I like octagon for small buildings. For large round buildings I like the sixteen sided style. I find that laying out spokes from the center and placing walls on the spokes establishes a center for the roof as well as the walls. Every 5 meters from the center, the wall edges fit together. Doing this means you never end up with a small gap in the center of the floor.
thank you for this tutorial. I've been struggling with this for a while. Tower rebuild #4 should be successful with the knowledge I have now thanks to you. Well paced and good details on why your method works.
Very good tips to clearify alot of things, thank you! 👍 I didn't mind the mic at all to be honest. The music was a little loud though, and therefore interfering with your voice. 😉
Is a great Video about the rooft but would be great if you explain how to bould the base with the stone blocks and where to grip the wood poles in the block stones, Cheers
Cool designs! I'm going to use the idea. Thank you! I landed here when searching how to build a round roof in Valheim. I have a project going on in the Deep North where I'm building an observatory with a large, round wall with a huge glass (crystal) window facing the sea. I wish I knew the trick about the octagonal design though, vs. perfectly round, as this is the problem I'm facing, the roof pieces don't align perfectly. It is indeed tricky to build a round roof but with your tips I'm hopefully making it a bit prettier than it's currently. :D
I wonder if you have tried to mount the roof pieces on the octagon style to the braces that meet in the middle rather than on the ones that go around the circumference.
If you want a perfectly round tower with a good looking roof you must build bigger. Otherwise its gonna end up being strange in the overlap and simply look weird from afar.
@@Mornomgir you could find the center and build the roof down from the point. then there wont be any issues and the beams can 'touch' the walls based on snapping from the roof. then your roof will look fine
It doesn't, when i tested it all corners do not meet to the center, but you can make smaller octagon using 1 2m wall for each side the roof work with that too.
that tune reminds me of something... whats then name of the music you have in the background? edit:my brain left me down, how did i not notice the scheming weasel thing XD
So instead of how to put a roof on a round building, it's actually just your opinion of don't do it and here's your alternative. That was a waste of 10 minutes :(
Go perfectly round then slap an octagon as the top layer for setting the roof. That change in shape right at the top gives visual interest as well.
Apologize for the mic quality do not have the best recording environment but in time 😊
Love the content but I think the music was a little bit loud

Thanks for this! I often want to create uniquely-shaped structures, but the roofing holds me back. Very helpful!
Still very good build tips .. never thought of working a roof like that in early game with Thatch roofing pieces on the octagon shape..
I started doing this and the roof looks so much better, not to mention the fact you actually have straight walls to put furniture up against.

I am glad i could help 🙂
you could also find the centre point and build down from the top. then the walls don't matter. ie like an umbrella
Loving the build and explanation 👌🏻 sound was fine mate 👍🏻
Thanks 👍
What is this melody blessing my ears 😭🙏
Thx for the awesome tips man you're a legend!
The building in the tumbnail and the start of the video. Is there a tutorial or video from it?

that would work for bigger builds but most ppl build smaller stuff and need a nice small workable scale house or tower
@@Versaugh Indeed so. Just pointing it out. Great vids btw! i may have borrowed a few ideas for my city.

How do you vent this??
You have great videos, the only thing I feel bothered about is this soundtrack. Great content, thanks for the tips.
Great tips! Does this work well with a smaller structure as well? Like maybe a 6 sided?

@@Versaugh Cool, thx!
you should lower the music volume on your mix. i can still hear you, but it's a bit overpowering.
but anyways thanks for the help!
OOooohhh so thats how it should be. I totally struggle with this kind of design.
I just came back to Valheim. How did you get all those extra building options?
new hearth and home update that was released ion sept 16
What does it look like on the inside?
Star patterns, very clean and pretty I admit
You are a great builder. Are you architect or engineer irl?
none :D,
that tune reminds me of something... whats then name of the music you have in the background? edit:my brain left me down, how did i not notice the scheming weasel thing XD
That music is anxiety inducing.
what mod that make you can fly like creative mode at mincraft?
not a mod, using devcommands called debugmode
@@Versaugh ty
This is good info but it would have been better to start a build from scratch and it also didn’t include if you wanted to do this with posts.
LOL less than a min. in and already getting called out..
Please make the music louder, hearing you isn't difficult enough.
Will do 😂
god the music...please turn it down or off...i cant watch this
You should have applied this to wooden buildings, and given the dimensions it’s hard to recreate from eyesight alone.

I cpuldnt finish watching that music is too distracting :(
So the Pro just wastes more lifetime. Got it.
noob build look better XD
