If you want to avoid expensive shipping due to us living in Australia, here is a little work around on Amazon (can do the same on ebay using www.ebay.com.au) which some people have used and made it a lot more affordable. We just wanted to share this with those who this may concern.
    1. Go to top right of Amazon homepage where it has your country flag and language showing
    2. Click change country/region on dropdown menu
    3. Change country to Australia
    4. Amazon page will change all products to those in Australian warehouses. Put items in cart, send to S&P PO box address as you normally would. Should be minimal shipping because its shipping from within Australia

@@fakecubed Actually I believe this is part of why the writers had so much freedom writing, they didn't care much about the ride itself, they just wanted to tell the best pirates story they could ever come up with and the entire crew had a ton of fun bringing it all to life.
Truly a great example of what total creative freedom looks like on screen and why current Disney live-action movies aren't as successful nowadays: they became narratively restricted.

    • @fakecubed
      @fakecubed 23 дні тому +1

@@tarikhamou6222 Agreed. Narratively restricted, and also over-managed. A modern Disney film, they don’t hire a director to carry out his vision, they cast a director, based on intrinsic demographic features to check off some DEI/ESG boxes, then the studio has a bunch of other people in the Disney machine do all the work while the director is practically irrelevant. Somebody else handles all the action scenes. Somebody else handles all the special effects designs, somebody else handles all the costumes and sets and whatever else. In the end, the director is basically just there to yell “action” (when they’re told to) for a portion of the filming, and then they’re shuffled off while the Disney machine does all the post-production and reshoots. Meanwhile the script isn’t finished, that happens after editing, reshoots, and re-editing.

An interesting theory I read before (don't remember the guy who wrote it) mentioned that the reason why Jack Sparrow moves the way he does is because he has "Permanent Sea Footwork", this means that he walks perfectly on a boat, and waves/unbalancing does NOT affect him, which makes him a very difficult enemy to beat at sea, but the side-effect of this sea-footwork is that whenever he is on land, the lack of "unbalanced wavy ground" makes him feel uncomfort and his feet end up not landing well, which makes him walk in a drunken-like way. To confirm this, you can compare how Jack moves magnanimously when he is sailing on a ship, while his movements become wiggly whenever he is on land in the films. Cheers!!

You can tell just by listening to him in the movie. Do you really think Disney would have fired him from a leading role like that without serious reason to do so?
Also, please understand that I am not an Amber Heard defender. She is clearly a terrible person who made Depp's life absolutely miserable. 12:34 Darn I just realized:
Norrington said one good deed does not rectify for a lifetime of wickedness
Jack interjects enough to condem him.
Jack's backstory didnt make it to the final cut of all the films but what got him branded a pirate was when he freed a hundred slaves he was ordered to transport. Since slaves were considered property what Jack did was called piracy

His other work includes the lightsaber fights of the original Star Wars Trilogy and the extended duel between Inigo and Westley in "The Princess Bride". He called Viggo Mortensen the most natural sowrdsman he ever trained.

You should very seriously consider watching the TV series Black Sails. It's a bit like Game of Thrones, but pirates. Very complex characters, a mix of historical and fictional pirates from the golden age of piracy in the Caribbean, as they plot and scheme to deal with the possible impending crackdown from either Spain or England, and one captain risks everything in the hopes of winning a prize so large that would upset the very nature of their world.
It's not a well known show, it was on a fairly obscure premium cable channel back when it first aired. So not a lot of people know about it. But it's one of the best series I've ever watched. High stakes drama, plenty of humor, some awesome pirate action, but also a lot of serious dialogue between incredible actors. It's a show that got me to read philosophy again, and become a lot more knowledgeable about the early 1700s.

