In this video, I sit down with Izzy Sealey, a UA-camr with 500k subscribers, to talk about her journey on UA-cam and what advice she would give to someone just getting started today. There's so much I wish I'd known when I started UA-cam myself, and Izzy captures a lot of that advice in this video, so I think you'll get value from it. Enjoy!

how do I get more watch time? I feel like that's the hardest thing about youtube
i took your course few cohorts ago and i'm still a tiny channel but still thrilled when i look back at earlier vids and see progress (less shaky footage!) it's def a long game but feel i'm learning so much. reading your book atm thx ali!
i love that you actually used her affiliate link 😂😂
i wonder if izzy was not a cute girl with a british accent, how she would have fared.
I completed the Part-Time UA-camr Foundation course 3 weeks ago. Followed every piece of advice and started my UA-cam channel. 3 weeks into my channel with 10 subscribers but still making videos because I know consistency is key. I must add, though, that as a beginner, it is hard work😂
This was great fun to film! 😊 Thanks for having me on the channel (and for exposing all my deepest fears about UA-cam !! 😂👀)
Great Convo Guys! 🙏🏻
Thank you Izzy for your advice. I started a channel some years ago, had 300 subscribers after a couple of months and stopped completely because I started being a full time caregiver of my husband. I would like to start another channel, find a different niche and see if I can manage while being a caregiver. Greetings from Uruguay 🇺🇾 😊
I really enjoyed the conversation. :)
Thanks for being so open and honest about your UA-cam journey! So inspiring and helpful! 💖
12/03/2024 SEE YOU BOTH
I have been following Ali's journey for 3-4 years. After watching Ali's all videos about starting a UA-cam channel, I decided to try it in July 2023. In about 7 months, I have published more than 50 videos and now have more than 10K subscribers. As a professor at a university, I can teach at most 150 students every year, but thanks to my UA-cam channel, I now feel like I have more than 10K students. The size of the impact I create is unbelievable. Thank you Ali!
This is amazing 🎉
Wow, impressive, huge inspiration! Keep it up! 🌄 I'm still working towards my first 1k haha 🔥😊
I have been following Sidika's journey. I have subscribed when you have like 150 subs. I am gonna observe your journey and I hope, I can be succesful like you😊
@@el-it9431 great inspiration, I'm also just starting out still working towards my first 1k subs 😊🌆
Thanks for inspiring me! Hope I can be in your place in one year 🙌🤲
As someone currently having 7 Subscribers, I can say this thumbnail is very relatable
Put that on your vision board! Put yourself in the middle. 😊

You just got one more subscribe , keep going and do it consistently

Just started and posted my first podcast today, finally had the courage to take a step, wish me luck guys .
To all the creators I wish you all become successful in UA-cam ❤
Thank you!

Slowly but surely 🙏🏼
"What feels like a ramble to you can genuinely be life-changing advice to someone" This someone, is me. Thank you so much Izzy for your vulnerability, and Ali for using your platform to share her success story!
I don't understand people who write mean messages on people's youtube videos or other social media postings. If I don't like something, I prefer to say nothing. I prefer to spread kindness instead of negativity.
It's more about them than the person they are saying bad things about. I choose to ignore such people.
I struggle with self-consciousness and will sometimes avoid sharing my UA-cam videos on some of my platforms because I suddenly feel like I am "bothering" people or "I am not good enough to do this" or "I will be judged" so it's refreshing to see that other UA-camrs struggle with similar issues and even more refreshing to see how they have managed to overcome them to a great extent. Thanks for the video!
I had same issue to post on my fb

Ali you have been a lifechanger for me. I started writing online thanks to you and today I have grown a freelance business that makes me $1500-$2000 per month.
You were my inspiration because you were also a med student and I loved your study related videos. Now I plan to grow my youtube channel as well. I' m sharing the things that I learned in the last 5 years in my freelance journey. Looking forward to making videos like you as well.
Wish me luck!

