Great video and thanks for digging into the details. I bought it last week and had a few questions which your video answered. One thing you talked about is the wireless game controller, and was specifically talking about Cross Road. I connected a knock-off PS4 controller that works great with the Android UI (joystick up/down/left/right to select icons) but in Crossy Road the only button that worked was the one to jump forward--I noticed in your video you didn't move left/right. The joystick does not control left/right (neither joystick or buttons do). Did you encounter the same thing? I tried Angry Birds 2 as well and there's no joystick support. Finding few popular games which do.
It might be the controller if it's a knock off the buttons might not be sending the controls that some games have been programmed to recognise. The BT remotes with dpads usually work fine. Some don’t work with the analogue sticks and you need to use the dpad instead.
Hi, I have just bought a carlinkit tbox plus 8g/128gb and i try to connect to my hyundai i30 (2023) but nothing happened. Hello Sir, in my 2021 Caddy ESV I just get an Ambient Carlinkit - No Content Available thats displayed when connected. Doesnt do anything from there. Also I have internet in the truck. I just get one steady Blue light and 1 flashing white light on the device. I checked the capability list and it gives the year, and the model. Am I just out of luck?
It sounds it. If your Caddy has wired CarPlay USB port and isn’t wireless CarPlay only I don’t know what the issue might be there. Especially if they list it as compatible. If you have a spare cable you could try that. Otherwise I’d reach out to support stating it isn’t working yet the list says it should do.

I have this box and I'm wondering if you have issues with the day/night mode for the OS activating. I notice it doesn't switch to night mode. apps follow the system default but if the OS isn't switching properly then the apps won't follow.
I have the older version and have the same problem- Waze kills me at night with that white background. I have to unplug the box and use wired to get night mode.
Do you mean apps running on android OS on the box or apps running through CPlay or AAuto? I know Google maps had a toggle but auto (system level) should be the default
@@CarPlayLife apps on the box itself. They follow the system default just fine but it's the system that doesn't switch automatically. For instance, I'll get into the car at 9pm but the OS hasn't swapped over to the night theme, therefore the apps won't follow. Once I toggle the OS to night, the apps will follow.

This is the remote I use amzn.to/3JBSU0U, it has to be the G10S Pro Bluetooth model and worked directly with the adapter's BT, and not operate via a connected dongle. As for controllers, you can't get any better than a gaming controller such as a Bluetooth enabled Xbox controller or PlayStation 4 or 5 controller.
I plan to buy this one, but I need more information about phone call handling. Question is the next: I connect my phone to the car via Bluetooth, and connect the AIBox via cable without SIMcard. I don't use Carplay or Android Auto between IABox and my phone. So what happened, if I use Waze on AIBox and I got or recieve a phone call. How it works, what happened? I bought this item from Amazon. It will lose WiFi connection and Waze would freeze. While driving, I had to unplug and re-plug the unit. This is far more distracting than watching video when driving. I did a firmware update but it didn't help. Too much money for something that is dangerous and distracting bugs.

None that I know of. I had two a year or so ago for review (same manufacturer, just newer models) and I couldn’t bring my review as they were just awful and underpowered. I wasted days of testing when I decided I couldn’t bring any positives out of their review. It seems the support for AA only system AI boxes are as rare as unicorn horns.
Hi, I want to know if the device is turned off when I stop the car and go away from it, Or it keeps on. I know that other devices like adapters that allow connecting to Android Auto wirelessly to car that has only wired option, like A2A carlink, keeps running and because they use Wifi to connect to the phone, If you are near the car, the phone is still connected to the wifi of the device. This devices still receive electricity from the car besides the car is off. Can you confirm if this happens with this kind of device ? Thanks
The car should eventually turn off the usb port once the car is locked. It light just not do it for a minute or more. It depends on the manufacturer and system setup it has.

It won’t work on android head units. If you have and android HU and you can install much the same apps on it, these won’t give you much advantage or extra functionality

If nothing comes up and the box is just flashing red LED then it’s likely it isn’t compatible with your system. Your options are to send it back whilst in your return window, let support know and wait for a fix from them (if at all), try it on another CarPlay system to make sure it’s not broken.
Hi, I received my T-box plus this week and can not get it to connect to my Cupra Formentor. It does not recognize the box. I have a iPhone 12 max pro. I have erased my phone from the memory of the car, removed my car from CarPlay. The only recognition I have managed so far is the T-box appears on iPhone CarPlay but when you try to connect it the egg timer just keeps spinning
So these boxes connect to the CarPlay display in the car. Not your iPhone. They are standalone boxes that work independently to your phone. You only need your phone if you wish to give it internet from a mobile hotspot connection or if you wish to use it for wireless CarPlay/AAuto
It works fine on my Highlander 2021 but my other car with a after market Bluetooth boss audio won’t let me hear anything but I can see everything can’t hear tho any help?
Ask support as it sounds like compatibility issue with that system. I am not sure if you can go into the settings section and under the adapters own settings area there are options for sound modes that you could try changing.

