BAck in the day, we ( Auto Glass shop) used the yellow WS adhesive and after applying it, we would stick the Weatherstrip against it then pull it away and let it set up for a few minutes or longer, then attach the weatherstrip.... It seemed to stick well that way....
I have even put it together wet and tape it down until it dries and had good luck with that too. This video shows the way you're supposed to do it I believe.
Question, did you ever do video showing you put body to see how it fit on the frame with new transmission and engine to see if you had transmission clearance on transmission tunnel and engine???
Thanks, the auto industry has improved in this area lots of pin clips and 2 sided tape now a days. It's great to see the old school way done right.
You bet!
My winter project. Thanks for the preview of what is to come.
You bet!

Yes, I sure did! Plenty of clearance too!
Hard to find any videos of transmission swaps to 700r4 into a c2 corvette what clearance problems?
I have to do this on my C1 only the doors are still on the car, wish my luck. Thanks
Good luck!