Some people look at it as a triology because 4 and 5 are not as good as 1-3 and Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley are not in them and, while they're definitely missed, I still feel like Jack is the MAIN main character. It may be an unpopular opinion but I personally enjoy both so I always tell people to watch them and decide for themselves. People can just skip those reactions.
    Fun facts:
The films are based on Walt Disney's ride of the same name.
There is an after credits scene in all of the films, though not all of them are that important to the story.
The role of Captain Jack Sparrow was originally written for Hugh Jackman but he was not that well known outside of Australia at the time so Disney cast Johnny Depp instead, who was more known.
Johnny Depp based the character on Keith Richards from The Rolling Stones (who appears in the third film). Depp also improvised Jack's catch phrase "Savvy?" and "Bring me that horizon".
Jack's “drunk walk” is actually the result of his "sea legs". When he's on land his walk is unbalanced, while at sea he walks straight. That is because he spends more time at sea than on land.
If you haven't seen them, other Johnny Depp films I recommend are A Nightmare on Elm Street (his first film), Cry Baby, What's Eating Gilbert Grape, Sleepy Hollow, Chocolat, Finding Neverland, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Corpse Bride, Sweeney Todd and Alice in Wonderland. Speaking of Edward Scissorhands, it reminds me of she-who-must-not-be-named's comment in an interview after the trial that "he made everyone believe he had scissors for fingers" 🤣

A Depp movie Spartan might be into is Donnie Brasco with Al Pacino. Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas is another iconic role you might enjoy. He had smaller parts in Nightmare On Elm Street and Platoon early in his career. One of my personal favorites is the comedy Don Juan DeMarco with Marlon Brando. There's also all the goth flicks; Edward Scissor Hands, Sleepy Hollow, From Hell. And the Stephen King movie, Secret Window. And a lesser known supernatural thriller that was kind of an Omen type thing, Ninth Gate. Say what you want about Johnny Depp, it's always interesting.

21:59 No, that's the great thing about Norrington, he _doesn't_ only want Elizabeth for her status or her beauty. He genuinely cares about her. That's what I like about him and Governor Swann - they value her happiness above their own.
43:32 He can't be dead, he's cursed like them. He wouldn't have died until the curse was lifted at the end of the movie. He spent a decade at the bottom of the ocean, unable to die.

Jack Sparrow's trick of using an inverted dingy to walk under water while breathing the air trapped in the hull I first saw in the movie "The Crimson Pirate" (1952) starring Burt Lancaster. Prior to WWII, Burt Lancaster was a "flyer" in the circus, i.e., trapeze, high wire, etc. After the war he went into acting & did all of his own stunts. Check out his many movies as he was the action star of the 50's. All kinds of "swashbuckler" movies!

The pirates mentioned as the creators of the Pirate's Code actually existed, Captain Bartholomew "Black Bart" Roberts; a navigator who got pirated, was offered to join said attackers, did so, became Captain, and soon wrote his name into history in bloody letters as the single most successful pirate to ever sail the sea by raiding several hundreds of ships (postly the Portuguese navy) within only a few years. Averaging 3.7 ships pillaged per week, sometimes multiple ships in the middle of military convoys. Only pirate I've ever heard of that did not drink alcohol and hated it enough that the smell would make him queasy. Captain Hook and many of the "Gentleman Pirate" archetypes were based off Roberts, he dressed and spoke very finely, was highly educated, and trained professionally in fencing.
The other was no less than Governor/Commodore/Admiral/Captain Henry Morgan whom was the most powerful and influential pirate/privateer/politician (in that order) of all time with hundreds of ships at his command, thousands of buckeneers ready to fight/kill/die at his call, and managed to leverage his way from most wanted to the British Crown's most able privateer as well as the governor of Jamaica. He produced most of the rum drank by sailors in the New World, was notoriously charming and generous to his men, and had a fashion sense that marked him as the Rick James for the Golden Age of Piracy with the same charisma where you should hate him yet he's the best friend you've had.
Anyone stupid enough to anger either of them faced a fate that made hanging a pleasant afternoon and lifetime imprisonment a sweet way of life. They succeeded and were so fearsome due to their rules, their codes of honor which was enforced throughout their crews. Roberts would be crueler in making examples and more imaginative, but Morgan had the money and time to really invest in making a statement with anyone that broke the code he sat down. Traditionally, a black spot was delivered to the code-breaker; the promise of certain death wished upon you by every pirate present. In Morgan's case, all pirates would target one whom he had a black spot delivered to. For Roberts, no one would shelter you and would sell you out for a piece of eight; no harbor, no port, no berth would grant you safe passage. Think John Wick's "Excommunicado" scene set in the 1600's. The Black Spot was usually delivered on a single piece of blank paper and to see it meant either your butt or the death of a dozen men, at least (the crew targeting you). Later, individual crews of pirates would practice the tradition of the Black Spot started by these two and obey the Pirate's Code which was just the two men's rules for their subordinates all added together.