If you’re not getting anything when you have it plugged in and the system turned to CarPlay then that sounds like a compatibility issue with this vehicle and system. Send it back for a refund and try an alternative

I will be purchasing one of the Carlinkit AI boxes. Trying to sort out the different models. What are the performance differences of the processors? I see a few processors. QCM Octa 4-Core. QCM 2290. QCM 6125. The sellers have varying descriptions. Your videos are really the most informative. Appreciate your work.
Thanks Steve. A quick comparison search of these processors will tell you what’s what. But basically, right now, the QC665 (also known as QC6125) is the fastest chipset in these boxes. There is also a QC662 which has very similar performance, it’s more efficient so it runs cooler but it’s just a little slower on benchmarks. Between the 665 and 662 I don’t think you could tell the difference in real world use. Hope this helps.
I feel a bit dense, but where can I find the IMEI number for a SIM card activation? I've looked in the AI box and settings and found a device ID, but it does not match the format of an IMEI number.
Sometimes it’s written on the SIM or the caddy it came with if you still have that. Otherwise I am sure I’ve seen IMEI number mentioned in the SIM settings area on the adapter android OS software.
May sound a daft question, but what sort of cars does this work with? I have Toyota Auris Hybrid 2010, will it work with that it has a display. Or are these things only compatible with specific infotainment screens?
They all need Apple CarPlay to work. Seeing as CarPlay didn’t come out until 2014, your car will not have CarPlay and will not work with these adapters. This might be one for their support team. Sims in these adapters can be region specific and if you buy the wrong one for your region it might not work. So an EU version won’t work in the US for example. Is there a chance you bought or were sold an incorrect version for your region?
@@CarPlayLife Thanks for your kind concern by replying. I asked for support from Carlinkit and they sent me a video that shows how the SIM card must be inserted by using a pin. I didn't know that there was a spring to catch the SIM. After that my SIM is working properly.

Great video. I just bought the Carlinkit 4G 64 GB with android 11. I have an issue if someone can help me out. When I insert the Sim in the Box, after entering the Sim pin, the Box keeps restarting. I have 3 different boxes all have the same issue. I am able to use my 5G Sim card. Had anybody facing the same issue or can someone help me to fix the problem. Thanks from Germany.
Is there any AI Boxes out there that use your phone data, instead of haveing to connect with wifi? Like my standard adroid auto, gets data from my connected phone with bluetooth..
@@CarPlayLife understood, but that will enclude a second data plan. I ordered the CarlinKit Android 12.0 CarPlay Ai Box Plus, 4 GB+64 GB, Snapdragon QCM 6125,Support Wireless CarPlay. But if someone comes out with one that uses my phone data, I would change it out.
Good choice. Sadly I can’t see this feature ever coming out as you’ll need to connect your phone in some way to the adapter and unless it’s wired it has to use Wi-Fi to transmit the data connection and as a result it will also cancel out any possibility or using wireless CP/AA. Maybe if they had a slave wifi module, like some have for Bluetooth. I dunno.
Mine do this. I just connected my Carlinkit CPC200 Tbox plus (6GB+128GB - Android 12) into my phone's Bluetooth, and on the phone checked the option "share my data connection" and worked... Now I'm getting internet though the Bluetooth connection. The bad thing is that the connection speed is a quite slow, something between 200-500kbps.
Superb video! I just got the T-Box Plus and all working. I wish you could rearrange the icons while in Apple CarPlay like you can when on the Android Home screen. Also you can't select a car icon to any make of car in Apple CarPlay like you can in previous versions of AutoKit. Perhaps an update of the AutoKit apk would fix both issues?
You can rearrange the icons like normal wired CarPlay in the settings > general > CarPlay section. Then drag or hide apps you want to order or hide. Or maybe it’s been a while since I looked. I’m not sure if this is already running the latest or not. 🤔
Thanks for the reply Anthony! On my set up ( iPhone 12 Pro, Range Rover Sport ) the T-Box Plus will only allow the CarPlay icons to be shuffled when connected with a fire wire. Soon as I try the moves wirelessly, nothing happens. Tried getting the settings I wanted with the wire connection first, but then they go back to some default when wirelessly connected to the T-Box! Not sure what's up with that. When you reviewed the T-Box Mini, your video showed a "CarPlay Icon menu" that you set to VW. That's missing on the T-Box Plus so I can't change the icon. Oddly, in the wired set up the same icon is already labelled with the car make. Is this feature available in another version? Thanks for your all work and tips on this channel!!
Hi Anthony. Newbie to Ai boxes here. Do all the AI boxes keep the native Bluetooth connection to my phone or does the ai box connect directly to my phone via Bluetooth. Trying to figure out what's happens for voice commands sent through the native voice system. (Car 2021 Subaru Outback)
It depends on the setup. If you’re not using the adapter for wireless CP/AA (which needs BT) you can have your phone paired to the car system over BT and have the adapter connected and sending its software and apps to your CarPlay display. Voice commands to your car system shouldn’t be interrupted and should continue to work independently to this adapter and it’s system software.
Been watching a v few of these videos, but hard to find an adapter that has the most important feature for me and my wife. Do you have a suggestion on which adapter is the easiest to switch between phones? My wife and I share a car, and the key feature is to have an adapter that we can just start up and choose the phone we want to without turning off bluetooth/wifi on our phones.
Most AI Boxes for CarPlay/AAuto connections through an Android software app. Most of these are very basic and multi device support is very absent. The best route for that is a wireless adapter that connects to devices at a software on chip level. Like the U2air Pro from Ottocast with its hardware disconnect button or better, the CarlinKit 3.0 (iPhone only) 4.0/5.0 (iPhone and Android) where you can turn off auto connect and have a menu you can select the device you want to connect from. BUT you still make have to play with BT connection page on each device as without dual BT model in these things if one connects the other might not be able to.
@@CarPlayLife u mean to say my car should have wired carplay for this device to work. Or a normal touch screen head unit with a USB can be converted into carplay
I said this because CarPlay only came out in 2014 and any car older or up to 2018 will likely have wired CarPlay enabled on their system. So yes, you do need wired CarPlay for any adapter like these to work with it. Having touch screen and usb just isn’t enough.
The Google assistant on the adapter itself? It feels like normal but that will vary on the internet connection speed to understand and also request what you’re asking it

