I’m lowkey scared for the film to come out bc people like me, the og chaos walking BOOK fans, are gonna be overlooked by the Hollanders who slide their ways into the fandom and all they talk about is how Tom is an amazing actor (which he is) and act like they know more about the books/film than us og fans know :(
Literally have the same worries after watching the trailer. Deffo feels like the movie is gonna feel rushed and just won't be as good as if they made this into a 3 season TV show or just 3 movies. So each book get its own part its actually so frustrating.

i feel so late to this video but ive just gotta say this summed up my feelings towards this movie and fears of it SO WELL. im so passionate about this book series and every time movie news comes out im just like 😬. the knife of never letting go is probably my all time favorite book and i am FRIGHTENED for this movie. anyway cool to see other people who are also super passionate towards this series!!! (it feels like a super small community sometimes)
Of course this movie gets a January dumping ground release date. So sad that this is going be a disaster probably. Had so much potential.

Late comment during Coronavirus quarantine here. Considering the modest success of films like Split, Glass, most recently 1917 and Bad Boys for Life in January, I think studios are looking to change the perception of January as the “dumping ground” month of movies. I don’t know if Chaos Walking is the movie that could help, considering the other “big” movies in January hoping to break out (Mortal Kombat and Peter Rabbit 2), and Maze Runner: The Death Cure didn’t do so well in January either. Also, the constant movie delays due to quarantine also won’t help, so the possibility of the release date moving up is thrown out of the window.

I just got the knife of never letting go but i haven't been able to get into it i also just got Percy Jackson the demigod files so I think I'll read that first because it's much shorter but I'm looking forward to reading it
The Chaos Walking writing style takes some getting used to, but it will grow on you with time.
Oh wow this video made me notice how much I still really need to go and watch Knives out. I love when you listed the casting and then laughed at Nick Jonas being in it. WHY IS HE IN THIS MOVIE. Why does he get to play Davy Prentiss who is such a wonderfully complex character and needs careful acting and doesn't fit the image of Nick Jonas in my head at all DD: I am actually lowkey happy because the release date is the week before my birthday so I get to watch it on my birthday. BUT you make valid points why January is not the best time for it to be released and is quite nervous making. Lol at Ness throwing lowkey (or maybe highkey lets admit) shade on the film and the directors methodology :P Also the whole trilogy in a single film?! Nope that is NEVER going to work first because so much happens in the series and secondly because there is so much depth to what happens in the series so no no way is that gonna be cohesive or good. Are we gonna end up with some kind of Percy Jackson film adaption >.> Ahahaha I loved you talking about that one single picture because let's be real thats all we have to go on and its kinda burned into the back of my eyelids at this point. And random side note: love your voice!!
I want someone to start play "Burning Up" when Nick comes on screen as Davy. MAYBE HE WAS DOING SOME SHADE, I HOPE HE WAS! Also, I don't think its the whole trilogy but theyre putting multiple plot points from the other books in the movie.

Honestly I feel like there are SO many other Ness novels which fit nicely into the space of 1 movie - More Than This, The Rest Of Us Just Live Here, Release, And the Ocean Was Our Sky, not to mention A Monster Calls was a spectacular film imo.
Chaos Walking would have been much higher quality as a trilogy of movies to me, the same way I picture Burn as a 2 season TV show. They didn’t care too much for how Ness had set up the story, just worried about making sure they cast big names to draw in an audience. I really hope they can prove my low expectations wrong :/
The January dumping ground has actually changed over the last 3 to 5 yrs. For example Deadpool dropped on February 12 2016..….I know it's not January but Feb is another of the old dump months. Deadpool was considered a risky venture as the 1st R rated superhero film and I think it because the highest grossing R rated film ever. Since then there have been a few other.
There is a video of Tom Holland where he mentions Chaos Walking 2. So, I know the original plan was to make at least two movies. This movie has gotten a good 3 years of really bad press. Tom did reshoots 18 months after the original filming ended because he was so busy. The new problem was that Tom looked a lot different after 18 months. It meant that Tom looks "distractingly different" from scene to scene. It sounds like they reshot the scenes between Tom and Daisy and for his other scenes I expect them to have done a lot of green screen filming to digitally replace the "young Tom" with the "older Tom." There have been a lot of really bad reviews from test screeners as well. A lot of them say the film is a giant mess. I know the original cut was deemed "unreleasable" "unwatchable" and "unfit for public consumption." It looks like they did a mix of reshoots and green screen filming to fix scenes that they can't refilm. I wish they would trash the movie, sell it to another studio that will hire people who truly love the books and will be faithful to them!

This movie has been deemed "un-releasable" by the studio big shots. It's had a couple release dates but they keep pushing it back. The final cut was so bad that they had to go back and spend 30 million dollars on re-shoot things. The re-shoots came out bad because they waited 19 months to reshoot things and Tom and Daisy look different from scene to scene. He was young when the filming started so after 19 months he didn't look the same. From the day they started filming to when they finished the re-shoots Tom aged three years. They can't hide it and the research I did says the actors don't even want the movie to come out because it is so messed up. watch mojo is the one that has a video on here that talks about how messed up the movie is. They have massively over-spent on the movie with 130 million and it would eat up around another 40 million in advertising. They are going to kill the movie. If I were Tom Holland I wouldn't want it to come out either.

This movie will undoubtedly be a dumpster-fire, but I'm going to watch it anyway.
If I keep my expectations low enough, maybe I won't be depressed over the end result...?