This is so beautiful to see. Thank you both for sharing your journeys with us. You may not know how far it reaches, but you guys sharing your struggles with us is really humbling, and also so inspiring
I’m growing from 0. Started from the bottom, now I’m here. Doctors and nurses gain subscribers super fast. Great video!
I got you on the sub my guy✊🏽 It’s always great seeing people start!
@@GPS_Limitless Thank you, I appreciate your support!
About consistency: I found it super interesting how Ali don’t struggle with it but Izzy does. I can relate with Izzy! One factor, that comes to my mind is the female monthly cycles. A woman goes though monthly cycles of changes in energy to hormones. Certain days will be low and others will be filled with energy. A male body works on a daily cycle. It would be super interesting to learn more how that can impact and maybe a slight different approach that women, who feels this, can do. I know some women adjusting their schedule along with their menstrual cycle, example - not scheduling important meetings during first days of period etc. Thanks so much for a great video!! Super insightful!! 😊
100%!!
I completely agree with this.
@josephine9619 that is definitely something to consider since men have a 24 hour cycle and women mostly 28 days. I have noticed that I can be productive and rest during those days when my body needs it. This is way more aligned with the feminine body & its cyclical nature. It has helped me to stop feeling like I am not getting enough done. The book “The Optimized Woman” by Miranda Grey has been a life changer for me and other women I know. All the best for you! ✨😊
@@judyjimenez8073 Thanks so much for your comment and for the book recommendation! I will check it out :) I'm excited to learn more!
Ewe
Is anyone gonna talk about the way this man looks at this woman? I’m not saying it’s romantic, he just looks so proud!
I totally agree that negative comments say more about the people who make the comments than you! If I don't like something, I just don't watch it but I never bother leaving negative comments or even disliking a video.
You need to watch it to know if you like it or not. What a logic here.
If you don't want to read negative comments, do not read them
@@tomaszzieba315 Let me rephrase that for you, "If I know I'm gonna like the topic or content of a video I just don't watch it". Because believe it or not, a lot of people click on videos with the intention of leaving negative comments just because they didn't like the title.
And it's easy for you to say not to read negative comments, but are you a creator? Because as a creator you get a notification for every comment you receive, you can't just filter the negative comments out. Such an ignorant comment.
@cyndriana That's the way of the internet. Yes, I'm a creator on Twitter, and I get negative comments/hate.
The ratio matters. If you have a lot it means there's probably something wrong with your content.
If you can't stand it, being a creator is not for you.
And you can turn off notifications completely. If you are as big as this channel you can hire 10 or more people to remove negative comments.
Done Please ❤🖤❤🖤❤🖤
we have Art 19 of the constitution saying about freedom of speech and expression....if u genuinely loved the vdo leave good comment and like it...but if u didn't like the vdo u have option to dislike it ..there is nothing wrong in it
Really appreciated her views on things. Izzy, thank you for dropping by!

It is reassuring to hear that you guys still have UA-cam struggles even after all the success. Your channel was one of the reasons that I finally started on my channel. Thanks for the content!
I've just started my YT journey and this has been really inspirational to listen to and know that even super successful YTbrs are having the same struggles. Great work!
I actually started a UA-cam channel last month thanks to hearing Ali talk about it, just going for it, and it's still super new but already seeing better results than I had expected so this is definitely a great encouragement forward
This video was much needed! I started my UA-cam channel 3 months ago but had to stop posting for a month due to my busy schedule as a full time college student. I am so glad that this video has given me a new perspective to get back into editing and posting again. Thank you Ali and Izzy 😊💕
I needed this video - I just published my first real video for my new channel and my comments in my shorts are already only coming from random haters. It's hard to be motivated when the positivity I'm looking for hasn't come my way yet. I appreciate you!
For me I even need those haters as long as they interact on my channel
@@AMAZINGFactsStrangerThingsTRYNthe videos with comments from haters are my best performing so I’ll take it lol but sheesh 😅
My videos are better than his.😂

All engagement is good engagement 😂 yt doesn't care what those haters feel, it's a win for you
One major key about that breakthrough or skyrocketing is CONSISTENCY. Just believe it, a day will come when the light will shine on your channel. You definitely may not know the particular video, but just keep creating and keep adjusting to trends. It'll surely happen. BELIEVE it! 👍
Izzy is so sweet! I loved watching this and I’m glad posting every 2-3 weeks could still get me the growth I want on UA-cam
I have 7 followers and I feel so blessed. I couldn't imagine 500,000 congratulations ❤