And how would one go about installing it on the T-Box? :) Also read that somewhere in settings you can adjust 30fps to 60fps.. But i havent dug into the settings that deep yet.. Maybe its somewhere in the ip 192.168 menu..
A few makers have claimed that their android 11 box will be upgradable to Android 12. Other than app compatibility and security there isn’t much change in going to Android 12 in my experience. Adapters running 12 really aren’t that different. Is it true? Personally I don’t see that happening. They will certainly not enforce the update as I can see they will run into all kinds of trouble with failed updates bricking AI boxes, just like firmware updates do on wireless adapters. They just don’t want that hassle. So I can see it will be a file on a website than something downloadable OTA. We shall see. Personally I think these makers would rather release an updated model with 12 on than push out an update. If the Plus can be switched to 60fps I would 100% try it if I knew how. I don’t think these boxes have an IP config menu. It’s set at the root OS level so if it’s anywhere it will be on the factory settings. I’ll try and see if I can dig that out. If anyone knows how already, let me know.
I connected this piece to the Pioneer 3800 screen and it works well... but I have a problem. The piece works well with the mobile SIM card and works well with the hot spot from an Android phone, but when I try to connect it to the hot spot from an iPhone, this message appears (IP configuration failure). Are there any suggestions to connect it to the iPhone hot spot?
great video..got one but autikit app crashes when trying wireless carplay or android auto. Google assistant does not respond to voice commands. can't play car FM radio when this device is connected. car dash board controls doesn't work and the list goes on. have you seen any such issues. the support could not fix any of these issues for the last 30 days
I think its very car specific. My recommendation for everyone on the fence with these things is to buy it from amazon with free returns. If it doesn't live up to your expectations then just return it, no point in trying to "fix" it.

Just got this today and i have a issue.been working 10 min ok and while i was doing the setup suddenly disconected and went in a not bootable mode.green and blue light static all the time .car dont recognise the box at all.tried to conect my phone with wired android and is working ok.But when i plug in the box is just not booting up anymore.any advice?
If it worked the first time and then not at all, if it was after it’s first reboot it could be that it chose an incompatible resolution. Those lights seem to be it’s usual operational lights. So if nothing is coming up on screen as it did before, then that sounds like a faulty device or an incompatibility issue. See if you can try it on another vehicle to reset its resolution and try again on yours if it dorks again. If it fails again send it back as faulty if you can.

Does your Lexus still have wired CarPlay though? Most cars that have CarPlay have touch screens to interact with them apart from BMW and Audi and maybe Mercedes where dash mounted screens were too far away to touch them. Maybe yours is similar?
@CarPlay Life YES.... that is exactly correct, the screen is embeded in the dash to far to reach..... and my vehicle is equiped with apple carplay. I payed the Lexus Dealership to install on my vehicle so that I can utilize an android dongle.
Can you talk a bit more about the extra storage. will it play my music showing the album cover? I don't want to play music from my phone but directly from the Carplay unit
Sorry. I’ve not done music files with album art since the WinAmp days. I would expect this should support it if you give it the relevant files. Just load them onto the storage via SD card making sure all album art files are also copied across. You might then have to download a different music player that can work with these files if the stock player doesn’t work with them.

