  • On an air conditioning preventive maintenance, I replace all filters and belts. One of the belts was hard to get off. instead of forcing the belt on. I decided to adjust the motor until I had proper tension. Therefore the motor and wheel bearings properly move without too much tension.

I'm classified essential worker, yet this time of year heat and ac not sure falls into essential work. I'm doing mostly ac pm's on a commercial building. Many homeowners are too freaked out to let someone in their house unless it's an emergency. I don't blame them I rather not go into their house yet its a job.

Bill you ARE the backbone of this country! Time for more work to come back to the USA. All those parts need to come back to USA manufacture. Cheap china junk just cost us one trillion dollars this month... was it worth it? Time to reconsider taking care of our own.

a little tip tip also my supervisor told me , when moving the adjustement rack is to count how many motions of the rachet ,normally it’s very close for measurements

Great advice, often my adhd distracts me or I accidentally crank the ratchet in the wrong direction.

just marker (or pencil) where the tray overlaps or where the bolts/washers are if it's an inside tray ;)

Hey love the videos man, before I adjust motors I like to mark where the bracket was with a Sharpie.

All belts are made to a tolerance which is a plus or minus something in fractional inches. Also when it comes to belts Dayco Blue Ribbon is the best for sure. Just saying fella.

Ok, so now I’m curious where you are from? The IS president just yesterday, March 22, activated the National Guard to help out with the Covid-19 outbreak. Or maybe you were just joking around. I get it ya got to make light of the situation when ya can. Anyways, thanks for the great video, I’m still learning as much from you and the other HVACR guys on here as I am in school.

I live in Bergen county nj. We were on lock down when I filmed this. The national guard was setting up Bergen community college along with fema to start drive through testing the next day. That college is 1-1/2 miles from where I was working. It could of been news I couldn’t tell. Yet i have to joke a little. A coworkers has tested positive I found out yesterday. Which I was around a few days earlier. Now I may have it, I hope not though. I work in many hot spots why I gear up with respirators, masks, and goggles. If I get sick and anything happens to my wife or little girl I would be devastated. I wish youtube was around when I started. Lots of information and experience shared here.

The new one probably doesn't work because the old one was stretched

Do you use a belt tensioner!

    • @thehvachacker

No I go by feel. Do you own a tensioner and which one you recommend?

Browning. Get em fairly cheap on eBay. Their tension chart is available online

Here we go, another belt that is too loose. A belt tensioner is required to do that. 90% + of the belts out there are too loose because techs don’t use the proper tool. Common guys you owe it to your customers.
