Dayum I have this camera, but don't use it much now.. after the trend of short videos, reels etc started... now i am thinking of taking pictures again... i forgot the value of this camera

Was just thinking about this camera the other day too, and then this video popped up. I used the G7X MKii for a couple of years as a vlog camera in an old work role. Loved it for video + vlogging, the photo capabilities were super nice too. Would I consider it for video / UA-cam in 2024, probably not, but for straight up point n shoot statics, it's lovely. Great build quality too. Thanks!

Got mine 6 months back and I'm impressed! Great point and shoot with a f1.8 but gotta sacrifice the zoom range on this but still my daily driver🔥

I am very much an amateur photographer and my only camera is a Sony a6000. this reminds me of that from my limited camera knowledge. i believe mine ran for $650 when i got it? somewhere around there. i like it a lot but it is not good in low light conditions. definitely my biggest complaint. very grateful for it though and i still have fun with it

@@GillianNS the best thing to do is go to bhphoto.com and get a stock alert, find the canon g7x mark ii & then enter your email to get an alert when it’s back in stock.
This is the best way, but you have to hop on that alert asap. They usually sell out in a few hours when they’re in stock. If you do a stock alert, you might have 3-6 weeks. That’s the best way.
Is this camera still available? I am hoping to get my hands one as it seems to be out of stock on Best Buy or discontinued at this point?!
I would check near your location, every city is different. A good place to get an alert the moment they are in stock again is from bhphoto.com - you can get an email notification as soon as they’re available again.
I’d check your nearby Best Buy locations… but if you want one faster, see if there are any used cameras for sale near you.
The people selling it and buying it for $1k are absolute morons. For an 8 year old camera that does 1080p, it's worth $300 max. Even on canons website it's still $700 which is WILDLY overpriced for MSRP. You can get a Sony zv-1f for $500 brand new and does 4k. Why spend more for a worse camera. I absolutely don't understand the hype around the g7x...maybe back in like 2019 sure, but 8 years after it's released...? Nah. Better cheaper options now
why not just buy an sony rx100?
Sony has better AF for video but canon has better lense and much cheaper
I like the comparison, but see that they're around $1200 - not sure if I'd spend that much money for a Sony point & shoot.