Have other app for Carplay Connection ? Its looking 15fps for me... I have Carlinkit 4.0 and T-BOX Plus, and the Carlinkit 4.0 reaches 60fps, but even with stock settings the music have cuts sometimes, this does not happen in tbox, audio is perfect, but 15fps hurts.
A dedicated wireless adapter is always going to perform better (connection and config wise) than an AI Box. One is on chip, the other is doing it through software (app). I assume you’re using android device with this, not iPhone. The plus feels more laggy on android auto than on CarPlay. You could try installing other apps like zlink but they would need registering and I’ve never been that successful
Mini disc? This isn’t the 90s 😂 jk Yes you need a SIM if you want to use internet for android apps as well as using wireless CP/AA. Otherwise you can get away with using a hotspot from your phone or a separate Wi-Fi connection such as car Wi-Fi or a MiFi device.
I've had some software issues with this box (mainly, Verizon SIM card works great only if I manually set "LTE Only" every reboot). It looks like they've just released, 2 months later, a new "TBox Ultra" that's the exact same hardware but running a newer OS built on Android 12. Does anyone know anything about potentially upgrading this box to that more recent firmware?
I’ve had the Max for months but I’ve not been able to bring my review because i have always hit a wall with new issues. They are sending out a new adapter because it might have been that my adapter was one of the first off the production line.
This thing is a piece of junk. Stopped working for me after 1 day of use and never worked the way it was supposed to. Every time it was turned on and off all my settings were reset. Eventually it just stopped coming up. I think that might have been because of the really crappy cables they included. Lose a $200 sale by saving $1 on a cable.
Nope. I guess it’s a OS, RAM and ROM spec bump, not much more with same cpu and gpu. So better multitasking and storage space and a more robust and app friendly OS

Do you think we are close to getting a box that doesn’t have delays with CarPlay, whilst still being able to use android apps like UA-cam? Or is it always going to be a system limitation?
They would have to put in much faster WiFi chips and move from WiFi5 to WiFi6 speed chips to reduce lag or delay in wireless CP or AA. But to do that the cost to produce would increase a lot and not many would capitalise on it with a phone that doesn’t support wifi6 bandwidth. So it’s likely we will be waiting a while for that to happen 😞 Transistions between wireless CP/AA and android apps is best avoided via a SIM in the adapter or waiting for an adapter that has dual wifi modules to carry multiple connections.
@@CarPlayLife Thanks for the detailed response. Yep I already have a Sim in my Apple Pie mini box and it works well for most of the android apps, however I find the CarPlay interface superior for most apps, its just terrible with the delay.

@@CarPlayLife I'm interested in the native setting of the system (not AA). I have a previous model w/android 9, using it with a different launcher (Nova), and related to the android version (and features, like native dark mode), other apps can adapt the system dark mode (if the system have it). Also, android 11 have native split screen, and if this is adopted in this device, I suppose the split screen is better than in android 9, as in A11 you can resize the windows of the split apps... Long story short, I'm interested if the device has a full android 11, or is an adapted version and only by testing one can know what features are implemented or not 😊 However, many thanks for the patience and response!
Ah yes that would help ☺️ Full screen? This depends on the car system. If you run CarPlay and it’s full screen on that then this is an issue with the adapter and it’s software. Only an update with a fix would solve that. If it’s not full screen in CarPlay then it will be the same with this adapter. It can’t take over more than what CarPlay display can take over.

you can not run the internet for video streaming apps AND wireless carplay or android auto at the same time when using Wi-fi for both. The only way around this is inserting a SIM card for video streaming apps

@@Firstname-ms5zn make sure the date and time is correct on the adapter. Check the connection of internet with Speedtest.net in the browser of the adapter
Great video i'm more into CarlinKit devices never had issue with them. But talking about issues any idea or tip how to connect the bluetooth remote with these ai boxes? I tired holding the power bottom in remote itself for pairing but never showed in ai box.
I don't know if you have the same remote as the one in this video. For that one, I hold down the OK and Home buttons down to initiate the pairing process and it showed up on the adapter BT settings menu. Tap connect to pair them. Some adapters don't have dual Bluetooth, so pairing would be impossible on those.
Anybody else having problems when using navigation and listening to music on Spotify. I get a strange mono (phone call) sound. There is an option to disable navigation recording but i cant seem to turn it off. It stays blue
If you have this problem just turn off hey google detection in google maps navigation settings. A guy from carlinkit emailed me this solution and it worked
@@AntonioBatysta the solution is simple. In google maps go to settings, navigation settings, ok google detection and then turn of hey google and turn of while driving. This should fix the sound problem. Good luck

It might be the controller if it's a knock off the buttons might not be sending the controls that some games have been programmed to recognise. The BT remotes with dpads usually work fine. Some don’t work with the analogue sticks and you need to use the dpad instead.

