to access still requires some kind of content value." Meaning the game's content needs to have some kind of reputable value to it (which just means it needs to be worth playing) regardless of the game being free or freely available through some kind of service. I don't understand why so many people seem to think a game being "free" also means it's free of any and all negative criticism.
I am impressed as hell. AJ gets insanely mad about thousands of things, but here he gets popped out of nowhere, gets screwed by bad netcode, and is comparatively insanely chill about it. Also: you should check out star wars hunters then. You can’t buy new characters (which appeared in battlepasses) by any other means than REAL MONEY. It’s not even a premium currency. You can only buy them for 10 bucks a pop or by purchasing the battlepass they are a part of (also 9,99, to make that FOMO of missing out on cosmetics for the same price than just the character).
How is it a slow year? As someone else in the comments mentioned, he hasn't reviewed Stellar Blade, FF7 Rebirth, Helldivers 2, Rise of the Ronin, or Tekken 8. The thing that makes me worried about this is that some people are going to say, see people don't care about sbmm and games without sbmm are bad. But the reality is that most games don't even have real sbmm, it's ebmm, engagement based. You just won a game? Have fun being put into servers where your chances to win are miniscule for 5 games in row and then if you've lost sufficiently you're thrown into a bot lobby where you win
games without SBMM are bad. There is no reality where a pvp game that is unbalanced can be good when the entire point is getting kills and winning. You have it completely backwards, most games don't have sbmm and very few games have ebmm. The whole "SBMM bad" is a result of people not knowing its ebmm or in some cases the sbmm system in that specific game is bad.
@@Johnsmithhjoewhat world are you living in where most games don't have some form of sbmm? I agree that most don't take it as far as cod does with their almost Facebook level, what feels like AI driven EOMM, but nearly every game that has come out since 2015 has some form of MMR tracking to match you with similar individuals and balance teams. Either way, sbmm-less games WON'T be for everyone, and that's fine. It is okay for cod to chase the casuals and bubble wrap them to play against each other. In the same way, it is okay for a small segment of games to cater to people who don't want that Sbmm experience. I don't understand why the "sbmm is bad" argument needs to happen. It is just as pointless as Xbox VS Playstation. There is a game option over here for the player X and another one over there for players A, B, amd C. It doesn't have to satisfy the majority to be successful and fill a void in the gaming industry.
@@lindigj you’re assuming most games have SBMM based on the few games you play or ones that are popular. Most games do not have SBMM. CoD, BF, Forza, almost every AA or indie game, etc. The argument needs to happen because having two unbalanced teams play against each other is never okay. Is there is a sport that pits good players against bad players? Is there a sport that puts men vs women? The real “casual” players don’t actually care about SBMM since they get enjoyment from the gameplay, not winning or losing. Anyone crying about matches being too hard are actually competitive players pretending to be casual. SBMM that works actually serves the casual base by putting casuals/low skill players against each other. Almost every game with SBMM prioritizes low skill experience with new player queues andalgorithms that determine MMR asap. SBMM, when it works properly, benefits everyone; while no SBMM destroys the experience for the minority and negatively affects the majority. There isn’t a good argument against SBMM.
@@Johnsmithhjoe COD absolutely has SBMM... or more specifically EOMM, but I am comfortable here calling it all the same thing for the sake of a blanket argument... Forza Horizon 5 does as well. Forza Motorsport doesn't, but really I don't think that matters. When you go to the local track for amateur races, you're going to experience a similar skill gap there too. Sports absolutely pit people of all skill ranges together... Of course, if you go sign up for basketball, there is a "ranked" system in place, since they only allow pros in the NBA, and amateurs have to play in recreational leagues. I'm not sure if you've ever seen these kind of leagues, but they ABSOLUTELY pit bad players against good players. Or more specifically, the bad players try and play, give up after a season, and only the good players hang around. Or maybe you meant a more casual scenario, like in an unranked lobby in a game. Going to the park to play a pickup game? I hope you don't expect to line up in a SBMM queue to play similarly able athletes. Actually I guess there is a bit of a SBMM system in place, because unless a casual brings their own team, people probably aren't going to want to team with bad players. SBMM is acceptable in some cases, and provides some players with a much better experience than they would otherwise find without it. However, that is one of the only arguments for it, but people who swear by SBMM think that argument is so strong that it trumps anything and everything else. For you to say there are NO arguments against it really tell me everything I need to know about your narrow minded view. I already presented one -- that every game does not NEED to cater to every skill level, because there are plenty of other experiences out there that DO. Another fine argument is that SBMM tends to make it more difficult to play games with your friends if their skill level is not close to yours. My kids and I both game, yet they refuse to play games like COD or other SBMM games with me, because they don't have fun in my lobbies, and the problem with SBMM is that it never lets up. Without it, yes, they are absolutely likely to come up against some tough players, but there are games in between those difficult ones where they are able to thrive more. One other argument is that by being grouped up with people that are at your skill level, you almost never will see players who are significantly better than you, which tends to result in taking much, much longer to see any improvement. Or worse, you pick up bad habits from people at your current level and start to actually regress. Yet another argument is that the games are extremely same-ish. There is no variety in the games you experience. The game just serves up the same tailored experience match after match. What if I was on earlier and playing at a high level because I was hyper focused and playing with some friends that were pushing me to play my best. Then I go out to the bar, come home after a few beers, and I just want to hop on and slug it out with random people? Nope, I'm gonna get tossed straight in with the same types I was playing earlier in the day. Look, there are plenty of arguments both ways, for and against SBMM, and I am well aware that with all the different ways you could implement SBMM that there is some "perfect" system out there that would probably solve every concern that I have with SBMM. The problem is, you saying "we just need to do SBMM better" doesn't fix the fact that so many games that implement SBMM check boxes on every one of the issues I brought up above. Ultimately, like I said in the beginning, there are other experiences out there that DO have SBMM. You don't have to play the ones that don't. The world is full of options, and that is how it should be.
@@lindigj Engagement based matchmaking is not SBMM. Ensuring a player with X losses gets a win their next match because the system knows players quit after X losses, is not balancing teams. If Michael Jordan shows up to a pick up game of basketball they are going to balance the teams. That’s an extreme example to show that balancing happens in every level of sport. If one team is consistently winning a drop in sport the teams will get balanced. Even little leagues balance the teams by rotating players. Your enjoyment does not trump other people’s enjoyment. If you want to have fun with your kids play offline. Do you think the kids on the other team enjoy that you’re a significantly higher skill? No one improves getting stomped by better players. They improve by playing close matches, practicing, and watching others play. Have your kids gotten better from getting stomped or did they complain to you about not having fun? Online PvP is never the same, outside of you getting stomped or stomping others, which goes back to my previous points. At the end of the day the non-SBMM arguments are selfish and invalid. There are already hundreds of people complaining about xdefiant not having SBMM since it results in all of their matches being a stomp. It’s simple probabilities. Without SBMM, If you take someone who is in the bottom 10% most of the people they get RNG matched with and against are going to be better than them. If you take someone in the top 10% the inverse applies. Not having SBMM ruins the game for a lot of people while it might help you have fun with your kids.

