testing out the new north star steam cleaner add on unit from nothern tool steamer unit amzn.to/2Fmtz82 50ft hose amzn.to/2GpSDfS 100ft hoseamzn.to/2GnXDRS
I've been using the same HotBox unit for 4 years now and never had a problem running it on diesel whatsoever. It definitely is a game changer, I keep two of the exact same pressure washer side by side. If one goes down on me quick connect to the other one and I'm back up and running very quickly. These little hot box units are built fairly well. I use descaler and run it through my coil once a year.
I've been using this for years. There is nothing that works better than hot water. These machines are amazing and you be surprised All the uses this machine can be used for you. Don't realize it until you have it
I've been looking at this unit for a couple of years now. Thank you, you're the first person that I've seen operate one. I never understood with all of the good ratings, why no one ever posted a detailed video of usage, not even the company. They have a video of it but it only show a minute bof usage if that, not helpful & I didn't know if it was steam or hot water. Again, thank you!
Great video thank you so much for demonstrating the unit good lesson learned about cold water lines and I'm glad you didn't get injured I do commercial trailer washout and wanted to upgrade my game from cold water to hot water I think this unit will work perfectly for what I have to do thank you so much again for giving an honest review
I would pick most the crud off with an extended scraper tool, spray everything with a foam cannon let sit. The pressure wash. Makes for less spray time.... I hate getting wet as well! Just got mine today😁
You have your quick connect fittings on backwards. They should be set up so that when you pull on your hose there is no chance of your connector getting caught on something and coming undone.
very good units if taken care of and treated right. orings will break but that's nonavoidable with using the Hott water. very easy to replace always keep extra Orings on hand.
I don’t ever swap out the tips on mine. I always use the flat pattern tip that’s about as wide as my hand but I unscrew the quick couplers and bought me a tip that has 1/4” threads on it and screwed it into the end of the wand and that way I never have to worry about changing o’rings all of the time
I just bought this unit for doing truck like this but was concerned about how hot I could actually go up to for maximum efficiency of heavy oil build up
How did you get it over 120 degrees? Those things have a lot of safeties built in so they don't burn the end user's skin. You need about 300+ for steam. This is of course just hot water but 200-220 does a helluva job on grime.
@@LifeWithChase not really, looking in my "back issues" of Northern Tool catalogs, in the 2010 fall/winter catalog, the price for the add-on pressure washer water heater, item number 157495-1101, the same unit as pictured here, for at least identical specifications and looking identical, the price was $1499.99, so I wouldn't exactly say they were cheaper, accept by maybe $200, it depending on where you live with taxes, that's approximately $100 in taxes total on the whole unit, so in 9 years the price hasn't really changed much at all. Depending on if there is sale pricing or not, that is.
The not reading instructions until you realize you messed up had me laughing, then pouring diesel in it, on it and around it for good measure.. Hilarious. I'm curious how much you have used this since you bought it and whether or not you think it was a good buy? I've heard mixed reviews on Norther Tool but I've learned you are far more likely to find negative information on products online as people that are happy with something tend to just use it and be content while unhappy people almost always leave negative reviews.
I have had 1 hose and 1 fitting blow out of me in 10years. Each time i heard a weird noise right as it happened and ran like a biznach. Could get some nasty burns.
Haha I got you beat, I picked up mine the guy maybe used it a few dozen times at the most, got it for $450 !!!, after I called the guy to set up a time to pick it up, he had a couple people contact him, willing to pay a few hundred more $ for it
Yep, I figured out orings in fittings don't last as long above that and it uses a lot of fuel. I will occasionally turn it hotter if I'm trying to remove paint or decals etc.
Get an st-8 flow switch that will trigger at .5 per minute flow so when you key your carpet wand it will fire up the burner. Replace the flow switch that comes with the burner (the pressure switch that he shows in the video).
U NEVER LET YOUR POWER WASHER RUN WIDE OPEN AND LAY YOUR GUN DOWN !!! IT Ruins the power washer pump I'm sure you've replaced yours as long as it sat there and run wide open why you were talking not spraying Even a unloader valve recycles the same water and overheats and Burns the pump up after about a minute !! Max time off is about 30 seconds hope this saves someone's pump they shouldn't even come with a trigger either on when running or off when it cuts off !! That's what I did with my power washer took the trigger off and I've never had a problem sense or zip tye the handle!!!
I got this Heather almost 2 years ago but since day one never works right you never can count on it to work its worse machine I ever bought don't waste your money and time.