If your i30 has wired CarPlay then it’s likely a compatibility issue. Check with support if your vehicle is compatible, and if it isn’t send it back.
Hello Sir, in my 2021 Caddy ESV I just get an Ambient Carlinkit - No Content Available thats displayed when connected. Doesnt do anything from there. Also I have internet in the truck. I just get one steady Blue light and 1 flashing white light on the device. I checked the capability list and it gives the year, and the model. Am I just out of luck?
It sounds it. If your Caddy has wired CarPlay USB port and isn’t wireless CarPlay only I don’t know what the issue might be there. Especially if they list it as compatible.
If you have a spare cable you could try that. Otherwise I’d reach out to support stating it isn’t working yet the list says it should do.

I have this box and I'm wondering if you have issues with the day/night mode for the OS activating. I notice it doesn't switch to night mode. apps follow the system default but if the OS isn't switching properly then the apps won't follow.
I have the older version and have the same problem- Waze kills me at night with that white background. I have to unplug the box and use wired to get night mode.

@@CarPlayLife apps on the box itself. They follow the system default just fine but it's the system that doesn't switch automatically. For instance, I'll get into the car at 9pm but the OS hasn't swapped over to the night theme, therefore the apps won't follow. Once I toggle the OS to night, the apps will follow.

Yes it should do that. You can also look into 2in1 adapters for a cheaper alternative to these without going though a slower to boot android layer.

This is the remote I use amzn.to/3JBSU0U, it has to be the G10S Pro Bluetooth model and worked directly with the adapter's BT, and not operate via a connected dongle.
As for controllers, you can't get any better than a gaming controller such as a Bluetooth enabled Xbox controller or PlayStation 4 or 5 controller.
I plan to buy this one, but I need more information about phone call handling. Question is the next:
I connect my phone to the car via Bluetooth, and connect the AIBox via cable without SIMcard. I don't use Carplay or Android Auto between IABox and my phone. On the CarlinKit max in this scenario the phone itself will call and it won’t play over the stereo system even if it’s connected over BT
I bought this item from Amazon. It will lose WiFi connection and Waze would freeze. While driving, I had to unplug and re-plug the unit. This is far more distracting than watching video when driving. I did a firmware update but it didn't help. Too much money for something that is dangerous and distracting bugs.

None that I know of. I had two a year or so ago for review (same manufacturer, just newer models) and I couldn’t bring my review as they were just awful and underpowered. I wasted days of testing when I decided I couldn’t bring any positives out of their review. It seems the support for AA only system AI boxes are as rare as unicorn horns.
Hi, I want to know if the device is turned off when I stop the car and go away from it, Or it keeps on. I know that other devices like adapters that allow connecting to Android Auto wirelessly to car that has only wired option, like A2A carlink, keeps running and because they use Wifi to connect to the phone, If you are near the car, the phone is still connected to the wifi of the device. This devices still receive electricity from the car besides the car is off.

The car should eventually turn off the usb port once the car is locked. It light just not do it for a minute or more. It depends on the manufacturer and system setup it has.

They all have GPS in them these days. As for working in a RAV4 I can’t say. Best to buy from a reputable dealer with easy returns.

It won’t work on android head units. If you have and android HU and you can install much the same apps on it, these won’t give you much advantage or extra functionality

If nothing comes up and the box is just flashing red LED then it’s likely it isn’t compatible with your system. Your options are to send it back whilst in your return window, let support know and wait for a fix from them (if at all), try it on another CarPlay system to make sure it’s not broken.
Hi, I received my T-box plus this week and can not get it to connect to my Cupra Formentor. It does not recognize the box. I have a iPhone 12 max pro. I have erased my phone from the memory of the car, removed my car from CarPlay.
The only recognition I have managed so far is the T-box appears on iPhone CarPlay but when you try to connect it the egg timer just keeps spinning
So these boxes connect to the CarPlay display in the car. Not your iPhone. They are standalone boxes that work independently to your phone. You only need your phone if you wish to give it internet from a mobile hotspot connection or if you wish to use it for wireless CarPlay/AAuto

Ask support as it sounds like compatibility issue with that system. I am not sure if you can go into the settings section and under the adapters own settings area there are options for sound modes that you could try changing.

If you’re not getting anything when you have it plugged in and the system turned to CarPlay then that sounds like a compatibility issue with this vehicle and system. Send it back for a refund and try an alternative

QCM 6125. The sellers have varying descriptions. Your videos are really the most informative. Appreciate your work.
Thanks Steve. A quick comparison search of these processors will tell you what’s what. But basically, right now, the QC665 (also known as QC6125) is the fastest chipset in these boxes. There is also a QC662 which has very similar performance, it’s more efficient so it runs cooler but it’s just a little slower on benchmarks. Between the 665 and 662 I don’t think you could tell the difference in real world use.

