Fantastic song and band. Split Enz were brilliant, quirky, bizarre! So many great songs. They were the first band I fell in love with!! The singer this time is Neil Finn, he went on to form Crowded House ...oh you just read that!!
Neil relationships are actually really strong. Still with his first wife, had a band with her, their sons have played on Neil's solo albums and are now in Crowded House.
OMG. I love this song. Can't believe that I still remember all the words to sing along. I used to play this CD over and over many years ago. Thank you👍😃 🥰🥰🥰Hugs from a Canadian Dear🇨🇦
Beloved band from New Zealand! Started in the early 1970s by art students, including Tim Finn (lead vocal here), they were experimental and then dabbled with early punk rock when staying in London. Relocation back to New Zealand, and being joined by Tim’s brother, Neil Finn, saw the band move into New Wave music. This song was released in 1980, and gave them international recognition and success. They disbanded in 1984, with Neil going on to found the highly successful Crowded House.
MORE SPLIT ENZ PLEASE!!!!! They are spectacular. Try "I see red", "6 months in a leaky boat", "one step ahead", - crap, most of their stuff is just out and out gold. Thanks for this matey
I grew up watching this New Zealand band, on Australian music TV shows back in the 70s. They were very different and quirky for the times but oh so good! I know you reacted to Crowded House recently. Neil Finn, lead singer, and his older brother Tim Finn, began in Split Enz. Other bangers are, Poor Boy Message to my girl I see red That was my mistake History never repeats Six months in a leaky boat Enjoy!
@@eviekelpie1Tim was in Crowded House at various times. He sang backing vocals on the 2nd and 4th albums and of course was a full member for the 3rd album woodface.
Yes this was the big hit on the radio in Canada but the best song was 🦈 "Shark Attack". Much faster paced. Problem is that the official video is of a Live performance that was no where near as good as the studio version on their Album Tru Colors. I love this band and Crowded House.🥰🇨🇦
Huge in NZ and Australia back in the mid 70s and early 80s their song Six Months In A Leaky Boat was banned by the BBC because it came out in 82 during the Falklands War and the words leaky boat might have a negative effect on the Navy sailing towards Argentina.
Great reaction, thank you😊Yep, I would say it's 80's😊Split Enz had lots of great songs...to name just some of them, "One Step Ahead" is another 80's classic and has a great official video (the upload on nzoz1980 channel has the best quality), "Dirty Creature" (which has brilliant lyrics) and "Poor Boy" are two of my favs with Tim singing, and "Message to My Girl" is IMO one of the greatest love songs ever written. Sometime you might want to check out Eddie Vedder's fantastic performances of "I See Red," "History Never Repeats" and some other Split Enz songs, with Tim and Neil's son Liam (on nettwerkbackstage channel).
Neil Finn is a pretty incredible person! Split Enz, Crowded House and also hearing that he is a member of Fleetwood Mac? That is a pretty awesome career 😁
Yeah, I'm surprised it's that noticeable 🤔 I damaged my right ear a week ago so I switched to mono so I can hear more of the total sound in my left ear while the right heals, but I didn't expect it to ruin the flow of the sound on the channel 😬 It'll be mono for a few more days, unfortunately
@@ShawnSalvadori I noticed that too but it's okay. Take as long as you need on mono. Better that your ear has the time it needs then some extra just to be sure.❤️👍
Do you remember reacting to Crowded House? Well the singer of that group and song is the same singer who sang this song, Neil Finn. He is also now singing with Fleetwood Mac.
This brings back a ton of memories...!!!! 1980 was a great time to be 22....
This was in heavy rotation at the start of the new station on tv called “MTV” 🔥❤️ New Wave exploded !
…….back when MTV was playing music videos 24/7 !

Eddie Vedder loved this song and has sung it live many times.
I was hoping you'd react to this one. It's the song that introduced me to Split Enz, Crowded House later also brothers Neil and Tim Finn.
OMG. I love this song. Can't believe that I still remember all the words to sing along.

Got the album and saw live great music great live band
Splits Enz turned into Crowded House.
Yes but without Tim Finn
@@eviekelpie1Tim was in Crowded House at various times. He sang backing vocals on the 2nd and 4th albums and of course was a full member for the 3rd album woodface.
I was stationed in New Zealand going to Antarctica when these guys hit. I even saw them a few years later in the states.
80’s New Wave. What a fun time!

@@ShawnSalvadori He is, and it is😊
Dirty Creature was my intro to Split Enz on MTV. Blew my mind, as the New Wave era tended to do to me.
80's.
God, I’m in 8th grade again! I love this.
Same lead singer as Crowded House
I owned this album in colored vinyl. It was a laser pattern 😁
My favourite song 🥰🥰
FYI!
Neil Finn replaced Lindsay Buckingham from Fleetwood Mac, when Lindsay was fired! 😮
One Step Ahead is a great song and a great video! Give it a try!
Crazy how old this song is
Nz version.of the cars!.great band
Too bad you didnt se the video on this
Again, another mono version -- especially noticeable by the hi-hat and vocals in the choruses. Check your sound settings. 😊
