Fun video. You are very patient. I think it is great that you humor yourself. Cuts down on stress. These old Lennox units seem really well built. The blower housing seemed over built compared to the videos I see of other package units.
Lennox makes good systems, not sure why many give them a bad rep. These are not like aaon systems. Midsize 5-30 ton RTU’s I like their product. I’m not picky though I like Trane and Carriers RTU’s also. Not a fan of Goodman packaged units
I didn’t grab from supply house it was pulled in my warehouse. I at least was able to swap the condenser fan motor, blade and cap that day so it wasn’t a complete waste
Those adjustable pulley's are terrible. I have changed very many that stripped the adjustable thread side. Finally went to non-adjustable pulley's with no more issues except for occasional worn out due to old age. Thanks for that video.
John , you are right, the purpose of a variable sheave is for the balancer to dial in the correct air flow . Once the specs. are assured , the vari. sheave should be replaced solid. The solid speed should match the finale air flow setting of the vari. sheave. K.M.J.P. C.M.
Hello Jonny, how do you measure the variable pulley before you buy a fixed one? Thanks, I have a few variable-speed pulleys in the building and the belts almost sit at the bottom of the pulleys, so I want to change them. but need to buy the proper pulley.@@jonnymac31
Getting the wrong part sucks. Even worse when the unit is down and its 400 on a 3 day weekend. Thats why I always check it at the supply house along with my notes. Been screwed several times because of that. Bosses get pissed and customer gets pissed. 5 minutes saves a headache. Fear not my friend, it was an honest mistake. At least you got the condenser fan motor fixed.
I usually check before leaving our warehouse. My parts guys excuse was he thought I wanted the blower wheel pull even though my notes were different. Yet still my fault for not looking when I threw the parts in my truck
Great video! Could have made a mark on shaft behind the worn pulley before you took it off? I was thinking could that help you with pulley alignment when installing the new pulley
yes true, if spraying shaft with wd or something else to help break free often the marker will come off. worth trying and chance it might stay on shaft.
I know you cannot carry too many tools up to a roof. But in many cases if i must remove a pulley that i cannot get the set screws loose, or if i cannot fit a puller on because of tight spaces. i use a grinder and cutoff wheel to split it then you can pull it right off.
I figured so. :) I know what camera lens and other optics distortion does to things without a dead center straight on shot, even then wide angle, fisheye and others can play tricks
Hey Mr. Hack. Do you know how to set the alignment of the sheaves with a piece of string ? Did you take any base measurements (mtr. speed, mtr. amps ,blower R.P.Ms. , opening or throat of the mtr. sheave ) prior to starting work? Where is your belt gage to set the PROPER tension ? NEVER , EVER ! use a powered tool to set or remove a set screw. Are you sure you did not change air flow on the unit? Did you check mtr. amps. ,blower speed when you finished ? BACK TO SCHOOL YOU GO !!
I used the metal piece that goes across the front of the blower slider to make sure my alinement was good, also checked motor amps after testing. As for tension you can go by feel. Doing this long enough you know when a belt is loose, or too tight. I opened the shiv last time out so I knew I had to close the shelves to where the previous one was set. Not where it was when I removed. That unit is running good if not I will hear about it next month when I do the heat pm. I am in this building 8 times a year for maintenance
Lol. There's always those know it all snobs like you. Let the man work. What if he's starting out? Always good to get repetition. Everyone starts somewhere. To many trade fudds like you out there who just want people to pick up and trash and carry your tools all day
Great video. Wrong part, hate when that happens. Thanks for leaving it in the video. Real world

Always open box before leaving the supply house
😉

Ohh nice

Those sheaves are rubbish. I also go with fixed. The belt matches the cut on the sheave better.

Absolutely correct.

@@thehvachacker it happens bro. Hopefully he learned to call from the supply house to verify next time. 5 minutes saves hours.
If you leave the Allen bolt loose and let it run for a minute you will have perfect alignment.
Pretty cool idea

Thanks Eddy

PITTSBURGH®, ITEM #:67890 metric PITTSBURGH®, ITEM #:67889 sae long reach hex they also make the black hardened ones in long also
What was the bit set you used for your ratcheting milwaukee
We have a Dayton Motor, HP 1/3. How do we tell what pulley to buy with it?
From size of motor shaft
I got home the other day and my combo pizza with olives was a cheese pizza.
Simple mistake. You do great work!
Usually my parts guys don’t grab wrong parts like this. I should of known when I was told the shaft size I gave was wrong
How many hp motor is in this blower motor
ouch at wrong pulley, I hate when that happens, or the new part is damaged, then you kick yourself in the hind quarters as you return it
it looked way out of alignment on camera, but we never got a straight on view, so it may have just been camera lens buffoonery lol
It’s the camera I hit photo by accident when I was aligning the pulleys with the metal bracket that goes across the front of the blower section.
I figured so. :)

What about the PIN?
Great video.
SKF makes a nice laser pulley alignment tool, quick to use as you just slap it on with magnets.
I will check into it.
Nice job
Thanks Donnie
Good video
Loosen both set screws bro trust me it will pop right off. No puller needed
Great video ty
Thanks
I heard guys say some of these pulleys are adjusted to a certain CFM how do you do to install the new pulley to old pulley specs ?
you would need to check the manual. sometimes theres a sticker on the blower housing specifying the number of turns required for the motor pulley
Looks good from my house
Always check power before putting hands inside machine. Also use a lock out tag out kit.
I could tell by the shape of the box that was gonna be the wrong Pulley

Easy to be a spectator... don’t even have the balls to make your own videos...show us how it’s done or keep it to yourself .....sorry af
Damm waste time...you rushed job...i like ur videos
like watching paint dry
I think you need more experience doing this type of job,to many fancy tools and you took way too much time to do this job, just my opinion