I feel a bit dense, but where can I find the IMEI number for a SIM card activation? I've looked in the AI box and settings and found a device ID, but it does not match the format of an IMEI number.
Sometimes it’s written on the SIM or the caddy it came with if you still have that. Otherwise I am sure I’ve seen IMEI number mentioned in the SIM settings area on the adapter android OS software.
May sound a daft question, but what sort of cars does this work with? I have Toyota Auris Hybrid 2010, will it work with that it has a display. Or are these things only compatible with specific infotainment screens?
They all need Apple CarPlay to work. Seeing as CarPlay didn’t come out until 2014, your car will not have CarPlay and will not work with these adapters. This might be one for their support team. Sims in these adapters can be region specific and if you buy the wrong one for your region it might not work. So an EU version won’t work in the US for example. Is there a chance you bought or were sold an incorrect version for your region?

I asked for support from Carlinkit and they sent me a video that shows how the SIM card must be inserted by using a pin. I didn't know that there was a spring to catch the SIM. After that my SIM is working properly.

Yes it should. It just needs to plug into a CarPlay enabled system to display itself. Android auto functionality comes from the app on the adapter.

Do you mean audio sync when playing from Android apps on the adapter or playing back via wireless CP/AA?

Tbox is how CarlinKit call their AI Boxes. TBox Plus would be a better version of the original Tbox.
Great video. I just bought the Carlinkit 4G 64 GB with android 11. I have an issue if someone can help me out. When I insert the Sim in the Box, after entering the Sim pin, the Box keeps restarting. I have 3 different boxes all have the same issue. I am able to use my 5G Sim card. Had anybody facing the same issue or can someone help me to fix the problem. Thanks from Germany.
As far as I know these only support up to 4G LTE SIMs. Maybe try a PAYG data sim from another network to see if it’s that which is crashing it.

Good choice. Sadly I can’t see this feature ever coming out as you’ll need to connect your phone in some way to the adapter and unless it’s wired it has to use Wi-Fi to transmit the data connection and as a result it will also cancel out any possibility or using wireless CP/AA. Maybe if they had a slave wifi module, like some have for Bluetooth. I dunno.
Mine do this. I just connected my Carlinkit CPC200 Tbox plus (6GB+128GB - Android 12) into my phone's Bluetooth, and on the phone checked the option "share my data connection" and worked... Now I'm getting internet though the Bluetooth connection. The bad thing is that the connection speed is a quite slow, something between 200-500kbps.

Superb video! I just got the T-Box Plus and all working. I wish you could rearrange the icons while in Apple CarPlay like you can when on the Android Home screen. Also you can't select a car icon to any make of car in Apple CarPlay like you can in previous versions of AutoKit. Perhaps an update of the AutoKit apk would fix both issues?

Yes I don’t see how to change the home icon for CarPlay either. I don’t think I’ve seen the android autokit app itself do this. Or maybe it’s been a while since I looked. I’m not sure if this is already running the latest or not. 🤔
Thanks for the reply Anthony! On my set up ( iPhone 12 Pro, Range Rover Sport ) the T-Box Plus will only allow the CarPlay icons to be shuffled when connected with a fire wire. Soon as I try the moves wirelessly, nothing happens. Tried getting the settings I wanted with the wire connection first, but then they go back to some default when wirelessly connected to the T-Box! Not sure what's up with that.
When you reviewed the T-Box Mini, your video showed a "CarPlay Icon menu" that you set to VW. That's missing on the T-Box Plus so I can't change the icon. Oddly, in the wired set up the same icon is already labelled with the car make. Is this feature available in another version?

Hi Anthony. Newbie to Ai boxes here. Do all the AI boxes keep the native Bluetooth connection to my phone or does the ai box connect directly to my phone via Bluetooth. Trying to figure out what's happens for voice commands sent through the native voice system. (Car 2021 Subaru Outback)
It depends on the setup. If you’re not using the adapter for wireless CP/AA (which needs BT) you can have your phone paired to the car system over BT and have the adapter connected and sending its software and apps to your CarPlay display.
Voice commands to your car system shouldn’t be interrupted and should continue to work independently to this adapter and it’s system software.

Been watching a v few of these videos, but hard to find an adapter that has the most important feature for me and my wife. Do you have a suggestion on which adapter is the easiest to switch between phones? My wife and I share a car, and the key feature is to have an adapter that we can just start up and choose the phone we want to without turning off bluetooth/wifi on our phones.
Most AI Boxes for CarPlay/AAuto connections through an Android software app. Most of these are very basic and multi device support is very absent. The best route for that is a wireless adapter that connects to devices at a software on chip level. Like the U2air Pro from Ottocast with its hardware disconnect button or better, the CarlinKit 3.0 (iPhone only) 4.0/5.0 (iPhone and Android) where you can turn off auto connect and have a menu you can select the device you want to connect from. BUT you still make have to play with BT connection page on each device as without dual BT model in these things if one connects the other might not be able to.

