this is amazing, if ICF turns out to withstand a EF5 tornado, more specifically, the infamous MOORE OK TORNADO, then that settles it. if i ever build a home, ICF will be and only be used.
ICF is clearly superior to wood frame but this house did not experience the most violent part of the tornado. In the frame at 1:35 you can see that the inner core passed 50 to 75 yards from the house(made clear by ground scouring and debarked trees in the background.) Still impressive but it’s a little disingenuous to say it survived ef5 winds.
Would be a 1000x better result if they had used ICF roof as well...

It's a dream of mine to build an ICF house with steel where wood is usually used. Sure, it's overkill.
Same here. I don't want wood anywhere. Our plan is for a rounder house and a flat or very low profile roof.