This is one of the best videos I have ever watched for UA-cam inspiration.
So many lessons packed into one video, in an honest and open discussion. Thank you 🙏
I love this interview, so much value to gain from watching it. I want to start a new youtube channel. My struggle is the editing and transitions.. every you tuber makes their videos sooo interesting, for mine, I just speak to a camera and leave it as is. Anyone with useful and genuine advice will help! Best of luck on all of your journey and thanks Ali for this inspiring interview.
this was incredibly insightful and just an enjoyable conversation. honestly feeling more inspired than ever. thanks Ali and Izzy!
Many golden nuggets here. I grew my channel from 0-50,000 in 6 months mainly from Ali's advice, so just want to say thank you for that!
Never heard of Izzy before this video, but you had a great vibe together and a lot of interesting insights
I remember watching some of his older videos almost 5-6 years talking about how he uses his IPad for journaling. Now I’ve started my first UA-cam channel I’m watching him again. It’s a nice coincidence.
Great video, great content and great chemistry! You may want to consider more collaborations with Izzy. She sounds genuine like you, which I truly appreciate! Best wishes to both of you!!
Hey Ali QUICK THOUGHT !
I would like to see you having interview with someone who is realtime beginner. Like I have this inside feeling that youtubers talk to other youtuber that are successful already.
Thank you for doing your stuff. It really resonates with me and I'm getting alot of value out of your content . Building my life around fainding the joy in things i do and doubling down when i feel that this is the thing i like more.
I would love that too!
I appreciate your input you two. It was so supportive! Ali, hope you don’t mind others using your five affirmations before making a video. I feel the need to use them myself. I loved hearing you both sharing your experiences!
You two were my inspirations to finally silent launch a channel this year. One month in and at 70 subs - I still feel butterflies everytime a new person joins my community. 🦋
It's an emotional journey for sure and I'm only one month in 🥹
Thank you for talking about all the areas that seldom get addressed with UA-cam help videos. It helps all of us feel less alone in the struggles we're overcoming with each upload.
Your channel is blowing up in only 2 months, you’re a legend! Keep it up! It’s inspiring
@@inked_icons ahhhh thank you so much for that encouragement. It genuinely came at a time when I needed it the most.
Thank you so much for this content, it was really useful for us, aspiring youtubers!! Izzy's view is refreshing and help us see things from a different perspective 🙏🙏
Amazing video, kismet that this dropped because as a UN consultant and fitness model who are transitioning into UA-cam this is super relevant! Wishing everyone the best on their journeys and huge thanks to Ali/Izzy !!!! 🤩🤩
Thanks Ali and Izzy for sharing your story. It's great to hear the stories of others to inspire growth of my own YT channel!
As someone with just a little over 100 subscribers, this video has been so helpful and relatable!
Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and experiences :)
I really enjoyed watching this video. Thank you both for taking the time to create it. You make a fantastic couple. I can't help but wonder why not! 😍
Big fan of bringing on guests to the channel! It’s a nice change of pace🙌🏽
Thank you Ali and Izzy for the heartfelt conversation. I started my own channel after going through the Part-Time UA-camr Academy $1 course and watching this video. You really helped me to face my own fear of putting something out there in public.
I just needed this video ! Especially from a youtuber like you thank you!!
Thanks to you both for the video, very interesting to listen to when trying to grow your own channel.
I find the spotlight effect so interesting and true! X
Half way through and just have to say thank you both. Your energy is so supportive, loving, and authentic we can feel it through the screen ❤ Izzy your advice was absolutely needed and appreciated thank you so much for your thoughtful answers! Ali - you held space so well and I can’t wait to buy your book!
As I just started my UA-cam journey, this video felt good !
Thank you for being so honest. It was inspiring to watch !
This was one of the best videos I’ve watched on your channel. Thank you both for such an inspiring and helpful conversation!
Exactly what I needed to hear. To focus on the original intent (the why!) of purpose and service rather than the metrics which can be demotivating at times.
This was really something to learn from, you are so honest and open to how things needs to be dealt with. To be a content creator contains a lot of issues, but it`s also so great to experience all the feelings connected to the process 🙂
Your journey, from the struggles of not having parental figures around to finding your own path and proving you could succeed, really struck a chord. It's a powerful reminder that our beginnings don't define us, but our choices and resilience do. Your story is a beacon of hope for anyone facing similar challenges.
No joke Ali’s course on skill share was what got me started on UA-cam 🎉

This was really helpful, thank you, @Izzy. I started watching Izzy's videos recently and they're fantastic-- she deserves all the success she's getting. The PTYA has been really helpful; thanks to Ali and the team. Remaining equanimous in response to the art is very smart. A line I like to remember when putting art out into the world is, "The response doesn't belong to you."

Why are these two not dating, they are a perfect match!!! Two former medical students turned into UA-camrs!!! Perfect pair!!!! -- their online engagement would go up if they were a couple!!!!
I have been following these 2 and they continue to inspire me to be consistent. I have been stuck in 570+ and i wish i could have achieved their numbers in 2 years
One of the best interviews, thanks Ali and Izzy
Ok, I am so copying Ali’s list of “reasons to film a video” to read it out loud to myself. So good! I always think similar thoughts before filming yet it’s easy for those to be mixed with doubts, having an actual list to read out loud seems like such a simple yet genius hack. Thank you!
I have 414 subscribers.... And i am med student i know it's embarrassing around friends and very hard in the beginning..
I am going through it... I hope everyone succeeds in their journey ❤❤❤