Sometimes these AI boxes don’t work all too well with CarPlay displays like the carpuride.

It’s hit and miss. Some do some don’t. Didn’t try a different cable? A decent one like a 3.1 usb cable.

I said this because CarPlay only came out in 2014 and any car older or up to 2018 will likely have wired CarPlay enabled on their system. So yes, you do need wired CarPlay for any adapter like these to work with it. Having touch screen and usb just isn’t enough.

Some aI boxes can use knobs and dials. I’m not sure on this one but seeing as the BT remote does it, it will act in a similar way to that

I got the 6G+128 T-Box Plus,, i bought this one because it said it will be future ready for Android 12.. do you know if this is actually true? And how would one go about installing it on the T-Box? :) Also read that somewhere in settings you can adjust 30fps to 60fps.. But i havent dug into the settings that deep yet.. Maybe its somewhere in the ip 192.168 menu..
A few makers have claimed that their android 11 box will be upgradable to Android 12. Other than app compatibility and security there isn’t much change in going to Android 12 in my experience. Adapters running 12 really aren’t that different.
Is it true? Personally I don’t see that happening. They will certainly not enforce the update as I can see they will run into all kinds of trouble with failed updates bricking AI boxes, just like firmware updates do on wireless adapters. They just don’t want that hassle. So I can see it will be a file on a website than something downloadable OTA. We shall see. Personally I think these makers would rather release an updated model with 12 on than push out an update.
If the Plus can be switched to 60fps I would 100% try it if I knew how. I don’t think these boxes have an IP config menu. It’s set at the root OS level so if it’s anywhere it will be on the factory settings.
I’ll try and see if I can dig that out. If anyone knows how already, let me know.

I connected this piece to the Pioneer 3800 screen and it works well... but I have a problem. The piece works well with the mobile SIM card and works well with the hot spot from an Android phone, but when I try to connect it to the hot spot from an iPhone, this message appears (IP configuration failure). Are there any suggestions to connect it to the iPhone hot spot?
Is it possible to launch directly into Carplay when the the phone connects or do you have to manually launch the AutoKit app each time?
You can set the app to auto boot in the settings area for the adapter. Do that and it can auto boot and connect to your phone for wireless CarPlay
great video..got one but autikit app crashes when trying wireless carplay or android auto. Google assistant does not respond to voice commands. can't play car FM radio when this device is connected. car dash board controls doesn't work and the list goes on. have you seen any such issues. the support could not fix any of these issues for the last 30 days
I think its very car specific. My recommendation for everyone on the fence with these things is to buy it from amazon with free returns. If it doesn't live up to your expectations then just return it, no point in trying to "fix" it.

Just got this today and i have a issue.been working 10 min ok and while i was doing the setup suddenly disconected and went in a not bootable mode.green and blue light static all the time .car dont recognise the box at all.tried to conect my phone with wired android and is working ok.But when i plug in the box is just not booting up anymore.any advice?
If it worked the first time and then not at all, if it was after it’s first reboot it could be that it chose an incompatible resolution. Those lights seem to be it’s usual operational lights. So if nothing is coming up on screen as it did before, then that sounds like a faulty device or an incompatibility issue. See if you can try it on another vehicle to reset its resolution and try again on yours if it dorks again. If it fails again send it back as faulty if you can.

Does your Lexus still have wired CarPlay though? Most cars that have CarPlay have touch screens to interact with them apart from BMW and Audi and maybe Mercedes where dash mounted screens were too far away to touch them. Maybe yours is similar?

Sorry. I’ve not done music files with album art since the WinAmp days. I would expect this should support it if you give it the relevant files. Just load them onto the storage via SD card making sure all album art files are also copied across. Have other app for Carplay Connection ? Its looking 15fps for me... I have Carlinkit 4.0 and T-BOX Plus, and the Carlinkit 4.0 reaches 60fps, but even with stock settings the music have cuts sometimes, this does not happen in tbox, audio is perfect, but 15fps hurts.
A dedicated wireless adapter is always going to perform better (connection and config wise) than an AI Box. One is on chip, the other is doing it through software (app).
I assume you’re using android device with this, not iPhone. The plus feels more laggy on android auto than on CarPlay.
You could try installing other apps like zlink but they would need registering and I’ve never been that successful
@@CarPlayLife Im using iPhone, the fps on the Carlinkit 4.0 is really better but the Android box is more stable.
Did you try playing with media delay in the config menu of the 4.0? That will hopefully reduce or remove skipping. Between 500-1000 should do it.