dam just what i need so glad i found your channel my man, can you make a video showing all the hook up process?
Another 5 thumbs-up video....and great setup on the blow out shot (methinks u knew it would happen)...good way to deliver the advice.
That hose is a jumper hose. That female end is correct...you would normally connect the jumper hose to the hose reel. ... jumper hose to jetter hose..
a trick: you can watch series at Flixzone. Me and my gf have been using them for watching loads of movies lately.
Wow good to know about the hose. So when I purchase a hotbox I'm gonna get 150ft hot water hose!
The black switch you were talking about is a FLOW switch, not a pressure switch. It only reads flow and will still activate burner at any pressure.
Flawless review my friend! Going to buy one just like it but had to check out the review and yes best price and quality for just what I need.
How is it?
I would pick most the crud off with an extended scraper tool, spray everything with a foam cannon let sit. The pressure wash. Makes for less spray time.... I hate getting wet as well! Just got mine today😁
Another great video! It cut the grime better than I thought it would, without chemicals. Thanks!
Im going to go get mines ... thanks for sharing

Did the pressure hose just popped out ?
Do you have 4200 PSI running thru?!
Nice video Mr
Looks like hot water ?

What’s that called washing out the rear of semi trucks the service ?
I just bought this unit for doing truck like this but was concerned about how hot I could actually go up to for maximum efficiency of heavy oil build up
250 degrees
Do you use kerosene or diesel?
Great video 📹. Thank you.
Picking mine up today!!!!
A pressure washer on steroids. Nice equipment to have around.
yes it is, it works so much better than just cold water on the heavy grease
@@LifeWithChase good to remouve paint in the bricks ????? Latex paint ..2 coats ..Thank
If you are primarily cleaning rigs, you are on the right path with hot water, look into 2-stepping chemical process.
I just put a 30 gallon gas water heater bolted down to the thing and a propane bottle. Works good.

What is the run time before you run out of fuel in the tank
It depends on the temperature you have it set at. The hotter you set it burns more fuel, I've never tried to time it...
Great information, thanks
Thanks for the info
Great Video !
Do you think this can be use to remove gum off cement.
Haven't tried that but I would think so
Three years late but a hot wash is the tool for it
Might get more hits if you include the tag Northstar "Hot Link". That's what they used to call them.
Chase, iam thinking about buying one of these. How is it working out for you. Have you had any problems out of it. Is it holding up well
Still working no problems yet
Pretty scary how some people just don't stop and think before they do things.
Great video.. thanks
Hey man 3 years later does it still work??
Yep.
Good alternative than buying a steam cleaning machine! Wish they'd drop the price though ;)
I think they used to be cheaper like 5 years ago lol

@@turtmastert3545 Well now that I'm looking in 2022 they're up to $1999. Inflation sucks

thumbs up!

I use it every couple months or so probably, haven't had any issues with it yet.
👍👍💯
I have had mine for 2 years and never have used it really
Want to sale
Yes

I know how to hook up and turn it into a carpet cleaner
This will work for a portable carpet cleaning extractor?

Anybody else notice the pressure washer running inside no open air big shop fan not running be careful I hope off frame you had ventilation
Had door open and shop has vented ridge cap.
THIS IS NOT A "STEAM CLEANER" !!!
It is a HOT pressure washer!
It goes to 250 degrees. What do you call water at 250 degrees?
@@LifeWithChase It's still liquid water. A small amount turns to steam when it exits the tip, but still 90% water.
Steam 🤣!
