Thank you for sharing . A neat method for making the: 2''-inch Net Cup holders ! MOSTLY - Thank you for allowing comments here. I appreciate seeing many other positive comments from other gardeners. AND many Thank You comments- your sharing is so helpful. ALL the Best, Cheers, DK...
Anyone using 2 inch net cups - use 4 inch pvc down pipe for the main tower but make the slits at least 5cm wide and use 1.5 inch pipe tapered to a point at one end to make the holes in the slits. Worked for me. 2” net cups sit nicely in the holes. I made a 1.8 metre tall tower from a 4” wide downpipe and using the technique in this video for the holes for the net cups. Attach a 15mm or 20mm wide straight tube or pvc pipe to a mini submersible water fountain pump in a bucket or tub with a lid, cut 4” diameter hole in lid for tower to go through and put the finished tower system over the pump/tube sat in the bucket of water. Put a cap on the top of the tower or cover with plastic bag and elastic band at least. Switch pump on a timer if possible set to 10 minutes on, 10 minutes off and experiment.
What's the outside diameter of the 1.5 inch pipe you use for making holes? We are all mm (metric) here so can't locater 1.5 inch pipe. If you just give me the outside diameter in mm that would be great!!! :) or outside diameter in inches will be great also.
If it was me (and I was doing aquaponics instead of hydroponics) I'd put a 5 gallon pail with a lid at the bottom of the tower to act as a buffer tank and a submersible pump in it to bring water back to the aquarium (being careful to keep the flow rate where your pump won't cavitate) and have a separate pump in the aquarium to put water in through the top (once again watching the flow rate to make sure it doesn't over fill the 5 gallon pail at the bottom).
@@mamadffaye In the aquaponic system Jessica is describing, water is pumped from a fish aquarium to the top of the tower shown and dispersed. That water flows down through the tower, giving the plants water and nutrients. That water falls into a bucket below, and is then pumped back into the aquarium, completing the cycle. For a hydroponic system, which doesn't involve fish, nutrient solution would simply be pumped from the reservoir at the bottom of the tower to the top, where it would then flow back down into the bucket.
Your system is the best I have seen of getting the pots to the inside of the large pipe so make sure water hits all the pots. Ingenious method of using the pipe to make the bend. Why both spend money on pvc y joints when this works better and gets the pods inside.
hello congratulations for the work you have done I can ask you a favor I did the tower but I have a problem the water comes out from the edges of the jars what can I do if I turn down the flow some jars do not receive water.
I haven't built this yet but if I do I'm planning to run 3/4" PE tube up the inside from a submerged pump in the reservoir that has barbs splitting out to several 1/4" PE tubes pointed at different sides of the pipe. That should get you good coverage along the walls of the pipe. To be even more sure you could use 1/4" spray emitters
Just FYI I’d only try this outside as PVC fumes can be extremely dangerous when it hits a melting point. As for leaching chemicals, I wouldn’t know if melting the PVC creates potentially lingering issues however one person pointed out that growing your own food is often healthier versus store bought so perhaps that offsets potential hazards.
That is not true. Simply by melting, off-gassing occurs. You don’t need a fire to breathe in toxic chemicals. Same applies to other plastics such resin-based 3D printers. Many gasses are invisible and toxic. Again, I would only recommend doing this outside. @@NaveedAkhtarButt

What is the wall thickness of the 3" pipe you are using? Mine doesn't seem to be as easy to manipulate as the ones you have in the video. I got it done, but it was messy. :(
Hello fabulous your project but I should ask you to send me the measurements to be able to tell the Italian seller since I do not understand anything and then we would be really happy if you could show us the pump system thanks
PVC does not leach things to water. It resists inorganic substances Our piping systems use PVC, even residential water. Its not like we are consuming it, so don't worry 😂😂😂 But of course, avoid direct sunlight. UV light ruin its structure, then its particle will leach to air, water, or soil
I'm not sure how safe it is to heat an PVC pipe considering the potential risk of release of toxic substances. Please take precaution and use a gas mask at least if you're not doing so already.

You are the grow tower expert!🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼 They look amazing. Wish I had know about this technique a long time ago. Very impressive!💪🏼💪🏼😍
nice technique for making the hole. I did not realize you could make such nice holes by bending the tube backwards before inserting it. thanks!
Agreed!!

Best video about shaping the holes. Thank you!
Well thought out and executed, I love the fact that you suggest the piping to be used, thanks.
I built this! Used a 5gal home depot bucket for the reservoir. The beer bottle trick is genius!
Great content 👍 keep it up amazing idea 👍 vertical hydroponic great to see you.. stay connected old friend here 👍 keep it up 👍👍 amazing
Wow genius! Gonna do this myself. Thanks for sharing

Hi! Can you make a video about water pumping system inside the tower?

Very interesting and impressive what about to clean the that sistem
how is the water trickle down affected by the bended plastic? are all the roots getting a good supply ? great vid, really clever and truly DIY
Great point! Maybe you have to drip right down the center of the tube? Otherwise it does look like the water will flow around the plant hole
*This looks great, the best looking method* 👍
Brilliant... Thanks so much for all your efforts.

How do you make your tower stable in the bucket?
I used river rocks. Make a good weight to keep it from blowing over and allows decent drainage.
Where do you get the little pot from that goes into the holes
Lots of online grow places. Pot shops or cannabis shops always have them. Water pond nurseries have them as well.