I’m not too Knowledgeable about that kinda use so I can’t say. In theory with dual BT support, it should work.

Yes you need a SIM if you want to use internet for android apps as well as using wireless CP/AA. Otherwise you can get away with using a hotspot from your phone or a separate Wi-Fi connection such as car Wi-Fi or a MiFi device.

No sadly there isn’t. You have to check forums or ask them for it. There might be a webpage but I don’t know of it

I've had some software issues with this box (mainly, Verizon SIM card works great only if I manually set "LTE Only" every reboot). It looks like they've just released, 2 months later, a new "TBox Ultra" that's the exact same hardware but running a newer OS built on Android 12. Does anyone know anything about potentially upgrading this box to that more recent firmware?

I’ve had the Max for months but I’ve not been able to bring my review because i have always hit a wall with new issues.
They are sending out a new adapter because it might have been that my adapter was one of the first off the production line.
This thing is a piece of junk. Stopped working for me after 1 day of use and never worked the way it was supposed to. Every time it was turned on and off all my settings were reset. Eventually it just stopped coming up. I think that might have been because of the really crappy cables they included. Lose a $200 sale by saving $1 on a cable.

The binize looks like the first hen TBox. If that’s the case then this Plus will be a lot better.

Nope. I guess it’s a OS, RAM and ROM spec bump, not much more with same cpu and gpu. So better multitasking and storage space and a more robust and app friendly OS

Can music from internal storage play automatically after booting up?
Do you think we are close to getting a box that doesn’t have delays with CarPlay, whilst still being able to use android apps like UA-cam? Or is it always going to be a system limitation?
They would have to put in much faster WiFi chips and move from WiFi5 to WiFi6 speed chips to reduce lag or delay in wireless CP or AA. But to do that the cost to produce would increase a lot and not many would capitalise on it with a phone that doesn’t support wifi6 bandwidth. So it’s likely we will be waiting a while for that to happen 😞
Transistions between wireless CP/AA and android apps is best avoided via a SIM in the adapter or waiting for an adapter that has dual wifi modules to carry multiple connections.
@@CarPlayLife Thanks for the detailed response. Yep I already have a Sim in my Apple Pie mini box and it works well for most of the android apps, however I find the CarPlay interface superior for most apps, its just terrible with the delay.
@@CarPlayLife I have a 2018 honda crv bought a carlinkit android 12 from 8gb to 128gb but it doesn't work for me it doesn't come out for the connection and I tried the box with various radios and it doesn't fail either which would be the best box for the connection

@@CarPlayLife I'm interested in the native setting of the system (not AA). I have a previous model w/android 9, using it with a different launcher (Nova), and related to the android version (and features, like native dark mode), other apps can adapt the system dark mode (if the system have it). Also, android 11 have native split screen, and if this is adopted in this device, I suppose the split screen is better than in android 9, as in A11 you can resize the windows of the split apps... Long story short, I'm interested if the device has a full android 11, or is an adapted version and only by testing one can know what features are implemented or not 😊 However, many thanks for the patience and response!

Does the SIM have a mobile data plan? Did you buy the right adapter for your region?

Full screen? This depends on the car system. If you run CarPlay and it’s full screen on that then this is an issue with the adapter and it’s software. Only an update with a fix would solve that. If it’s not full screen in CarPlay then it will be the same with this adapter. It can’t take over more than what CarPlay display can take over.
which kind of SD cards can i use for this box?
Anything up to 128gb usually. A faster card will offer quick loading of content but nothing too significant

you can not run the internet for video streaming apps AND wireless carplay or android auto at the same time when using Wi-fi for both. The only way around this is inserting a SIM card for video streaming apps

@@Firstname-ms5zn make sure the date and time is correct on the adapter. Check the connection of internet with Speedtest.net in the browser of the adapter
Great video i'm more into CarlinKit devices never had issue with them. But talking about issues any idea or tip how to connect the bluetooth remote with these ai boxes? I tired holding the power bottom in remote itself for pairing but never showed in ai box.
I don't know if you have the same remote as the one in this video. For that one, I hold down the OK and Home buttons down to initiate the pairing process and it showed up on the adapter BT settings menu. Tap connect to pair them. Some adapters don't have dual Bluetooth, so pairing would be impossible on those.
Anybody else having problems when using navigation and listening to music on Spotify. I get a strange mono (phone call) sound. There is an option to disable navigation recording but i cant seem to turn it off. It stays blue
If you have this problem just turn off hey google detection in google maps navigation settings. A guy from carlinkit emailed me this solution and it worked
Yeah I getting this issue, but I don't know how to solve it.
@@AntonioBatysta the solution is simple. In google maps go to settings, navigation settings, ok google detection and then turn of hey google and turn of while driving. This should fix the sound problem. Good luck