I feel like Ubisoft sticks Tom Clancy's name on anything resembling a "military shooter"
They’ve been doing that since 2013 nothing surprising
Tom Clancy would love what they have done to his IP, from realistic military simulator to feminist hero shooters. What a time to be alive.
Tom Clancy's Farcry 7, Tom Clancy's assassin creed infinite and let's not forget Tom Clancy's Immortals Phenix rising
But it's not Tom claney anymore. lol They removed the name.
The game was rebranded back in March 2022 to no longer use Tom Clancy's name. They did it exactly because of this sentiment that people felt like the name was tacked on it just for the sake of it.
Is anyone here following the announcement of the game's death.
Yeah lol, it was written all over the walls
That game's death was so predictable even it was in development! I'm not so surprised at all 😂

And so OJ's streak of having the best costume in an Angry Review continues.
Amen! The only games I play of there's is Far Cry and I've never been tempted by their micro transactions.
Personally, I do not play online games, so it is easy for me to say, but I just never touch free to play games, I do not mean it as insult, but it feels that these games are for kids who can't really buy games yet, Free to play is instant turn off for me, because you know its not a charity, why should I ever want to play a game that is designed to nickel and dime me, it sounds awful.

He only does real Angry Reviews for AAA games or AA games that pop off (and are borderline AAA anyway). He'll only put in the effort required for one of these reviews if he's assured the general masses will know of said game and thus watch his video.
It's why he only does a couple of these a year now. Used to do 12-16 a year, now it's down to 5 or 6.
@@1_underthesun if what you're saying is true he definitely wouldn't have skipped out on Helldivers2 LMFAO. or Dragon's Dogma 2
I think he meant fps games
@@leiplays-wf7ez Helldivers 2 is a bit of a mystery, but Dragons Dogma 2 was big in gamer circles, but idk how much mass audiences would have flocked to watch a review on it. I have a few casual gamer friends and I'm positive some of them never even heard of it.
Lets just say there's a reason he does a Madden review every single year, but games like DD get skipped.
@@1_underthesun so about that recent review?
Lol
Stfu and sit down, dude is just lazy, that's it.
COD abandon their MP audience for Warzone. so not spending a dime for a shooter that cares for the MP community is dope to me. Its preseason so hopefully they keep it up. I
That’s how I feel too man
Finally an honest review instead of people saying “this is the cod killer” and not pointing out that the game does have issues
It's funny how the store worked better than the game itself for the first few days
25:00 had me 💀 😂 “gotta get a jump on the enemy”
wait and see the reaction when joe finds out about the $450 skin for a skin in league of legends xD
You also voiced a similar argument I've had with Xbox Simps about games like Exoprimal or Starfield. Where I'd be rather audible about how disappointed I was in those games, and they'd immediately Kekw and go;
"Imagine complaining about a game that's free :D"
And I'd be rubbing my temples going;
"Imagine being so stupid that you can't comprehend that a game, whether it's free to play or (in game pass's case) free to access still requires some kind of content value."
Meaning the game's content needs to have some kind of reputable value to it (which just means it needs to be worth playing) regardless of the game being free or freely available through some kind of service.
I don't understand why so many people seem to think a game being "free" also means it's free of any and all negative criticism.
Ubisoft just loves to poke open wounds by cramming all their abandoned franchises into their other, much worse franchises
"There's not much out right now"
Sure....
Hell there's an Elden Ring expansion coming soon too, not to mention all the stuff coming in September/October.
Joe's talking out of his arse. Reviewing this garbage but not the stuff that should actually get reviews.
I’m still like WTF on him not reviewing FF16 & TOTK from last year.
@@davidcase8972 You aren't allowed to talk about Nintendo games ever, or else Nintendo's legal department will turn you into an indentured slave for the rest of your life.
"What is that outfit joe" in the first frame itself I can't stop laughing 🤣🤣🤣,you did it joe...
other joes acting career has been insane to watch grow
I just love your content Joe.
After a busy work day, your review vids really help me stay up in the gaming world❤.
I really want a angry joe review of FF7 Rebirth
I like the editing on this Joe it feels much better.
When people that I know say "the game is free," they are saying that you can play online for free without paying a subscription.