You've offered incredible inspiration Ali. I've grown my channel on book publishing to 15,000 over the last year. Really happy with that and am considering pivoting towards more productivity and more well-rounded side hustle based content in the future to help broaden the offering (whilst still keeping the main focus on book publishing)

This is so encouraging for us who just started our channels. Thx for sharing
This is a BRILLIANT interview!
Thank you, thank you for this great video! I'm dealing with huge imposter syndrome and your interview with Izzy is freeing. ✨
Great stuff to hear, specially being a new youtuber, can't wait till my community grows and people start giving more feedback, feels great when people leave genuine comments, every single one is awesome, one of the first things i look for when i wake up the next day lol cant wait to see where its at in a year!

Thank you so much @ali for always sharing insightful information. After I had my baby, I wanted to switch to a career that could allow me cater for myself, baby and support as a new mom, it was your video that encouraged me to start up my channel, am glad I started, the growth is coming gradually but am super grateful. Thank you for the amazing things you do! They are so practical
I love your work Ali. Thank you so much. You have helped me grow as a person. Love this video
As someone who has currently got 7 subs, I laughed at the thumbnail so much. Thanks UA-cam algo for suggesting this.
I am motivated seeing how Ali has grown, I can't wait. After a long time of contemplating, I finally started my channel 1 week ago. I had to start watching videos to keep me motivated. Thanks for sharing
This was such an encouraging video to watch, thank you for this!
I will make sure these affirmations are carved in my brain... and used before recording each video... Thanks, Ali!
Absolutely adorable woman. What a lovely interview. I can see why she is gaining popularity on UA-cam; well spoken, charming, and she just exudes a natural warmth. Wishing you both continued success. Thank you for this wonderful chat you shared.., I think pretty much everyone can resonate with it. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
always dropping value. appreciate you
This is great Ali, keep them coming. very encouraging
My channel is slowly growing, almost 100 videos... some videos do really well, and others may need some time. I thought I'd have a definite idea of what content I should be producing by then, but I'm still experimenting!
The best video I have ever watched in my entire lifetime. Thanks Ali.
Who else feels a connection between them?
This was so good energetically to watch 🥰 they’re just both so supportive, honest, and loving hearts!
Absolutely love this video! So raw, real and great advice!
This video truly resonated with me. It was truly helpful and motivating! Thank you!
This was super inspiring as a UA-camr who is starting out!! Thank you for sharing :)
She is so beautiful. Sweet and genuine. Could listen to her all day. ❤
"Try to keep the creative spirit alive" is the toughest part of this video for me. As a small-time creator, I started my UA-cam channel about two months ago and honestly I have seen the time fly as I experiment with different ideas since I don't cover just one niche, I love talking about different things.
One of the toughest things to ignore are the metrics! My goodness, even losing one subscriber feels traumatic like wait no, don't go, come back! D:
Solid advice on trying to fall more in love with the creative process of testing ideas, rather than obsessing with numbers and click-through rates.
This has been so motivating for me with starting my UA-cam Journey. Literally just listening to this while I work out and gaining knowledge and feeling to incorporate on my page. Thanks guys!
This is exactly the video I needed to learn how to grow my UA-cam channel. Thanks Ali!
Done Please 🖤✅
I am precisely at 7 subscribers!!!😂😂😂
The coincidence, same with the thumbnail 😂😂🎉🎉
I believe ❤
Nice ! thats one more subscriber than me 😂
I have been watched Ali's video for 2 years. I would like to say I got so many inspirations from you. Thank you very much. I'm a Cambridge alumni as well, probably same time as you between 2012-2018. I decided to start my UA-cam Channel since Oct. 2023, I have uploaded 22 videos but only 2 followers so far. I know it's gonna be a long journey but I will keep working.
I started my youtube channela year ago and followed your advice. I now have a fully functioning channel and earn a little money every month. Not life changing but something!! ❤❤ I currently have almost 3.5k subscribers 🎉
Great chemistry!!! Thanks so much for sharing. I really appreciate the experience and insight from both perspectives. I really like it when you guys collab! This looks like "Feel Good Productivity" -- looks like a sunny tropical local with a beautiful, smart, accomplished young "star" student. Ali is so smart and fast-thinking that he overwhelms me. But his advice is really good. And Izzy balances him out and It's way easier for me to watch the whole video when she's in it and vice versa.
Izzy's insights on starting a UA-cam channel are spot on. For entrepreneurs diving into UA-cam, remember that audience retention is key; focus on creating content that keeps viewers watching past the first minute to boost your video in the algorithm.
