One parenting tip (from a social worker who worked with sexual offenders and the SA survivors): Instead of telling your child that you would kill anyone that touches them, tell them that you will listen to them and believe them, and help them in anyway they need.
So many survivors say that they couldn't tell their parents, because they knew their Dad would have killed the offender and Dad would have ended up in jail and left them and their family completely alone and even more vulnerable.
Also, sometimes the sexual assaulter is a family member or an ex, whom the survivor loved, before the assault. And while they want that person punished and/or helped and held accountable and possibly kept away, they don't want them dead. So they are afraid to share with their parents, if they think the parents will do something drastic.
So please tell your kids, that you will listen to them, believe them, and stay with them, so you can protect them and so you can teach them how to protect themselves❤

As a 38 yo woman, I can vividly remember being stared at starting at the age of like 11? My insecure self thought it was endearing until I became an adult and could now puke. It's shocking and a lot of people don't understand that is very common for women, sickening.
Yes! Im a 45 year old white woman. I noticed the male attention at about 11/12 when I started getting boobs. Every woman has a story.
She's right about this not being uncommon. I can totally relate and hopefully now be a better parent because of it. Thanks for sharing with us!

Oh Tina…I’m crying with you at the end. Especially being clean myself for almost 11 years, I get it. It was horrible, made absolutely horrible choices, have so much guilt, blah blah blah. But it’s worked out (thankfully) & here we are on the other side. But I’ve never seen you get emotional, over anything & that immediately made me cry right along with you. I know y’all don’t know any of us. But the impact you & the rest of the crew has on sooo many people is truly amazing. It’s a friendship in a way bc yall are so open & honest & that’s so refreshing with all the bull shit in the world. Anyways, all the loves to you. ✌🏽♥️🌱🍄

Her story is so similar to mine, I had a baby at 14, but both my parents were addicts and had no guidance. I was bullied and labeled a whore and was raped at a party at 15 because I was the whore in my town and couldn't tell anyone I found opiates and it made it all go away until I got clean at 27. Hearing her story brings back a lot of those memories of mean girls and bullies who fucked my childhood up. I smoked meth and did acid though
