  • The series MEET THE CHARACTERS is especially for new viewers who are unfamiliar with the individuals who are featured in the monthly updates.
    In this installment we are focussing on the Nkuhuma pride who is one of the oldest prides in Sabi Sand. We talk about the individuals and their relationships to one another, as well as the coalitions who shape their future.

    I really liked the BDMS males when they arrived and settled in the north, I was happy, they were beautiful and young, that encounter with s8 on wildeart live was an epic encounter, and nkuhuma females had already accepted them, preferring to hang out with them rather than with kambulas It was very unlucky that the youngest BDM was injured like that, he looked like he was going to die and was missing for a long time, everyone thought he had died and then he showed up but his brother had already let him know sand, nowadays he's better but he's not 100%

    Great video! The Nkahuma pride sure has had it hard. I hope the PCM don't claim them. They are already spread out and can't protect their cubs. I hope the Kambula boys start acting like a brotherhood and take over the pride. Thank you as always for the great video!!

    Hi I wanted to ask or make a recommendation. The Mahangeni pride? Could that be one of your introduction videos? The Birmingham daughter is daughter to older Mahangeni lionesses May they rest? I think Styxt pride or Mahangeni introduction would be good. Knowing mothers of lionesses, lions. I also wonder if Styxt lionesses are still four young lionesses and Styxt Birmingham daughter and if they are together?
    I wonder what has been going on in the south. Tiyelele was with two Kambula male lions.

    Hi I like the video. I wanted to say good video. One relative of Nkuhuma lions was not talked about. Nkuhuma jr. And son. Orphen male lion similar to cousins, Ridgenose sons.

    • @allaboutthelionsofsabisand2743
      @allaboutthelionsofsabisand2743  12 днів тому +2

      This format is supposed to cover only the Nkuhuma family members who are still alive. Yes, the Orpen male is a descendant of the Nkuhumas, which will be talked about in a introduction video of the Mbiri pride.

      Hi I really enjoy your videos. New lovely people, fan love learning family’s of lion. I do enjoy learning of lions family, relative and how they are doing. There was a comment on the Orphen male lion jr; related to Nukhuma male lions. I love learning relatives and story knowing more about them.
      Honestly I made a comment how Orphen jr. was similar to nuhkuma male lions sons of Rodge nose. Nkuhuma jr. must be litter relatives. There was a comment to the comment; they were not related. In the comment I was not trying to talk about the history, but how Orphen male lion jr was similar to Nukhuma male lion Avoca son.

    The Young Nkuhuma male should definitely align with the Nkuhuma breakaway male or even the Styx male. His sister should try to join either the Tsalala lioness or the Lone Kambula lioness or even the Othawa lionesses as they're of almost similar age.

      kambula lioness is the most sensible cause their fathers are already trying to push them out and othwa and tsala are in their control

    Thanks for the nice video. I thought the southern avoca and Kruger male injured the 1 kambula male. Who was it now?

    • @allaboutthelionsofsabisand2743
      @allaboutthelionsofsabisand2743  12 днів тому +1

      It could be anyone, Kruger and Southern Avoca as well as the Mantimahle males.. Nobody witnessed the encounter.
      K4 got injured around Nov 13, when the Mantimahle were in the area as well. I have not seen any reports yet that point to the Kruger and Southern Avoca being the more likely culprits.

  • @paladinminipedro707

    Very good video. Nkahuma pride just can't keep a male around and the way things are in Sabi Sand I see why. Would these lionesses be better off going to Kruger or is that park too sketchy to do so?

    • @allaboutthelionsofsabisand2743
      @allaboutthelionsofsabisand2743  9 днів тому

      At times they move into Manyeleti, sometimes also crossing into Kruger. The southern parts of Manyeleti though has a big problem with poachers. The area is riddled with snares to catch general game, which is a huge danger to all predators too.

    My, opinion does it really matter who is whom. We all know that lionesses mate with nany males to confused, the lions, to have them to think it is there cubs, rather there cubs be killed by them. It is a great strategy on there behalf. Bdm is the pride males ,again with the nukuluma Pride. But we must sit and relaxed. We will see who control them

    I don't think it's known who the individual mothers of the 2021 Nkuhumas are. By the time we saw them, the 3 litters were joined into one and allo-suckling from all mothers. Where does the information in the lineage chart come from?

    • @auntiez4917
      @auntiez4917 12 днів тому

      Good question on the lineage chart. I think it's a guess as to who the mothers are to the 2021 subs 🤷🏽‍♀🤷🏽‍♀. I've heard others say that they believe the boy belongs to Pale Eyes. There were 3 boys born in 2021; though; so not sure how it is known which boy survived.

      @@auntiez4917A lot of the information on moms and even dads are just fan speculation not based on any real research. There’s a famous nomadic lion that joined up S8’s two sons that everyone confidently calls S8’s son even though there’s definite, verifiable proof that he’s not (he was already a dispersed male when S8 took over his first pride). You really have be careful about what you read online

    • @allaboutthelionsofsabisand2743
      @allaboutthelionsofsabisand2743  12 днів тому +1

      the chart does`nt say which subadult belongs to which mother, that is because we don't know. I do think though it's highly likely that each mother has 1 surviving subadult due to the fact that none of the lionesses mated after they lost 3 subadults in early 2023. The gender spread on the chart is based on observation, comments from rangers and guess work.

    Hi there! I contribute to a community on Explore, a network of live cams that includes the Africam cameras. I also use PowerPoint to make maps and charts of the lions we see on the cams. Is there a way I can get in touch with you to update my charts? Thanks for what you do!
