Really cool to hear this. Akkerman has a unique sound with hard rock, jazz, classical, blues, funk a sense of humor, and everything else, and his sweep picking was ahead of his time. There's really no other guitar player that gets that edgy combination of chops and groove that Akkerman cooks up- one of a kind. The rest of the band rocks too.
I have a nearly complete recording from focus at the Jazz Bilzen Festival august 1974.Just 2 month's later than this concert. The set is almost the same,Hamburger Concerto was just out,my sweetheart was a new song wich came on mother focus 2 year's later only slightly different.Great stuff.
I've also recorded the live in Osaka Japan when I has been perhaps 16 years old, about forty years ago and the tape I've recorded is ?? I think I still have it.
Very polite audience, not much audience talk during the songs, applause after the song is ended etc. Japanese could learn all the rest of us a lot about respect and culture . 💁♂️
What a great performance from one of the best prog bands ever. The keyboard player's voice is hard to bare when he goes for his Ian Gillan empression but for the most part, this band rules! (If one tolerated Billy Corgan singing all the time, Mr. keyboard man for a little while is not too bad)

Thank you for posting. Jan is my favourite guitarist. From Brooklyn, NY
Thanks for sharing this great live recording. Especially, live version of "Birth" seems to be very rare. I like "Birth" very much. Thanks again!

Wow, 'Love remembered' has a complete new and beautiful guitararrangement than on the record ! Interesting ! Thanks for sharing !
Hamburger Concerto Live...... yea thanks for posting!
It's great! Thanks a lot!! From Brazil!!!
I love the one audience member clapping throughout the concerto. Maybe you can send him a residual!
I found that pretty unbearable. :P
Thank you for this great and rare recording!!!!!
A rare case of Van Leer pulling off that damn whistling solo!

...and two years later... Great concert!
Excellent audio-quality! Thank you for posting!
On the final song Thijs announces who the band members are and he says clear as a bell "Colin Allen".
Love Remembered :D
Very interesting to hear My Sweetheart played that way, well before it was done on Mother Focus where it's more discoish (if that's a word).
Line-up is incorrect - Pierre van der Linden was on drums. I was no longer a member of Focus by that time.
Colin Allen ! I remember you ! you recorded Hamburger Concerto and one song on Mother Focus !!!
Dave Bowman Yeah - that's me - guilty as charged.
Colin Allen Colin, are you playing today ?
Dave Bowman No - I retired about two and a half years ago. Time marches on - I did my bit - It was time to hang up my sticks.
Colin Allen Well Colin, thanks for everything I have learned to listen good music listening you Regards !

Anyone can have a link for the download ??
stuff coming out of the woodwork all the time good and bad.
Did you have fun playing with FOCUS ?
Who?
@@Kgio-2112 hes probably asking colin allen
Was loving it until toward the end where some dude won't stop clapping. . and if that isn't bad enough he's off beat.
+Greg Lamb Get over it, I got used to it after awhile, it is still a worthy bootleg recording.
Just ignore Greg, we're in Japan. Focus rules.
Who is the buffoon incessantly clapping (offbeat)? Ruins the recording.
It's a bootleg you buffoon.
Whoever it is that's clapping, it is every beat, not just the offbeat.
It's absolutely isn't it dreadful Shut up clapping!!!!!!!! Completely out of time. Doesn't know there's time signature changes either. 😂
Who is ruining it with out of time clapping ?! Shut up ! 😂
Bad soundmix, great band, :(
