I had to make a comment after reading some terrible comments on here. I think Tenfold is prob the only legit "youtuber" /DOP on this platform that makes good shit. High quality productions with bts on every shoot. Every other youtuber is just a content creator tying to make it look like they get free stuff cuz they are a "filmmaker". Keep up the good work bro!
Just received the 35. It's (almost) everything I need, but of course, the 75 is on order. I shoot Leica M, and the rendering is very close to that quality. Never thought that would be possible. I do wish they were smaller and lighter, but I get it.
Yeah! They are definitely a chunky lens, but the look and rendering is money! The Leica M is solid, haha I can only image how big the combo looks for you.

Although yesterday was speaking with my professional photographer dear friend, looking at her MRI report. Let’s just say big heavy lens all day, day in day out is not for the faith of heart. One’s body or more might take a 🥊. I do like how they rigged out the Sony’s FX3 for the movie 🍿 was it the “Creator,” or something like that.
@@garfieldmtify , all great points! I've got Arles paired with the R5C in a CineBack with small rig battery. It's heavy, alright, but handheld is manageable when tucking it into yourself and rolling that way. Tripod is always nearby.

We used them on a music video recently and they made the talent and everything look great, so we were very happy with them. We only had access to the A set but we used the 25, 35, 50 mostly and then the 75 maybe twice. The 100 was a bit tight for what we were doing. The B set looks very intriguing , especially as they have more wides, we would have loved access to a 21 or maybe 14 and then cropping back in a bit. I think I'd probably have to get a mix if anything.
This makes you wonder, why the Supreme Primes cost $192,000. I know that they are overall nicer lenses but are they that much nicer? I feel like ‘price hiking’ is a real thing. Great video as always bro.
You mention the EF to PL adapter. Do you know if this series works on Canon C300 Mark III with that adapter? The $1500 Canon adapter is a bit out of reach. Thanks for a thoughtful review!
If there's no flange distance problem, it should probably be okay. But best to try it out, unfortunately we don't shoot Canon so couldn't test it, but it should probably be fine! (sorry we can't give a definitive answer)
@@timdanyo898 hard to say! We like clinical and have a bit of space for post. But it depends on the look you’re going for the project! Def worth renting if you can before making the jump. We want to try Athena’s before we say to get one or the other.
@@jean-philippegrignom6479 the Nisi look great too! We haven’t had a chance to test them yet, but hopefully down the line we’ll be able to test some other lenses in the market like nisi or blazars. So many lens options out there right now!
i have the same doubt ! they lean on the same side of being a clean kit, but the nisi are half the price and much smaller, while not being that darker. Since you will be most likely be using at 2.8 forwards (on ff) I think it's a nice competition and comparison would be awesome ! I have a couple friends that bought the Arles and others have the NiSi already, i'll see if i can compare them as well or at least get some footage. I have a contax zeiss set (which i absolutely love) but i need a more reliable kit for the bigger productions i'm getting so this might be an option. But on the other hand, them being cheap, It also means it will be cheaper to rent so i'll have to test them out to see if it's worth it
Not really a secret. Does it come with Pl and EF or E mounts? Talked a little too fast to understand... And I'm not seeing any info on the product page saying it's included with the lens - is it perhaps sold separately?

I do own some Arles primes, and my own opinion on these - extremely capable for the price, but still rather far away from Arri UP or Cooke lenses in terms of image quality, and build quality. When anyone says that those things are good build quality - I wonder how many of those actually dug into the lens. To understand the build quality of a cinema lens one has to understand what's under the cover. Judging the anodizing quality is rather silly statement of mechanical operation quality. I haven't dug into the Arles, but soon I will - to change the ft scale to a meter one (besides anyone has found a manual from DZO on this subject? They claim it, but no manual exists), then will see how much of a surprise it will be. Speaking of their previous lenses - Vespids, they aren't good inside at all, have some really easy to crack parts inside (like the iris ring parts), so I suppose this ones will have something similar. Also, the glass itself - the look of those is a tad weird. It's not clean, like a lot of people are saying. Yes, they have less abberations than Vespids do, but Arles still have some of those and at 1.4 they are loosing a lot of contrast. They are sharp, but not edge to edge sharp, have some distortions, and from what I see in this video - I'm not gonna change my Laowa 12mm to 14mm Arles. Out of focus rendition of this one is like lens has lost it's calibration or a piece of glass somewhere in the lens isn't in its proper position. Overall it's the only set of lenses under 3k per lens that I was eager to buy, but they have their grain of salt, especially coming from a Arri UP or Cooke S4i user experience. I'm curious to compare those to Sony SCL (v2) set of lenses, because they have a pretty similar price tag per lens.

Yep and it's clear these are on the same build quality level as Zeiss Supreme Prime and Cooke S8i Lenses when you shoot wide open it's still tac sharp. That's a dead give away that there the next level 😊
The lenses are so inconsistent. The different focal length do not have the same colours and sharpness. What is the point in a prime kit not delivering what they should do ?
Its Arle. The "s" is muted, like in the French city. If you want to get anal with it : pronounce the A like in Halogen, without the H. And the "rle" like the "rl" in pearl ;)

Agreed! Sorry if we weren't super clear about it all, but we were really putting these up against lenses that we use often, the Supreme prime. That's the main comparison, it's relative to that. I understand these might not be the most affordable lens for most. Appreciate the feedback
@@TenfoldProduction i would call the Irix or Xeens Budget, but 3k per prime seems pretty midrange for me, more in the region of zeiss cps or canon cn, but i dont think anyone would call them budget. if you only work with leica summiluxes or zeiss supremes on set i guess it would be more "budget friendly" but most of people dont
Actually solid points here! Sometimes we fall for the trap of what we're comparing too, and to the general audience, this is probably a bit out of range as budget (can almost buy an fx3 at this price haha). In comparison to what we think the lens performs and looks like (the Supreme primes), we do think it's a pretty budget version of that (if that makes sense). And we appreciate the open convo without insulting us haha, it means alot!
lol I promise they rippin all yall off with these "cine" lens 😅. the normal consumer cant even tell the difference when they are watching a show. you cld have a real production staff/ colorist shoot with a photo lens and they never notice.

Would love a set of these. Currently rocking the Catta Zooms. Those have been great for our production.
They would def blend nicely with some Catta's (also a fun lens). Different style of shooting, but both solid!

Any lens with Full Frame coverage will also cover S35.
