Congrats on the new little one! I love these soups. Pro tip: if you want the egg to "bloom" more so they're not clumpy, pour them over a fork. The tines of the fork splits up the egg so you get more "strings" in your soup. :D

I was always the “hot and sour soup” girl too! Would recommend adding wood ear mushrooms and wait to add the vinegar and (WHITE) pepper, with a splash of sesame oil, until the very end since they tend to dissipate when added too early!

Marion is unquestionably one of my favorite purveyors of excellent recipes and techniques. However, today I especially want to mention how appreciative I am of her superbly crafted videos which are delivered in such a relaxed manner. I especially enjoy watching her videos before trying to fall asleep - soothing information to help me forget anxieties of my day. Patricia

Congrats on the new little! My morning sickness was triggered visually rather than odors, yes, I know, it's odd. When I was preggers with my first, I could not have anything with a creamy sauce over it. I could not even see a television commercial where a creamy salad dressing was poured over lettuce! With my second little, it was pink/peach. The colour... it applied to foods (strawberries, papaya, melons, all out of the picture) AND it applied to anything I would look at. I was having a girl, can you imagine the amount of pink items I got!? I would drive my first little to his Nana's when I went to work and there were exactly 25 pink/coral painted houses along the route and she knew to wait by the door with a bucket! Good luck and many blessings for the new little!

I gotta find dried shrimp. I used to make rice with shrimp stock, and the flavor it lends is amazing. Especially for fried rice. It gave my rice a flavor I used to get from a Chinese takeout place that I absolutely adored in their beef fried rice.

Just when I start getting all confident and big for my boots-- along comes the task of mincing a single clove of garlic into a dish. How do people get that single clove actually into the dish they're cooking?! Most of mine stays stuck firmly into all the little grooves and nubs on the front of the grater and only a few drips and drabs fall into the pan, with the majority impossible to even scrape off. What a waste. I'm clearly no pro-home cook if I can't master grating a single clove of garlic (as directed). Thanks Marian for cutting me down to size. This cook clearly has some basics still to master. 🤣🤣
